[Q] Problems updating via OTA and/or ODIN - Galaxy S 5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Currently running G900FXXU1ANE2 on an EE branded S5. (Previously rooted with towel root and supesu)
keep getting notifications to update firmware but when I do it via OTA it comes up updated failed connect to kies (on PC) the problem being, I don't own a PC so that's not an option
I've tried installing mobile odin via the play store so I can install it manually, but when I try to open it, mobile odin just force closes. I've tried unrooting and re-rooting to see if that fixes the odin problem but to no avail.
Any suggestions on how to update via OTA/Odin without a PC or any other solutions?
Thanks

Well OTA`s can`t be installed if you are rooted and changed the system.

Phone only boots with root and TWRP...Cant install stock!

Hi everyone,
I hope someone can help me with this problem. Basically I was updating my phone to mk2 BTU via kies and it failed. Kies stopped recognising the phone and it kept going in to stock recovery.
I tried manually flashing stock mk2 via odin but I kept getting the same result.
Then I got fed up and I rooted (cf auto root) and installed TWRP and my phone booted in to a rooted mk2. My knox is now triggered which is a bit annoying but at least it works now.
The problem is if I try to flash stock rom via odin it still does the same thing boots in to stock recovery and then I have to root and install twrp again. I blame all this on KIES!
Does anyone know how to fix this?
Thanks
Any ideas anyone?

Not clear here - by stock rom do you mean stock MK2 ROM (unrooted, same CSC as the rooted one that works)?
Have you also tried in Kies the special "emergency recovery mode" (under tools)?

Hi,
Yes thats right MK2 stock unrooted and same CSC. I tried KIES the first time with emergency recovery but it kept saying device unsupported, that's when i rooted it and installed TWRP and it worked. I don't understand it.

[Q] Unable to update Note 3!

Hi guys,
I am using the SM-N9005 Note 3 variant and am unable to update the phone.
I am rooted and have tripped knox (0x1) and have tried using Wanam to set the Device Status to 'Official' which lets me download the update but will not install. When it tries to reboot to install, it enters CWM and a screen of errors flash for a few seconds and reboots back normally without installing the update.
I have also tried updating via Kies but once the installation process goes to > 90%, my computer automatically shuts down for some reason.
If there's any way to update (and is it worth the trouble to update?), I'd like to know, thanks!
Currently on build number/baseband N9005XXUBMJ1.
edit: thanks guys!

You need to have stock recovery to do that. My recomendation, flash stock firmware then update and then root your phone

get update at www.sammobile.com get yours and flash with odin ,you will lose root
you can flash stock rom with MOP to keep root.
Will try.
You are better off updating with a custom Rom. You will still have your mj1 boot loader but latest rooted firmware

[Q] N910U 5.0.1 OTA not working

The lollipop update for the N910U in New Zealand this morning bricked my phone when I installed it this afternoon. I then went back to the latest 4.4.4 update and factory reset the phone and tried to install the 5.0.1 update again this time via ODIN, it got halfway through downloading the system.img before failing, so I reflashed the latest 4.4.4 update and tried again via Kies which also failed and this time when I try to reflash the 4.4.4 update it fails as well.
Now I'm currently trying a Software Update and Initialization via Kies, if it doesn't work what can I do?
EDIT: Changed to a different computer after trying all USB ports on my main one and it worked in ODIN.

[Question][HLTE]Root fails

Heya,
I have some trouble with rooting my Android phone. I thought that maybe you guys might be able to help me out. To explain what happened:
I had my phone with custom firmware and stuff, worked very well. Last saturday I got the idea to check if my recovery had updates. It did and by accident it started downloading and installing the same thing twice, yet it failed the second time. After that I was asked to reboot which I did. I basically screwed my phone up. After some struggling with firmwares I got my phone back on the stock Samsung firmware through Odin. I am now trying to root my device but without success... Can anybody help?
What methods I tried to get my phone rooted/update my phone:
Odin(Worked fine while updating my phone)
Heimdall Suite 1.4(says it has failed to download the PIT file)
Kies(Got an error when trying to update)
Kingo Root gave error 0x1F8232 (I tried both the PC and smarthphone versions.)
I can retry certain methods to get more inside info if you want. ^_^ If you guys have any input, it would be appreciated!
Did you try flashing twrp via Odin and then flashing supersu via twrp?
try CF_Auto root method

[HELP] AutoRoot in the last firmware.

Hi everyone, I wanted to put a root issue on the Galaxy S7 edge.
I installed via Odin the latest version of ITV PDA G935FXXU1DQIC and CSC G935FITV1DQI1.
Once you've finished flashing once, I put it back in Download Mode and always flash through Odin the latest version of AutoRoot.
However, the phone still hangs before loading with a screen that warns me that the integrity of the system has not been checked out. I had tried to disable all security settings several times, but nothing. Once I install the root the phone gives me an error telling me that to reset the device I should do a factory reset.
How can I fix it is what? With previous firmware it did not work out what.

If you are using Chainfire's Autoroot it wont work on Nougat.. if you use some third-party AutoRoot i can't help you.
Best way i can recommend to you is to flash latest TWRP and easly get root also you can flash some of great custom roms you can get here!
