Will Android Wear work well w/ the Touchwiz messaging app or is Hangouts necessary to use? Is there a general overview on Touchwiz + Android Wear I can look over as well? Thanks.
It works fine. It works with any app that gives normal notifications as it uses this to produce notifications on the watch.

Is the G Watch the best one out now too? It's $20 cheaper than the Gear Live on sale now. I feel like the Gear 1 feels more attached to Samsung for some reason though. I want to try the Moto 360 too. The release day will be key, but I feel like I might need to do a preorder as well.

I'm about to buy the tablet myself in a few days but everywhere and anywhere everyone and anyone says that Android doesn't have nearly as many tablet-optimised apps as the iPad. Do the apps run fine or not? I mean do they look good and is it easy to use them or not? Because for the iPad I know there's a separate category so there'll be apps for that.
So could someone confirm if the apps on this tablet run fine or not?
Thanks
They run crappy.

Ok just my experience, on android many more apps are tablet optimized.
When I was using an ipad it seemed they were all small or had the option to 2x it making it blurry and horrid.
I guess though the Google play store just doesn't show you apps it they're not compatible though, which is fine because for an app that isn't compatible with tabs there are 10 others that are.
And poster above.. I have no words

My friend there are more apps in the play Store that you could ever use or even fit into the N7. With all the customizations you can make from OCing to roms the sky is the limit concerning the tablet. All the options that android offers will always keep apple in the rear view mirror.
Yes the apps are easy to access, start and run quickly.
Concerning apps and compatibility always use a browser to see all the apps and look at the comments to see if there are any made by N7 owners. Since I have modified the dpi on mine most apps come up as not available and that is when I check the comments. If it's something I want to buy I'll switch my dpi back to stock. It's a pain but I'm never giving up true tablet ui.

In my exp i've had by means of trade through best buy almost all of the most recent tabs. in order generic android tab eclair 1, archos 101, ipad, ipad 2, xoom acer a500, playbook, lenovo k1, hp touchpad, playbook again, xoom again, achos 80 g9, acer 501, and nexus 7. Android is my favorite. I also like web os and bb os. ios has better game selection hands down. Android has better free apps hands down bb web had no apps. so all depends on what you want it for
Well with all the quad-core machines coming out these days I'm quite sure there'll be loads of great games for Android too. The third post is interesting. So the apps don't seem like they're just multiplied in size. That's good to know. As long as they look natural I'm happy because the Appstore with all it's apps is horrible [my sister got an iPhone 4S the other day and I kept looking for apps and I wasn't THAT impressed. In fact the Play Store is MUCH better.]
I'm going with the Nexus and I'm sure I'll be a happy customer just like 95% of people who bought the thing. [the 5% are the people who're experiencing problems but even they were happy with their device.]
Thanks for the feedback! Appreciate it very much
Hey guys, sorry if this isn't the right place to post this but I am not sure where to go with it.
I am looking to get a smartwatch, but there are so many and it's a pretty niche market that I have no idea where to go.
All I really want is a watch to control my music and send/receive texts from my phone. Seems very useful when biking and the whatnot.
I am running a Galaxy Note 2, that seems to have some deal of impact on compatibility it seems.
With a small keyboard and a tiny screen, biking and texting is hazardous to your health.
The BIG question is FACTORY or MODDED.
FACTORY: Omate Truesmart
MODDED: Galaxy Gear
*Edited for correct terminology
I currently have a Pebble, SW2 and a Toq and all three will do what you mention. Controlling your music can be made easier with the use of third-party apps in the case of the Pebble and SW2 and sending text messages can be done in the form of pre-made "canned" messages directly from the watches themselves.
Sorry I do not have much info on the Omate or Gear, as I do not own those smartwatches myself (yet) .
I would recommend you Millennius smartq watch. its running on Android 4.4, has some great features and quite cheapest as well. only $99 AUD. You can even sending sms, accepting or rejecting call as well.
I don't plan on sending texts as I bike, but read them and check caller ID, I'm usually meeting people so it would help greatly to take a glance to see what a text says.
I will look into all of these. I had no idea the Gear was rooted, very good to know.
Thanks a lot for all of the replies so far.
You don't run a TS unrooted. Ever.
From a pure performance standpoint. A Gear OC'd to 1.6GHz is about the same as the TS running at 1GHz.
Standalone- TS/x201
Companion- SmartQ or Gear
Companion (no games/vidoe media)- Toq
I currently have the mq588-L which is ok for calls an texts but find the volume too low..not updates or hacks. Can make calls and text but no Facebook etc. Just bought the zgpax and it looks solid...can work with or without a phone...good speaker android 4.0, camera and can be rooted. Can't wait to get it

Hello all, I am looking to either buy a new GPS running watch or an android wear device (had originally ordered an LG Watch R, but the order got messed up) to use while running. My question is, I know if I get a bluetooth heart rate strap, this will talk to my phone using either Runkeeper, Runtastic, Endomondo, or similar, and my phone will display current pace, current heart rate, distance and time. Do any apps have the facility to display all of this information on the watch. I know the new Sony Smartwatch 3 has built in GPS, but it doesn't have a hear rate monitor, so would still need my phone to receive the heart rate data. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Yeah runtastic will display everything on the watch.

great, thank you, just need to decide, LG G Watch R, Sony Smartwatch 3 or wait on the Asus Zenwatch (its not out here in the UK yet). I think the sony would suit my needs nest however.
Sony is currently the only one with built in GPS. Right now you need to take your phone with you for tracking. Tracking with only the watch isn't supported so far but already available in beta versions oft Runtastic and Runkeeper. You will still need some heart rate strap.

Tracking is supported with My Tracks, and then you can export it.
I have runtastic pro and a g watch r . My watch doesn't show the notification of runtastic and I can't start a session using the vocal comand on the watch. Why?
I think Samsung gear live has GPS, hrr and is running android wear. which makes it the complete watch. I ordered sony because the battery life is a little bit better and i enjoy that over the heart rate monitor, even if i run marathons.

You are right. Well, it's good that i bought the Sony i can use it to record tracks without the phone...
I have a Sony smartwatch an thinking about picking up a fitness band. Looking at the Garmin vivosmart because of its touch screen yet slim profile. Also does notifications. But main reason because android wear sucks at fitness stats. But I can't help but feel having both is a bit redundant. Anyone out there using both? Together? Separately for different occasions?

What specifically are you looking for that you can't get out of programs like Endomoto, Runkeeper, and Ghostrunner?
So, i ask, because before my SW3, i had (and returned) a Garmin 920XT (same software line as the VivoSmart). While the 920XT was functional, i couldn't find anything it did that justified the price over the SW3. While its not a great program, Google Fit keeps track of steps, and the aforementioned programs track and record fitness activities just great (Ghostrunner can export to Runkeeper or Strava). Perhaps you are in need to the really serious stats that the Garmin RUN-HRM, but then i would point you to the 920XT, and not the Smart...

It's not running activity that my Sony SW fails to take care of, it's the daily day to day fitness aspects such as steps taken, distance, inactivity, etc. And it's not a direct reflection on the Sony. It's android wear and it's terrible implementation of fitness tracking. The sony just actually benefits for running/biking because of the gps. But I wish it did the things I mentioned a second ago. It does steps but can't trust it at all.
For what its worth (again, having had the Garmin and going to the Sony), the Sony does no worse than the Garmin in terms of step accuracy (as in, its not). My 920 would count any bump (driving was particularly bad). Between google fit and runkeeper i get my same total information i did using garmin connect, so it works. But certainly, YMMV.
I'm using a Moto 360 and a Fitbit. The Fitbit is nice because you can use it to connect to MyFitnessPal to update and compensate for how much working out you've done. Currently Moto 360 has to be linked with the Jawbone UP app, which kinda blows.
I use a vivosmart to compliment my wear watch. In the end I didn't think the integration with my health ecosystem worked well enough and I am a heavy Garmin user as I am a keen cyclist

I had bought that and returned as I thought it was redundant having two things that displayed notifications. But now I'm tempted to get it again. Just sick of android wear an its lack of fitness tracking. I was going to get the fitbit flex because its the most minimal at $100 but than the vivosmart is just as minimal an actually shows you your info. So I don't know what to do.

I went for the vivosmart as I am already in their ecosystem as I use their cycle computers. Also I like the fact I can stick on an heart rate monitor with it when I go running

Will this work the default remote app is horrible and intrusive with their stupid reminders and ads.

Give it a try. Let us know.
The only reason I could see it not working is if the LG IR sensor is able to record commands as well as send them... no idea if that's the case.
I agree 1000% on the stock Samsung remote, just awful. I haven't seen LG's app, but an absolutely fantastic universal remote app is Smart Remote/Anymote (I see it called both, not sure why it has two names but it's the same app). The app does cost a few bucks, but it's so worth it. You can make custom 'floating' remotes incorporating as many devices as you'd like, it has a massive library of pre-programmed remotes in any category you can think of, I can't even recall the other features but there are a ton of awesome ones. If you use the IR emitter a lot I'd strongly recommend checking it out in addition to the LG apk :good:

+1 on anymote/smart remote. 100% better than any remote app, and well worth the few $s spent. I've been using it for some time now and haven't found anything that's even close.
Just a quick heads up with anymote I do agree that it is a fantastic app however it was missing some profiles for my home theatre equipment which sucked and I had to request a refund, I've started using sure universal remote which works awesome for me and had all of the remote profiles I needed including the ones for the ac in the house and the roomba, I now play with that little vacuum like an rc car when I get bored lol

On older devices such as lg g2 and galaxy s4 the apps were not interchangeable because of the different ir hardware. I would assume that's still the case since Samsung uses one way ir. I agree with smart remote being the best though, I use it on my note 4 and gear 2.
Thanks for all the input yes anymote is a lot better.
