I use my phone to play music at work, and rather than fumble through my pockets to try to get the music app open to pause a song, I'd rather just reach in my pocket for a remote to quickly press a button. I can't use headphones at work, so I'm not looking for any headsets, rather a remote.
I bought this:

But I got jipped, as it doesn't work for it
Anybody know of any?

hi, now i have googled for about 2 hours, but i dont find anything for ppc.
i have an adapter to use my own headphones. the adapter has the mic and a wheel for the volume and only one button, to answer a call.
but i want to use this button to control the music, for example one press for next track and 2presses for pause or something like that.
and when theres a call, it should be as normal, music fade out and button to answer the call.
anyone of you knows such a app?
here is an example, but only for palm

This could be very nice...
Hi all,
I have had my Hero since January, its all been perfect really apart from my headphones i use the standard ones which came with the mobile, so it comes with a small remote to control the music(fastforward/rewind/pause etc) I can still listen to music fine when using the headphones
for some Reason i cant use them anymore, none of the buttons responds while playing music, i can understand the remote being broken but then i still cant hold down the fastforward and rewind buttons onscreen to do it.
It would seem like the remotes broken but then why cant i still hold down fast forward on the phone itself to do the operation?
the remote is broken, you should get yourself a new one. I guess the microphone doesn't work as well, I had the same problem once.
the onscreen buttons of the default htc music app do not allow to fast forward or rewind.
I use my music player quite a lot, and am looking for ways to improve on the experience on Android phones.
What I wish to do is to be able to control the music in the following ways, regardless of whether the screen is turn off or on, and regardless of whether the music program is running in the foreground or background.
- long press volume up button: go to next song
- long press volume down button: goo to previous song
- press both button together: toggle between play and pause.
- normal volume up and down still controls the volume
I found a program in the market place, but it only works when the music player is in the foreground, and the screen must be on.
I use this feature a lot on my iPhone before bed, and hope I can do the same on my SGS.
Is there such a program you're aware of in the Market place?
that's interesting
however, I find it easier using my Bluetooth A2DP for that sort of things.
it works both in my car and my stereo headset
i can remote control the play of the music before/next, stop, pause, play, random, volume, etc
best is, if a phone comes in, it automatically switches to phone mode, and when the call is over, it resumes back to music mode.
The only single problem i've found is, i don't know now to answer the 2nd call via bluetooth, if 2 people are calling me at the same time.
I don't use Bluetooth. Also, I love connecting the music player to a proper sounding speaker system in my bedroom and lounge.
I know this would be a bit of a stretch, but what I would like to see is an app that would assign a BT device's function to a certain apps function. I guess to better elaborate on what I want here, I would have to explain what prompted such an idea:
I have a MotorRokr T505 FM transmitter 'headset'. It has a button on it for play/pause for music. On my Droid, I use XiiaLive a lot, and love listening to it in my car when I drive. But I am in and out of my car quite a bit so I have to stop it or else it just keeps playing on the phone. I can stop XiiaLive with the BT headset, but when I get back in and press play again, it starts up Music Mod and plays a bunch of random sound files found on my phone. Instead, I would like to make sure that XiiaLive is the app that plays when I hit play/pause on my BT.
OK, so, does anybody think this is even feasible for an app?
I am not sure if it is possible or not, but the if any app could accomplish what you are trying to do it's Tasker.
I like to listen to audible.com books with my phone. On my HTC M8, I could use the 3 botton headphone remote to pause playback, or advance or jump back using the buttons on the headphone remote.
On some other phones, the 2nd and 3rd buttons either do nothing, or can only be used to adjust volume.
Has anybody used the included wired headphone remote, or another one, to skip forward or back on the ZTE Axon 7?
I do not use Audible, but the included headphone remote only has volume up and down, with a middle button that pauses. If your app has settings that let you customize the remote buttons just for that app, you may be able to reassign these. Otherwise, it doesn't seem like it.

Thanks, I really appreciate the response. Looks like I'll be getting my phone on Monday from B&H and I'll begin to find out.
