I everyone, first I apologize if this is a repeated question.
I have a D802 and running CloudyG3 1.2 for a while, I wated to shift to AOSP roms, Backuped my apps using Ease Backup.
Every time I restore the apps, after the reboot, alot of the apps disappear and cannot be reinstalled. Tried Titanium Backup, Go Backup, Helium. The same problem occures.
Any help please.
I have no solutions but I'm suffering from the exact same problem and found this thread by searching. The true test will be to see if apps installed from the play store will remain after a reboot. If not, then something is definitely not right and I'll need to claim warranty or something.
It's definitely not ROM related as this has happened on multiple ROMs for me.

I have had this Samsung Vibrant for a couple months. I have a good number of apps and did the one click lag fix sometime ago. Recently, I had experienced a bunch of force closes and overall bugginess. My Pure Calendar widget stopped loading. I emailed the developer. He had me send him the change log and responded to me that my phone had a bunch of problems.
He said that I should have wiped the phone before the lag fix. And that he can't help me until i wipe it.
Here's where I need help. . .How do wipe the phone but back it up in a way where I can get all of my apps and settings back?
Can you give me a step-by-step in "newbie language"?
After I wipe it, i will use the lag-fix and then restore the settings and apps, if that's the way I should do it (once again, what do you think?).
Sorry if I broke any forum rules or ettiquite. If I did, it was unintentional. I just need the help. Thanks in advance!
Generally the first step is to uninstall the lag fix. That may actually fix your problem since the earlier lag fixes were prone to degradation over time. I don't know which lag fix you installed and uninstalling it will take some research on your part.
After uninstalling the lag fix I would try flashing one of the newer roms that fix a lot of bugs and do not need a lagfix. Again, that will take some research on your part. Check out the bible in the development section.
Thanks for the reply, snowdogging.
I did uninstall it (v1). There is an option on the app that I used.
All I want to do is back-up, wipe, get back to original condition, and then restore my apps and settings.
It is not that hard to do with android but you can expect to lose some information. What I usually do is do a Titanium Backup of all my user applications. I then use SMS Backup+ to dump all of my text messages to Gmail. I am rooted so I use SU Explorer to make sure that all of my pictures and other important data is moved to my external SD card.
And then cross my fingers and use Odin to flash the latest rom that I think is worthwhile.
After a successful flash I do all of the first paragraph in reverse to restore my stuff. It is time consuming. As an example, the first time while learning took about 5 hours, while now I can probably do it in one.
Just make sure you can get into download mode while at the powered off green battery indicator BEFORE using ODIN and you should be OK to experiment. I have crashed ODIN and a bunch of other stupid stuff and am still on my original vibrant.
Anyone else go into the app screen on manage applications and see all the data flashing and the buttons too. I have to exit and go back in several times to get a stable screen to be able to the clear data or cache
Any particular app, or all of them? Are you using Titanium, or running a custom ROM?
I've never seen this until last week. I flashed the Virtuous Unity ROM, then tried to restore ChompSMS via Titanium Backup. Chomp SMS kept giving me force closes. Going to that app in Manage Applications gave me flashing, non-responsive buttons like you described. Hitting the Back button, and selecting the app again, made the buttons behave normally. Restoring Chomp using Titanium kept giving me the same result, whether I restored with app data or not. Just uninstalling the app, and installing the original APK fixed the problem. Not sure if the Titanium backup data was somehow corrupted, or what. But it seems fine now, and I haven't noticed this issue with any other apps (including ones restored from Titanium).
If the app is not one where you need to keep the data, just uninstall the program and re-install, and see if that helps.
EDIT: I see from your other posts, that you are also on Unity. So perhaps its some bug or incompatibility in the ROM? It would help if you mentioned things like running a custom ROM, when asking about an issue.

Its a known issue with unity. I believe the sensation has exactly the same problem with the stock rom
Hey guys. I've had it with MIUI. and i'm ready to switch to a new rom. i figured now was as good a time as any to try out CM7. So i downloaded the latest stable version, backed up my existing install and flashed. The phone got stuck at the bootscreen. I assumed it was because i neglected to wipe data and cache, so i went back, wiped everything, reflashed and booted into CM7(after an extensive wait)
Everything was running great and i just finished restoring my apps with MyBackup. I was getting FCs on a few apps, but i chocked it up to CM7 not having all the components that some of those apps require. I was about to start removing the offenders when the phone crashed and went back to the bootscreen. It sat there for 2 hours before i pulled the battery and restored back to MIUI.
In short, i really want to try out CM7, but if it's going to be this unstable, obviously it won't cut it. Am i doing something wrong??
Some apps just do not play nicely when being restored from a backup. Can you restore apps 1 at a time so that you only get the apps that you know work? Then re-download the apps that are causing problems.
Possibly. That seems like an unnecessary step though. Would a rom really crash because of app incompatibility? I thought they would just FC every time i tried to run them, not blow up the whole ROM.
If you are using ROM MANAGER you can try to use the utility for "Fix Permissions". I'm sure there is a way to do it in the recovery them selves, but the process escapes me.
This is not an uncommon requirement when restoring from one complex ROM to another.
I had some quirkiness restoring a few apps with Titanium backup. I ended up just reinstalling them from Market and haven't had issues since. Also, after restoring my contacts with Mobile Backup II, I could not edit them from the phone. Force closes. Had to delete them and re-sync with Gmail and exchange server. No problems after that.
I have flashed Synergy, Swagged Out Stock, SavagedZen, and a few others and always wandered back to CM7. In my experience, whenever you switch ROMs like that, there are always quirks, so I have taken to getting apps one at a time from MyBackup Root when I do switch. And yeah, I have had App conflicts cause forced bootloops before, it is not completely unheard of. I second the notion of installing one at a time, and Market DLing any that force loops. And as always, I reccomend a cache/dalvik/data whipe when switching full roms.
Sorry for noob question I'm changing roms often and wiping everything every time and installing all my apps from play store again and again. I know nandroid backups but if I back up my installed apps with a program like go back up, there would be any issues with my apps? Or should I do clean install every time I change a rom?
Most roms on the nexus 4 should be okay dirty flashing. Then if there are problems you can wipe everything.
If you backup your apps you should be able to reinstall them on the new rom no problems.
I always backup and restore my apps and data with Titanium Backup, without issue, I highly recommend the pro version as its a very useful app to have.
As stated in the title, I can't load any web pages in Chrome, Firefox, and several other browsers. My wifi is fully functional, but I can't load anything related to web pages. So using the XDA App, I can browse the fourms fine, but if I were to open a link to Google or anything, it will crash and return to the XDA App. This occurs when I try opening links from apps like Facebook as well.
At first, I thought this was a ROM problem or something to do with my apps, so I format and decrypted my phone and clean flashed OOS 5.0.4. It seems to work well for some time, but returned a good hour later. Restarting each time it happens seems to fix it for a short while, but I am quite annoyed of constantly restarting because of this.
I've searched around and it doesn't seem like anyone else has this particular problem with their OP5s so I'd like to fix this up if I can.
I am still on OOS 5.0.4, but now with NewKernel 1.29 from the OP5T thread. I'm also rooted with Magisk beta v16.2 and have the Pixel 2 Oreo WiFi v4, OnePlus Camera M, NotoColorEmoji Patch Modules along with a systemless font module installed.
@StarzSkyz have you tried another network like mobile or other wifi?

Yeah, each time it happens I try swapping from WiFi to data, but no difference. I'm currently trying to see if it was due to restoring a certain backup from Titanium Backup. I did recently find a post speaking of the problem, but for the use of debloater somehow affecting it. So it may also be due to the loss a system app.

You said you did already a clean installtion. So clean install again without any restore of settings and 3rd party apps not provided by the rom :good:

I feel like an idiot for not remembering about doing that.
I've clean flashed and left all the apps enabled and the problem hasn't appeared again. After taking a TWRP backup of that (just in case I mess up something again) I rooted without any modules other than the WiFi Mod(which I did feel like it being one of the causes, but it helped with connection speed) and the systemless font module and tried restoring only user app data(so a fresh install from the play store and then a app data restore, not touching system apps at all) and thankfully it didn't cause any problems, so I got to restore some data back.
Thank you for the advice of actually just clean flashing again, cause I was actually slowly uninstalling and restoring my apps. I apologise for not posting as soon as I found the fully clean installation working, as I really couldn't help myself and try see if it was due to having root and my user apps. Once again, thank you for your help with my problem here. If it appears again, I'll probably post here again if it happens again (hopefully it doesn't).
