Get rid of brightness and music control - G2 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Are there any ways to get rid of brightness and music control in the notifications with stock (no root)
I know that in the xposed or some of the roms can do that
But is there any method that i can do it without root?
Because i have to use some apps that will block root device
I tried devicefaker when i use a custom rom, but it did not success, so i have come back to stock now

Do you mean the Brightness and Volume Sliders? You can edit them out.. Pull the notification bar....scroll to the right and click "Edit".... then uncheck Brightness and Volume. Hope it helped.

I know what u mean
But I think only some custom rom has it
I am on stock d80220c(no root)
Thanks u for trying to help

As you said, that's unfortunately on possible on custom roms like CloudyG3.

Just root and use root coak for the apps

Tried, did not work

[Q] need a good rom

i hate rooting . yet i need one
i need a root that grants me access to my s4 sytem files and change them
and a root that can also run odexed and deodexed apps (not sure if possible)
but i dont want to feel like my device is rooted . i want to keep stock everything . just change some apps and acess system files without doing anything else . (its like a stock rom with ability to change what i need)
maybe an app that give FULLLLL backup of my phone (system . apps . system apps. touchwiz UI. and al those stuff

Root with deodex support is not possible you've to install a ROM that is deodexed to have a deodex firmware.
BTW don't hate so much root... You can mod whatever things you want but keep all stock like me (I don't like so much Aosp ROM and touchwiz ROM that change much things).

Just root the stock ROM and flash a custom recovery (ClockworkMod, TWRP, etc) and you will have exactly what you want.
No need for a custom rom.
Root works fine on stock. It's the apps that give you access to do the stuff you want, not the ROM. The apps are all on google play.
If you want further recomendations for a custom ROM, you cannot ask for that on XDA. Opinions on custom ROMs are just opinions based on other people's needs. As such, they have no meaning to anyone else. What the best rom for you is, might be the worst rom for me. So "best rom" questions are not permitted on XDA because there is no best rom.
As for choosing which rom is right for you, you are expected to read teh development threads as all the information you could possibly ever want to know is contained in them. Then make a few choices for yourself and test them out. See which one works best for you.
That said, if you really want that stock feel with no differences in UI or anything else, then your best bet is to root your stock rom and stick with it. IT's insanely easy to do. Takes 10 minutes (if you stop to eat a sandwich while doing it)

Odexed vs deodexed is explained in abotu 500,000 places on XDA. Use the search feature and you will find more than you ever wanted to know about it.
CF Auto Root will root your stock ROM. You use Odin to get it installed. It takes 30 seconds. Literally 30 seconds.
Then you have root.
Then you can use all teh root apps you want.
You can also install a custom recovery either via odin or with apps that flash it for you from the phone (Like ROM manager or TWRP Manager)

Yup.
That's one of the catches. It's why they make T Shirts that say "I VOID WARRENTIES". It's kind of a badge of honor.
However, you can also use Tiangle Away by Chainfire to reset your flash counter, thus hiding that you have flashed a lot of stuff.
However, you cannot udo the Knox flag, which says that the phoen has been messed with. However, warrently doesn't seem to be affected by this in real world trials thus far. Many people report sending knox tripped devices in for warrenty service and not having any negative effects.

Root it.
Use Triangle away.
THEN make all your modifications to the phone. Triangle Away won't be the cause of the brick if you do it in that order. Triangle away causes problems when you try to use it when you aren't on the stock rom or recovery. So use it before you change the rom or recovery.

I used mskips toolkit to install my custom recovery (TWRP) and it didn't trip KNOX for me, you can find the thread here : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2678641
As for doing your backup try this which I found using google in about 3 minutes of searching. http://www.addictivetips.com/android/what-is-twrp-how-to-install-use-it-on-android-devices-guide/
This might help with things that you might want to do later : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2192841

How can I change toggle colours?

Hi guys,
I've been looking around XDA for ways on how to change the colour of the stock toggles in kitkat. I can't find any other method than flashing a custom file via a custom recovery. I haven't tripped knox as of yet, so I'm trying to hold on to that as long as I can. Is there any other method via root explorer to change the toggle colours? Any help is highly appreciated guys.
There is at least one app that can do that: XQuickSettingsToggle
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2363953
I have not tried it on my S5
Xposed module Wanam will do it as well. Actually there are numerous ways to theme the quick settings tile colours as a search would show. Few if any of which require a custom recovery.

Google assistant

Has anyone received Google Assistant on their phones yet? Just curious.
Yep. You can force it with a build.prop edit. It worked for me, but I think there are mixed reports. Root required.

I'm surprised to hear some people still don't have GA natively. I'm a long time HTC user, but I just bought my 10 last Fri. it's pretty sweet. although, I must say, I still REALLY like my One M8.

I unlocked my bootloader Saturday but I'm reluctant to root because I don't want to lose Android Pay. If I can modify some the build.prop for Google Assistant and get wi-fi hotspot then reboot so I can use Android pay then I might.

I know, but I've rooted and messed with custom ROMs on every phone I've had and I'm kind of tired of messing with that stuff. Really I think the best thing I could do is buy a Pixel. I'm tired of the different phone manufacturers and their bloated ROMs and the constant problems that custom ROMs have. At least for right now. Thanks though. I'll keep it in mind if I ever feel like jacking with that stuff again.
"OK Google" Always on!!??
So has anyone else noticed this?
The attached screenshot shows the settings for the "ok google" always listening feature. I know this feature is useful to launch google from any screen or even when the screen is off but I do not want this on for privacy reasons. I was always able to disable it on Marshmallow but now with N even when i turn it off it turns back on.
How to try to reproduce:
Turn off the feature
Exit the settings menu
Go back to the Ok google settings and see if its enabled again.
Is this happening to anyone else!?

you must not be familar w/ Magisk....the "magic" of magisk can modify the phone w/o actually modifying /system, so technically u have a stock device but custom at the same time...plus magisk hide allows AP to work & pass SafetyNet
my Magisk ROM has all the mods & bloatware removed just like my custom ROM...

I didn't even try after unlocking because I'm still waiting for my bank to support Android Pay, but I just checked and your right. I'm blocked from Android Pay. Mine seems to work fine. Have you tried clearing the Google App data? I had an issue with a couple of apps after the Nougat update and had to clear the data and uninstall then reinstall the apps to get them working correctly.

I'm confused . . . My bootloader is unlocked, has been since I got my 10 last summer, and I just used Android Pay this weekend, and Magisk Manager says I'm currently passing SafetyNet. Android Pay is checked in Magisk Hide.
Are you saying that unlocking the bootloader alone will cause SafetyNet to fail, but Magisk Hide will then allow it again?

yes, merely having the bootloader unlocked even w/ 100% stock ROM, safetynet will fail....the beauty of magisk is that it hides it
I think at this point I'd rather relock my bootloader and go back to using my Galaxy S4 while I try to sell my HTC 10 and then put that money towards a Pixel. Anybody wanna buy a phone? ?
It's here! I literally just this minute got Google Assistant!

Is magisk a ROM or more of a mod? And what is magisk su? I'm going to try and get my phone rooted this weekend but I can't find a tutorial thread, it seems to be scattered everywhere. It seems like I fastboot TWRP, flash SuperSU, flash magisk then install magisk manager from Google Play?

This says it can do it with adb - https://play.google.com/store/apps/...der&pcampaignid=APPU_1_vlhmWvjEC8z1kwWAvavYCg
If you are trying to do it without root or recovery or adb, I doubt it. There are a few apps that can hide it without root, but it won't be persistent, you'll have to keep resetting it.
Anyway, why not root?

Hello, thank you for this quick answer!
Well, I rooted just one device, was a Xiaomi MI5, easy backup with TWRP and flashtool, and after installed Paranoid Android. But, root a Sony smartphone makes me insecure. I need to downgrade my update version, to backup drm key (to 34.1.A); and I dont even know if this backup is really enough to restore things like camera post process or x-really image. So I need to root, and after repair drm key to not lose some sony stuffs. So I m thinking that wouldnt be that easy. ADB for disable navbar would be the best and simple, but if i dont find other way, I ll try to root this phone. This is my first xperia, everyone says that there is "no going back" after root this device, losing warranty and a lot of sony softwares... What do you think about? is that hard or unsafe?
By the way, a tried this app (Navigation Bar Editor), but this only hide navibar, not disable it. If you touch bottom area to swipe a comand the navbar instant appears. But thank you for the suggestion. anyway If you can show me some videos or links that make root a simple ou at leat a safe process I can change my mind. Im not fluent, sorry if my english is confusing

Obviously whatever you do has a risk and it's your choice. I personally didn't find it too hard, but it does take some time. MM ftf is here, (for one) - https://mega.nz/#!lx5lSCCI!KAddBZkiFyLNj87gxzs69475nFnTHQLNIlobZq4sKRQ - so make a backup, download ftf, download stock N from Xperifirm, flash MM, run ta backup tool, unlock bootloader, flash whatever you want after that. Then you can restored ta and relock bootloader, if you feel like you have to at some point...

Custom ROM with no root

Hey guys,
I wanna reinstall a custom rom on my Mi9T, but I need one with no root or a way to banking apps don't know that I'm on a custom rom. I always used custom rom in all my smartphones with magisk to pass in Safetynet, but now some baking apps don't work anymore, like C6 bank (digital Brazilian bank), and other shows a message that in a few weeks my device won't be able to use the app because it's not safe and not use the original rom. All these apps are in the magisk hide, the magisk it's up to date too, I tried everything and nothing works.
What do you guys suggest? I don't want to go back to MIUI and for me, I don't need the root/magisk on my phone, but I wanna continue to use a custom rom.
Thanks

In the Magisk Wiki pages there are more hints how certain apps detect root and how to hide from, not only about Magisk hide
On the other side, to flash custom ROMs you need to have Bootloader unlocked. And that can be again a way for detecting 'root' (apps do not tell you exactly what unsafe they detected), hence you may again end up not being able to use your banking apps
To stay 100% safe in that cat and mouse game of "root" and detection, you should reflash stock, relock Bootloader and in future exclusively wait for OTAs to upgrade your stock ROM
