Hello guys, i have a samsung galaxy s4 and i decided to trip knox and to install Paranoid Android because on youtube videos it looked really amazing. But when i installed it i noticed that it has terrible audio and microphone quality. I can't understand someone when i am talking on the phone. Also i can't listen to a song in full volume because it really sucks. Is this for my device only? Is there any way that i can fix this?
Also there are other bugs but i don't really care about them.
edit: my PA version is 4.5 beta 3
You need to take your issue to your device maintainer because it is not officially supported by the PA team
#stayparanoid
it's fine with the stock rom but i just wanted to make sure it's just my device, because if it weren't i would wait for a fix.
Stock rom is worse than custom. Always.
I had a similar problem once. Firmware update did probably solve it.

Hello Everyone
afew months ago I was using the leaked Jellybean for my SGS2 and came across a bug that is pretty serious to be honest
when you listen to music via music player with headphones
and use the facebook messenger incoming notification can cause the music to stop or play via external speakers this may not be serious to be most of you as this does not occur to whatsapp etc but it seems to cause the music to stop when SMS/MMS/Notifications comes in and after awhile it can irritate you if you are chit-chatting with a friend
I come from Cyanogenmod 10.1 and no way Im saying that stock is retarded etc this bug was only fix for 10.1 due to Entropy512 And Replicant work on a opensource hal which did the job but is not completed yet...
we all know that stock is smoother and uses less battery etc but this topic is always debate
people would in the android development would understand that samsung has modified the framework of android so it works as it does in that case they have also refuse to help us in open source development..
I actually very sad on how it has been for my device so far there is nothing much left to say all I can say is that I wont be looking for samsung to my next android phone after my contacts end..:crying:
that's not good
How is stock using less battery than cm if it so bloated?!
like I said this method is debatable so lets not go there...
I had the same problem in CM 10. Dont know what causes it. Sammy just released a stock update...but only 4.04

You can disable/delete bloatware. Cody himself posted that in CM, radio uses almost 2x battery, it's coz of closed source stuff. I'm a die hard CM fan still I've to use this $h!tty Samsung JB.
Edit : By radio I mean Cellular not FM
Hey guys,
I am the Android engineer responsible for the video playback and recording components on the Vine for Android app. We noticed that there is a bug on a rooted 4.2.2 ROM (mostly S2, prob CM related) that it did not implement one of the camera method (specifically, onPreviewFrame, the data returns null when using image buffering) that we are relying on to work properly. Just want to let you guys know what the problem is.

I'm on CM10.1 (4.2.2) on my Nexus S and I still have the "Initializing" problem after the update.
@op you do know about the open source camera s2 use ,you can look into that
Replicant guys made it

Recording worked when I was on stock 4.1.2 rom, but it force closes upon recording when I'm on cm10.1. Is there an easy fix for this?

Any news on this bug fix?
Vine crash
I'm on latest update of Vine.
It still crashes less than a second after recording. I keep on sending crash reports hoping they can fix it.
I am running X-treme JB rom v9 with Dorimanx kernal. Android 4.2.2.
Best ROM I've ever used. Everything else works great but I just want Vine to work!

new update
vine has updated.
they say its the biggest update yet for android and has new shooting options ansd camera options etc.
might be worth trying again with a 4.2.2 rom to see if it works.
i am sticking with neatrom for the min (4.1.2) as it works with instagram and vine. once both aps work with 4.2.2 aosp and aokp based roms i will go back. i miss halo and pie

Thanks for the info. Just updated and it still crashes. Unlike last time it would be half a second, now it's instant.
However! Using the front facing camera works! Progress?

i think its going to be a long wait. most aosp roms are based on CM. the problem is CM use a hacked rear camera with higher resolution. aps are created using normal android firmware so dont take into account the new hacked camera. unfortunately i think the makers of vine will see modified firmware user base as quite small so not bother to change their app and CM is unlikely to undo a better camera for the sake of 2 aps (same bug is in instagram video for the very same reason as vine)
neatrom works with them all as they are based on original samsung firmware but i prefer aosp roms but till the bugs for these 2 aps are sorted i'll have to stick to neatrom as 80% of what i do on my phone is instagram or vine related. oh well

I wish either Vine or CM and X-treme could come up with some kind of workaround.
I am missing a lot of moments that a standard photograph cannot capture and a video is too cumbersome.
I'm having to use my girlfriends iPhone when I have perfectly good Android hardware in my pocket!
By the time I have the iPhone in my hand and unlocked the precious 6 second moment is gone, FOR EVER.
Come on Vine! Can't you enable a compatibility mode or anything? :crying:
X-treme Rom v10 will be ready soon by the looks of things. Looking forward to it!
Does anyone know if this will fix the problem? (cannot currently write on all threads as I haven't enough posts)
@wzsddtc2
Nasty bug. Vine seems to be the only app on cm 10.2 that does not work..
with the latest update they outright claim your device is not supported. (It worked perfectly on Official 4.1.2 roms)
is this going to be fixed?

That's be cause we are probably the only app that uses that special method that Samsung broke.
The same bug happens on S4's front facing camera driver, but Samsung has provided a workaround for that (we post-process the images).
On Cyangenmod, the problem is they don't even pass back a bad frame, it just passes back nothing, so we can't apply any workarounds there.

That's not true. We saw the log from CM's bug tracker, it is entirely on their side and they just won't admit it.
Apps will request 640x480 preview size, but CM will report it succeeded but record at 720x480, which is a higher resolution.
We use onPreviewFrame() to get video frames and expect 640x480 frames, but CM will give frames at 720x480.
Because we give buffer frames at the smaller size, CM will treat them as invalid buffers and then just drop the frames.
Totally insane.
I'm using a t0ltetmo with the newest Carbon Nightly and Vine recording doesn't work.
Do you guys have a list of custom ROMs that is compatible with your app?
This is a bit annoying.
Hi there, Vine still doesn't work
Did you give up ?

Yeah I gave up. I got an S4, running AOSB and everything is working well.
The S2 is a backup phone now.
ok so apparently no one fixed this issue.. i tried a bunch of cm based roms and different versions of android and ive found problems with video upload to instagram (upload bar just stuck at middle and wont go on), vine app wont work (it just tells me that im using custom rom and there's a problem with camera), upload videos to twitter also stuck.. so it seems to me that the problem is with CM kernel and video format.
still cant believe that no one addressed this issue over 2 years now, im stunned
Hi Everyone! So I've been presented with this problem as soon as I flashed the factory image of Kitkat 4.4 on my Nexus 4.
Audio stutters momentarily on random occasions, whether its audio or video playback.
So to solve this, I flashed GNOME II PAEK 1.1 ROM which is based on KitKat 4.4.2, still the same problem.
This never happened on 4.2.2 or 4.3, we did have deadlocks on 4.3 but never audio problems.
Lately, I've noticed the audio stuttering when I'm surfing the web using built in Chrome and the other time I noticed when I turned on the WiFi using the toggle in quick settings.
Some fine mess the user is in these days. I wonder what google has been thinking lately, don't they test the software properly before the release anymore?
I would like to hear your opinion, has anyone else noticed those slight stutters?
Regards.
P.S I've searched over the internet and many people with different android devices are having this problem on KitKat.
I guess it is part of the "DSP Tunneling" feature that puts more parts of audio processing into the DSP instead of the CPU.
It might cause some issues right now, but in the big picture Google is making Audio processing more battery friendly.
So i personally support it and hope they do not just revert it back to the old way. It could need some improvements, no doubt they will come time after time.

If its battery friendly, it could be good, but the users needs a fix soon.
Mainly because not everyone has the time to root their device and flash previous Android version after the update and those who choose not to update, they're stuck with annoying update reminder(talking about the general users here).
I'm all for the improvements but not at the cost of broken features. Besides, I've been monitoring the battery drain manually on stock and custom ROMS and I didn't notice much noticeable change. Lets see what happens in the future.
Pretty sure audio tunnelling is Nexus 5 only

This is a very unusual post for me but here we go:
I've been rooting, installing custom ROM's etc for about 6/7 years now, no phone has been saved from the rooting process but after the G4 plus I had failed I'm err'ing on the side of caution and after some questions answering with as definite an answer as possible to back up my own research:
I'm looking to install a LOS based rom (always been on CAM/LOS) and I'm wondering:
1, I use the NFC on this phone, does android pay work on an unlocked bootloader and a custom ROM?
2, What is the camera quality looking like on the custom ROM's?
3, I've briefly looked into the magisk thing in regards to banking apps etc, anyone had any joy getting them working?
4, finally, all Bluetooth working ok? I have the Moto 360 so need to ensure this works too.
Thanks in advance, like I said it's a rather unusual post for me but I just wanted to get some answers
Cheers guys and girls
Honestly I haven't even had the need to mess with the software on this thing yet. I'm getting insane battery life and great performance. Now later on the year I might go the custom ROM route but for right now it's pretty damn good stock. Very few things I miss from having root/ROM now
I'm at the same point to be fair, it's like an itch that needs scratching lol. Just missing the themes really more than anything.
Thank you for taking the time to reply
Bettry life and performance in stock rom is great and rom is near stock with some useful enhancement so i think atleast for me there is no need to install any custom rom.Battery life is insane in stock rom and you will not face any kind of issue in stock rom
My pixel and g5+ remain unrooted. I was in the same boat for previous phones (and tablets) and rooting them. At this point, I would have to struggle to think of a reason to root.

Most of the custom roms do not comes with root now a days sl
Android pay should work if you dont root
If you use camera a lot than you will not be satisfied with camera in custom roms
Bluetooth works fine
Again banking apps will not work if you root...
I tried pretty much every custom rom available for this phone. The camera on all of them is a bit iffy. Mostly trouble focusing (especially manual focus and macro shots). After manual focus, sometimes the camera will crash. This is the case for most roms.
I did have some bluetooth issues too. The phone connected to the car without any problems, but I couldn't make any phone calls. It wouldn't connect to the dialer to actually place the call.
I went back to the stock rom: rooted, Pixel launcher as system app so I have Google Now cards and flashed the mod that corrects the aggressive sharpening of pictures. Couldn't be happier. Really excellent phone.
Just an update for anyone in the same predicament.
I took the plunge as the itch got the better of me. I went for the AOSPExtended ROM. Here is some feedback thus far:
Camera: tried the stock camera and the google one. Autofocus is pretty much crap as reported. It's OK sometimes and not the next. Not had chance to try too many shots to be fair so can't give a comment on quality.
Bluetooth for android wear and connecting to a phone kit seems fine, I've not made any calls via the handsfree kit however.
Performance and battery seem OK. Nothing to really report there.
I have root via magisk and the magisk hide let's me use Android pay, Netflix and my banking app. They all previously picked up on the unlocked bootloader.
On the whole its not bad at all. Camera is a bit annoying however I'm sure it will be sorted soon. Verdict is out on if it i s worth the hassle or not yet.
Hi All,
I hope your festive season was full of joy and you're all enjoying 8.0 on our phenomenal device!
I have but one issue with the update, and that lies with Snapchat and WhatsApp (all I use, but there may be others); when recording a video with the front Cam the mic is extremely muffled. This did not happen on Nougat for me, but I did notice issues since the Open Betas.
Is anyone else experiencing this issue? Does anyone know of a fix? I'm assuming it's because the apps aren't fully optimised for Oreo just yet. As a side note, the dedicated Recorder app and Camera, all work perfectly fine.
If there are any brilliant minds who have noticed the issue and are currently working on a fix/patch, I am more than happy to test, as both of these apps are fundamental to me maintaining a good relationship ??
I am currently on xXx 9.0a with Flash kernel, but I had the issues on the OEM Rom.
Enjoy the rest of 2017, and I wish you all good health and happiness in the New Year.

I have this problem and couldn't find the fix. I even sent the phone to repair center twice with no change.
I found this link: https://forum.xda-developers.com/apps/magisk/module-oneplus-one-bacon-mic-fix-t3503128 but didn't try it yet, I don't know if it works.
