[Q] Soft-Bricked My D800. - G2 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

After a few days of running the annoyingly buggy CM11 nightly for the D800, I decided to flash Mahdi. I grabbed the ROM from here, and being the idiot that I am, I wiped and flashed it without first checking if I needed the baseband or anything. It installed successfully (or so it said). I reboot, and BAM. Fastboot mode. At this point, I can't boot into recovery in order to restore a backup, and I can't boot into the system. Fastboot only. I then asked for some help on Reddit's /r/lgg2, and a great user helped me get out of fastboot by flashing several of these partition images. I was so happy when I found out that it no longer went into fastboot when I tried to reboot into system. However, all it does now is stay at the LG boot screen (apologies for horrible quality). Download mode gives me this. SuperSport's method doesn't help, nor does any other method I have come across. The LG FlashTool always gives me errors about my device not being a G2, because I think it is recognized as this "B100" model that I've never heard of. I really don't want to have to bring this to an AT&T device center, because they'll probably try to charge me some absurd amount for a fix that takes them 30 seconds. However, I don't want to be stuck using my scratched up S3 that can't hold a charge.
ANY help is appreciated!

Did you try with ubuntu or linux to flash the right partitions?
Sent from my LG-D800 using Tapatalk

Yes. Got me out of fastboot, but now I can only boot into download. When I try to boot into the system, I just get the LG logo and the notification light pulses.

Anyone? AT&T apparently doesn't have the G2 stock firmware, and told me I would have to ship it off to LG.

can u screen shot the lgflashtool what error u get?
u downloaded the d800 tot file?
and the LGUP_8974.zip file?

[Q] [Q} Is my D802 Bricked?

Hi all
my D802 can't reboot with following method, could you please help me investigate how to fix it?
1. Can't enter download mode: I power it off, then hold volume up and plug in USB, but only the first screen shows up, can't enter the second one:
http://i.imgur.com/Kc4egAZ.jpg
http://i.imgur.com/jdCWBEW.jpg
So I can't flash kdz image.
2.I am able to access TWRP with official factory default( power+volume down to power on, when LG logo shows up, release power and volume down, then hold power.). But no matter I flash CloudyFlex which in my sdcard, or sideload flash others ROM, the cell phone will no boot up, always stuck at LG logo.
Any possible way to fix? Thank you very much.

not sure, I did few stupid things before.
1. I flashed LG G Pro 2 ROM here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2673143 but it not good for me, so i went to recovery. but this rom replaced my recovery to a unknow one, not TWRP. when I was in this unknow recovery, my phone linked with PC via USB. PC found a lot of unformatted drivers, I did the most stupid thing: formatted one of them.
2. G Pro2 rom still can boot up, I flashed stock kdz, and rooted it with ioroot10, then flashed TWRP 2.6.3.3.
3. copy CloudyFlex_1.4.zip into sdcard through MTP mode of stock rom. reboot into recovery TWRP, flash cloudyflex, phone never boot up again.
4. No matter what rom i flash, always stuck at LG logo and the phone become hot.
sorry for my pool English.

Sorry man, I have no idea what you may have formatted then.. :/
I can't think of anything right now.. If you can't get to download mode and flash stock kdz again.. Then I don't know. I hope some one comes along that knows something. Sounds serious. I'll keep on thinking about things. But I have to leave the house now so..
Sorry.

[Q] Bricked? (VS980, bootloop)

Short version: Phone is boot looping at LG logo and when I try to volDown+power into recovery it gets to the factory reset prompt and I press power twice but nothing ever loads and the backlight just stays on. I'm guessing I no longer have a functioning download mode either because of the way these flashable bootstack zips we've been using on the VS980 ROMs mention that they disable download mode, so I probably can't use LG Flash Tool either. Bricked?
I had been on CloudyRom 1.3. I switched back to xdabbeb's VS980 ROM, the newest version with the 25B bootstack. As many people ran in to, for some reason after coming off of Cloudy, KnockOn doesn't work on other ROMs. I had tried to do this hidden menu trick to update the touch screen firmware which some people reported got the KnockOn working again. Long story short I was having trouble getting the hidden menu trick working while on the xdabbeb ROM, I went back to Cloudy ROM and tried to do it but that didn't fix it either. I saw people having success by going back to a purely stock ROM and doing the hidden menu trick from there.
Here is where I probably messed up, I had a backup from April of this year that I didn't have labelled/named well but I was certain it matched up with the last time I had probably been on a purely stock ROM when the VS980 finally got KK earlier this year, a backup I had made for the convenience of ever having to return to stock. I tried to restore this and that's where the trouble happened. At the time I figured worst case scenario would be that the baseband wouldn't match up and I wouldn't get a signal, but in hindsight I'm guessing it wasn't safe to try to restore this after updating to different bootstacks. Original KitKat rom was 24a I believe but I had just recently updated to 25B to use the newest xdabbeb ROM.
I saw a small ray of hope when I calmed down enough to remember the voldown+power sequence to get into recovery, but after reaching the factory reset prompt and pressing power twice to continue, nothing ever loads and the backlight just stays on, like my recovery is gone now too I guess.
And in a comedy of errors I'm guessing I no longer have a download mode that would allow me to use the LG Flash Tool through PC because these flashable bootstack files always mention that they disable download mode and I never worried about restoring it.
So, bootloop, can't get into recovery, probably can't get into download mode to work with LG Flash Tool.
Screwed? :crying: :crying: :crying:
Yeah, volUP + plug into PC just gets me fastboot mode.
Don't really understand why my recovery is gone, thought the button sequence to get back into recovery was the safety net to this entire thing and why I wasn't too worried. Was running TWRP.
I'm at the mercy of checking the internet when I have access to another computer because my phone was also my internet access on my home PC. Hoping someone can help. : (

[Q] LG G2 D800 - Gone Progressively worse.. Looks like completely bricked

Hi,
I have a LG G2 D800 (ATT Black version) which I was running with cm 11 for a long time.. Last week I got curious and tried to install CM12 on it and that's where started my nightmare.
To begin with, I think I flashed the wrong twrp version (d802) instead of d800.. So I was stuck for a while.. I finally was able to recover from that and Installed CM12. The install went ok, but the phone would freeze and turn off.. It wouldn't turn back on unless I did a soft reset.. I tried a few times and then gave up.. With the nandroid backup that I had, I went back to cm11, but the problem started to follow me in CM11 as well.. The phone was constantly rebooting.. Sometimes the phone would stay on for 2-3 hours and sometimes it wouldn't stay on for 2 minutes.. So I got frustrated and went thru' different threads and finally went back to Stock Rom using the LGFlashtool method.. In stock rom, the phone booted up fine, but the rebooting issue started happening there as well.. The phone was definitely much stable under stock rom than CM11/CM12 but it won't still power off all of a sudden and I could go a couple of hours before noticing that it had turned off.. Frustrated with it, I started all over again to root and install twrp and that's when it went from Bad to worse.. Something happened with my TWRP flash and I was not able to go to recovery or download... I was stuck...
I tried several methods. 1 ) Using ubuntu was my first try.. I followed the initial steps (ls devices and gdisk -l command) and after I ran the first step (dd if=/home/med/Desktop/sbl1.img of=/dev/sdb2), my phone went into fastboot mode and ubuntu couldn't recognize my device. after that.. I couldn't run the remaining commands..
2) since I was stuck in fastboot, I followed the fastboot method from another thread by downloading the fastboot and laf.img.... The phone was responding and said recovery erased successfully, but it kept going back to fastboot.. When I tried a different laf.img file, that's when the phone rebooted and now wouldn't turn on at all..
No LG image, no recovery, no response.. I've tried all button combinations (holding vol down and power, power alone, all 3 buttons, vol+ and power)... nothing happens with the phone... Windows doesn't recognize the phone.. It says 'lg g2 qhsusb_bulk' but that's pretty much it..
Atleast until today morning I had a LG image flashing that tells me that the issue is a software / partition issue.. Now I don't know if I have fried something..
I bought the fone in november 2013 and hence its out of warranty.. . I'm not eligible for upgrade till November and I'm stuck with using a iphone 4s (ouch...) until then... It sucks big time to go from the g2 to the 4s... any thoughts or ideas?
I had the same problem when I flashed the wrong kernel.... This link helped me http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2582142 one of these 7 solutions should help you....

Thanks. I looked into that thread before. Unfortunately in my case the phone is not recognized in adb or fastboot. Adb shows no device listed whereas fastboot says waiting for device.
Lg flashtool doesnt do anything either.
Only thing is that fone was showing up as unknown device and by me pressing vol up and power and vol down, it shows up as qhusb bulk..

Go to the Device Manager => device properties of the "unknown device" => Details => Hardware ID and search the value on the internet for a driver... Maybe with a driver you can get the phone to be recognized
Folks,
I finally was able to get my G2 working from a hard brick..
My final non working symptom : Blank Screen.. No download.. No recovery.. No LG logo… Windows was showing device as unknown device sometimes and sometimes as qhusb_bulk.
Steps that I followed: You need to know how to use fastboot.
1) Kept trying different combinations of the 3 buttons (power, vol + and Vol -). The one that worked for me was to unplug the phone from pc… Press all 3 buttons together for 15-20 seconds and will keys pressed, plug into the PC.
2) This put me in the fastboot mode.. Here I tried flash laf.img with several laf files. My phone was a lg g2 d800 (ATT variant). Nothing really worked..
3) So I downloaded the Stock Rom files (aboot, boot, dbi, laf, misc, modem, persist, recovery, rpm, sbl1, and tz images) from http://downloads.codefi.re/autoprime/LG/LG_G2). I flashed all these files using Fastboot and then after flashing, rebooted the phone.
4) The phone automatically went into AT&T update and at 3% failed with an error and booted into safe mode. (This is probably because when it got bricked, I accepted a OTA update on a rooted phone and I didn’t have twrp recovery either).
5) I came out of safe mode and booted normally and voila, I got the stock rom 4.2.2 on my phone.
Thanks so much to the various threads in XDA developers that I was able to fix this.. Much thanks to etm34 for this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2681089

Happy to see you solved.
All,
Even though I resolved my bricked G2, it is still giving me issues by turning off automically after a while... It looks like a hardware failure to me where it ceases to operate at times.. The phone has stayed on sometimes for an entire day and sometimes it goes off in 5 minutes.. I'm sending it to LG repair service.. Hopefully they fix it for me under warranty (even though it has been 13 months since i bought it)..

Cant boot up LG G2

Hey
I was on ressurrection rom and tried to go to Cloudy G2. Since cloudy asks for kk bootloader i used http://forum.xda-developers.com/lg-g2/general/d802-bootloader-changer-1-1-jb-kk-lp-t3104380 with the kk file. Installed cloudy with no issues. Rebooted phone and never again saw the light...
Been for several hours trying to fix it, reading, but it's 04am and i cant see clear anymore. Its my only phone and i need it
So... it does not enter recovery... After flashing i try the combo keys and nothing
I tried to use use the LG Flash tool to revert to stock. I downloads the kdz file but when starting to upgrade it gives an error.
Also tried follow the thread about reverting to stock using lg flash tool 2014 but the same error happens,,, switched usb cables just to be sure...
ideas are accepted... thanks
hmm, maybe wipe your phone AND try another flash tool perhaps?
Can you enter download mode? Do you get black screen or LG logo?
I would wipe if I could get into something to wipe it
Yes. I did get into download mode. But it failed using LG flash tool
I got it figured out and will post on case someone needs it.
I was able to enter agAin in recovery by using the combo keys, power + volume down and when LG logo appears release them and press both volume keys. That did it. Once again in recovery I flashed again kk boot loader, wiped all and flashed cloudy Rom. This time went all ok. Go figure, I did the same thing
well atleast it works now eh?
its working great now.. even better now that today i managed to make my gps work and fix in 5 seconds
Kudos m8! Glad you fixed it. Its annoying having a great device thats not functioning or give us back enough for what we paid for.

Yellow Screen of Death? Rpm Crash at boot

VS995 Unlocked with dirty santa, Konverged kernel, stock rom
The other day phone just randomly shut off without warning, battery was low (5%) so I figured battery just died. Went to plug phone in, got to the "device cannot be trusted" screen and to the LG screen, screen goes black, and gives me this yellow "RPM Crash" screen (see below). I can boot into fastboot just fine, and up until just a few minutes ago I was able to boot into twrp by flashing my twrp image as boot and rebooting the phone (if I use the button method it gives me the factory reset screens, goes to the lg screen, and goes back to the crash screen). I can reboot to recovery from twrp and it works just fine. Booting into download mode shows the download mode icon for a few seconds and then it goes black and to the crash screen.
Issues found/fixed so far
I saw in another thread someone had a boot.img issue so I messed with the boot1 and boot2 imgs from the dirty santa process and managed to get to a looping verizon screen with boot1 and the encryption unsuccessful screen with the boot2.img
In twrp my data and dalvik partitions were corrupted but I was able to reformat and repair them. (I found out when trying to wipe them in fastboot)
In fastboot, after working in twrp I was able to wipe and reflash all partitions except system I extracted from a kdz with no luck as far as getting past the error.
My system partition is currently wiped and I have not flashed a new system.img as fastboot won't let me flash it and I cannot get back into twrp to flash it.
I'm curious if this is more of a hardware fault than it is a software fault as download mode was also affected
Thoughts? Suggestions?

I have a H910 that just received a screen replacement and I am also getting the yellow error screen. I am still able to get into Twrp though. However no matter how many times I flash a Rom, it keeps getting stuck at the yellow screen.

Can you take a picture of of the screen, or is it identical to the one that has been posted? My guess is that you put the wrong screen on.

Here is the photo, sorry it's not the best quality since it's taken with a OnePlus One.
I had gotten the screen replaced by a cell phone repair shop. Luckily they still gave me the original screen. If it's a bad screen I will just get them to switch it out again...
You will have to upload a better quality picture for me to be sure, but I can tell you that you are getting an selinux failure for some reason when it is trying to load some driver. Again, I need a better picture.

Sorry for the delay, I had the repair shop reinstall the original screen I was using. I am still getting an error screen, but I have my actual camera with me so here you go. I have tried installing a new ROM, I've tried doing "STEP3.BAT": https://forum.xda-developers.com/v20/how-to/root-h910-v10m-t3664500 Because thought it needed a new boot.img
Still having errors. Any advice would be great. I haven't reverted back to stock because not sure how, and worried I'll lose twrp and would prevent me from actually doing anything.
I have a LG g4 that got the blue screen of death and it won't respond to anything I've tried so I'd say this is the same...........
my lg v20 started displaying this RPM crash screen two days ago. I am not certain what caused it, but it was immediately after charging it with a power bank. To boot mine, I have to plug the phone to a wall charger, once it shows charging, I press the power button and it will boot flawlessly, after that I am free to unplug it. I cant say if it wouldnt degenerate and I havent tried flashing the phone afresh. For now, I would back up my data to avoid surprises.

How do you boot into twrp? I am unable to. Are you currently able to copy your files from your internal memory to sd via twrp?
