[Q] Problem with two-way Gmail sync - AT&T Samsung Galaxy S 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshootin

Hey guys, I'm having a problem getting gmail to sync both ways in real time.
If I make a change to my inbox in my desktop web browser, it is reflected in Gmail on my phone instantly. However, if I make a change to my inbox in the Gmail mobile app, it doesn't show in my desktop web browser until I manually refresh the inbox on the Gmail mobile app. I've tried several different things including wiping the Gmail app's data, removing and adding back my email account, and looking through all of the account settings and Gmail settings. But, I can't get it working.
Does anyone have any ideas how I can fix this?

Mine has been doing the same, haven't seen a fix yet.

Gmail sync Issue/Question

Quick question, if i delete an email on the phone itself, it disappears from gmail on the web, which is the way it should work in my opinion. the odd part is that the opposite is not true. Is it normal that if I delete an email on the web client, it does not disappear from the phone until i manually delete it?
it should delete on your phone too. check the settings in gmail from your pc and make sure that imap is enabled. i just deleted an email from the web client, pressed refresh, then checked my phone and by the time i picked up my phone the email was gone.
I have the same problem but only with recurring events.

[Q] Disable GMail app to prevent marking messages on server

I prefer to use my computer to manage my email, but the GMail app on the rooted nook not only checks the mail, but seems to mark them in such a way that my normal mail client won't download them (Thunderbird set to the POP server). I don't have it set to archive messages, so I am not sure how it is marking them - I assume it is marking them as read, but when I check my GMail on the website they still show as unread. Does anyone know a way to change this behavior? I wouldn't mind completely disabling the app as I really don't intend using my nook as an email client.
Thanks

I was having the problem where I would my email, delete it, etc from my phone and it wouldn't update as such on my actual account. I just went to settings>applications>Manage applications>gmail>Clear data & Clear Cache
It started working fine after that.

I can't seem to find these settings - are you talking about on the Nook, or in my Gmail account online? In the Nook GMail settings, I find a "Labels" setting which allows me to set what is synchronized and how far back in days to keep sync'ed, but only the 'Important' and 'Starred' entries allow me to select 'Sync None' - the others (like Inbox) don't have that option. I can't find anything in my Gmail settings the gmail website, but maybe I am not looking in the right place...?
Thanks again
Account & Sync is not available under Settings on the NC.
I recommend to use IMAP and not POP with your GMail account in Thunderbird.
Then you'll see all your mails also when read on your NC. They will be indicated as read. The same the other way around: if you read them first in Thunderbird they will be indicated as read in Gmail on your NC.
Also moving to folders (changing labels in GMail speak) works both ways. Read up on using IMAP on the Gmail help pages.

Gmail Not Pushing/Syncing

I have noticed that in the past couple days that the gmail app is not autosyncing the new messages. I am not recieving notifications for new messages. If i hit refresh in gmail it downloads all the new messages.
I have checked all the sync setting in Settings/Accounts and Sync and everything is on and set correctly. Notifications are also set correctly in gmail.
I've tried uninstalling/reinstalling gmail but the problem persists. Anybody else having this problem also and know of a solution?

Go into the application settings and clear the data from the phone. Settings --> Applications --> Manage Applications --> GMail
The phone will then sync again from the servers.
I was having this issue too and it stemmed from a bad rom flash. After wiping completely and reflashing, it was fine.

If you read under the comments for gmail in the google market. It's a App issue with their newest update.... I now use K9 for all my emails.

PA and Exchange

Hi,
I have problems setting up exchange and I don't know if this is related to PA.
I already tried everything, deleting cache, deleting and re-adding account, deleting data of all related apps, playing around with the sync settings.... so the problem is that for email, it always gives me a sync error and the calendar just doesn't show up. If I go in settings in the calendar app, it just says no calendar for this account. It worked fine on stock android!
Any ideas?!
Thanks a lot!
Andy
BTW: I have a Nexus 5, latest PA beta
Try going to outlook web access in your browser. Then go to options. Next click on mobile phones. Try deleting some of the unused phone connections. Exchange usually only allows a few phones for each account and most times when you change roms it will create a new mobile phone connection for each one.
Thanks a lot for your reply!
Unfortunately, I don't have this option in the Outlook Web app- under Phone I just have the option to activate text messaging!

[Q] Emails Not Deleting on Device from Certain IMAP GMail Accounts.

Hi Guys,
I have a few email accounts setup on my phone, mostly Gmail, all with the same settings and setup with IMAP. Somehow most of the accounts work fine, but two of them seem to function more like a POP3 account. If I delete or mark the email as read from my phone, the change will update on the server and my computer. If I go the other way though and read or delete from my computer, the change will not reflect on my phone. Because of this most of my accounts show only a few unread emails, and two of them show 50 unread. Has anyone had a similar issue, and are there any thoughts to solve this?
I've tried deleting and adding the account again on my phone, and going through all the settings Gmail on working and nonworking accounts to compare. I'm using the stock email app on the Alliance KK Rom. Thanks,
Nila
