verizon s5 *rooted* - Galaxy S 5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello everyone, I have rooted my Verizon s5 and I have two problems. I cannot find anywhere how to get rid of the ota system update that pops up every 5 minutes, and number 2, I keep getting a pop up saying "Unfortunately weather has stopped." And I cannot do anything until I hit the ok button. Please help, if there is already a thread for this I'm sorry I could not find it.

Glad you searched, as a lot of people simply claim that they searched when they actually didn't. As there are a number of existing threads asking and answering both questions, what search keywords did you try? I'm surprised that you didn't find the existing threads.
You just need to rename or freeze the system app that produces the OTA update notifications. And there are literally dozens if not hundreds of threads on "xxxx application has stopped" and how to fix it. Basically clearing the system cache and if necessary the app cache and data in the Application manager.

[Q] media not working after 2.2 update

I manually installed 2.2 on my epic and the camera , media and ringer options do not work. Files are still there but get an error message. Anyone know why? Also is there a way to go back or un install the upgrade without losing my apps and stuff.
thanks in advance.
Please post questions in General section.
Have you manually removed the DRM apk's? If so, this causes audio problems. Hehe, I've typed this so many times, I should save it as an auto text. if this is your case, and you have questions about restoring, search this general forum... Or just ask here.
Sent from the future.
Im not sure what DRM apks are. I did not remove anything though. I also tried to re update it again and get an error. I also tried to install the DI18 file and it wont install either. So kind of stuck right now. All my media files are there they just wont open or work. Any thoughts?

Market Crashing Help pls.

Hello I'm still learning doing this Android on SD on HD2. I'm not too familiar with the computer terms as well. Sorry for that. But my Market keeps updating to this new market 3. something and it crashes when I boot market up. Or if it actually stays open long enough alot of the apps says not compatible with my Phone. I have searched the forums and read about people doing some APK and deleting the auto update. I'm not quite sure that that means or how to do it. Is there anyone that can explain?? Greatly appreciated.
I am using the AmeriCan Android on my HD2 from the SD card method.
Thanks
Mike.
go into settings - application - manage and find the market app entry, click that, then clear cache, and at the top, uninstall updates.
Now, i cant remember how to stop it updating itself, but if uninstalling eth update works, you are on the right track.
I have tried uninstalling a few times, but it keeps updating it self and then crashing. I'm not sure what to do.
now it's work but it appear the lower version of Android Market.
later update itself and crash again ....
help !!!
You may want to booting into recovery, advanced "Fix Permissions" this has been known to solve issues with the market
Hey Michidj00 could you explain how to do that??
Thanks!

[Q] voicemail missing after rom install

Hello,
I am trying to find out if anyone has had the same problem, I flashed a new version of a rom and update, then installed a nandroid backup and seemingly everything came up- texts, recent calls etc. but after a while a I noticed two things were missing my voicemail app- Verizon and the 'Here and Now' from My Magazine. Does anyone know the version that is supopsed to be on the phone currently with KK? I found a visual voicemail app which only seems to be a plain Verizon voicemail app. When I click on the icon to launch it, it starts but hangs saying "Please wait while we check your account information" then after a couple of minutes it stops saying, "Sorry w'ere having trouble setting up your service. Please try again later. If you still can't set it up, contact customer service at 800-922-0204 and tell the operator the error code is 9009". Obviously, I don't want to be assisted by Verizon and then have them say "i see your phone is unlocked and we can't help you" Anyway, the version voicemail that I installed is 3.0.4 and it is 11.80 mb. I tried to find it on 'Root Explorer' but can't seem to find it but obviously it's there, I just don't know how to find it. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated

Try using root explorer to push the app in instead of installing it. Copy voice-mail apk to your SD card. Then use root explorer to copy the apk to your system/app folder on your phone. Then long press the apk to bring up a menu, go to permissions. You will get a 3x3 pop-up box. First row check the first two boxes on the next two rows check only the first box. Reboot your phone and see if that clears it up.

Okay, qool

Need help with an app that has stopped working.

I keep getting an error message for an app called Selected, %1$s tab %2$d of %3$d and I've already looked to see if I can uninstall updates and have cleared cache. I want to know it is a legitimate part of my phone and if it can be uninstalled entirely.

Message (NOT Facebook Messenger) has stopped

Hello, have a nice day,
I am using LG V20 F800K, Android 7, rooted.
Recently I have removed some system applications to make the device work more smoothly. However, I may have mistakenly deleted one (several) apps, and now every time I read / send a message I get the "Message has stopped" message.
I tried deleting the application data, factory format but it still didn't work. Therefore, I'm sure I deleted the wrong app!
Please let me know which packages (APK files) are related to the "Message" app so I can check it again, add it and get it working again.
Thank you!

Either dirty flash the system again or change which app you use for it. Messages from Google is free had advanced features like rcs and spam blocking. LG software is a bloated interdependent mess...
