Hi,
is it possible to use the android calendar without a google account?
Can we mod it to use it without google? I mean mod source code and compile it new?
Could some one do it?
Can i install a google account on defy without internet?
Mod?
Tool?
Hack??
Big thanks for help!
Bye
I think you can, but I haven't tried having removed the stock Calendar app already. BTW, there are some alternative calendar programs that don't use the built-in database, such as Fliq.
You can always change the codes yourself, but from the way you raised the question I don't think you know how to do (and nor do I), and I doubt if anyone is interested in doing this. Of course, if you're willing to pay a reasonable bounty then it's another question...
Finally, an Internet connection is needed for setting up a Google account.
Maybe if you tell us what you actually want to do, then we can give some more useful suggestions.
Hi, thanks for answer.
I only know jorte, how has got his own database.
All other software usere the google account.
Id like to have a google free sync android, which i must not show every time, if it has synced with google server.
Please, can you tell me which devices have got a own calendar which not use the google calendar?
The google calendar looks realy nice.
Why no one want a google free and without sync calender?
Btw i cant mod the code.
Iam not a coder, only admin.
Can i activate the calendar without a google account?
so that i can use a second software how uses the calendera database?
Big thanks
You can activate a Google account without syncing your Calendar, Contacts and such with Google. They can be disabled in Settings.
If you want to go a bit further, just remove the respective *Sync.apk from /system/app (search for posts on how to remove system apps) provided that you've rooted your device.
This is all?
But is the system app *sync.apk only for google sync?
Or can i even sync with mypohone explorer any more?
Yes.
Yes.
Solution?
Hello,
I had the same problem and i found out that Jorte ( found on android market ) did do the thrick for me. It is pretty standalone. Notice that of you want notifications ( sounds etc ) in Jorte that you need to configure that in the original agenda of defy.
Hope this is your solution, regardings Rick
It IS possible
Hi,
I have CM7 installed, at first without GoogleApps. Then it is not possible to use the native calendar program. But, if flash gapps, bot NOT login or create a new account, the calendar app works fine, though.

Hi, how have you installed CM7 on Defy?
I found out another trick on my SE LWW. After installing CM9.1 with GApps i replaced the Calendar.apk with native SemcCalendar.apf from official Firmware, but FC. After replacing google's Calendar.apk back i was able to use in normally.
Please ask all questions in the Q&A section. Thread moved there.
I know this isn't Milestone2 specific but I'll post here anyway as that is the hardware I'm using.
The issue is this, I have two gmail accounts and I have to always add the google account I use for market purchases first so I can reinstall my previous market purchases. I then add my second account that is used for all other google activity including google talk but I can't see anywhere that will allow me to change the default account that google talk uses to login in to Android (it defaults to the first account you added).
I can't find a preferences/settings file and was hoping someone may have stumbled across how to do this?
Cheers
Vaughn
I have same problem didn't find the prafference setting. But what do you think so if we set preference setting on desktop and then log-in to our device.
I needed to change the Google account in my NSTG but couldn't find an obvious way to do it from the existing apps or tools in my rooted device. Removing accounts.db from /data and rebooting seemed to do the trick - I was then able to add a new Google account by using the Market app. Mail, calendar, etc. sync, Google Talk works and installed apps can be updated via Market. I don't know what effect this has on the B&N account and on-line library as I don't use their services but at least the stock reader app and library continue to work OK.
You might have been able to do it through the Gmail app's settings.
Thanks. At least in the Gmail app that I have there's only an option to add an account. Maybe it would allow me to delete the old account after adding a new account but I'm not going to test that now that everything is working perfectly. If someone could confirm that - whether one Google account can be deleted if there are multiple accounts present - I'd appreciate it.
I have a google apps domain (2300s.com) but get the following error when trying to configure my account :
Sorry, Google doesn't recognize that email
is there some kind of DNS record that should be updated?
thanks
/Morten
I have similar problem. When I try to add google apps account it forwards me to web page of the service. As a consequence I cannot add this account although it was working without problems on older androids
Hi,
i have the same problem with my n5 and n10. I opened a ticket at goolge apps team, they confirmed the bug.
I found a temporary solution:
Install 4.4.4, add setup you accounts then do a sideload update to lollipop. The google apps accounts work fine.

My friend used an unrooted Galaxy A3 2017 with the original Samsung Stock Rom Android 8.
Yesterday she tried to backup my data in the Samsung cloud. I don't know why but after that all the calendar events and google location history data is missing.
In the cloud stored 1kb calendar data that is not enough for 5 years full of dates and events. Google location history is generally not saved in the Samsung cloud.
Google also did not stored both data. I read in forums that is because of the enabled battery save mode. (ok I accept)
I did not know what was wrong, why the phone is deleting all the data :crying:
So is there a possibility to get at least the calendar dates?
I noticed following:
- in the system app calendar storage there is still Userdata of about 50MB but I can not see this data in Client Apps like aCalendar, Samsung Calendar and so on.
Are there any temp files or something I could access with a file explorer?
- the calendar dates were stored in a google calendar. But it doesn't synced the data with google over years. A google takeout of calendar data is empty
There is only deleted Calendar and Google Maps location history on the phone and not synced? Not contacts.
- I did not find any .ical, .tmp or similar file on the phone where I could read the missing calendar dates. Is there any location where this files could be saved?
- If I root the device all will be overwritten because I have to flash a new os image, right? So I guess rooting and looking in the root folders is no option?
- I installed TWRP Bootloader, but I also had no access to the root folder.. I guess it's because the missing root authorization
Even the Samsung Smart Tutor could not help her. So I would be really really happy if one expert had another idea or even small hint what I could do to rescue the data..
Thanks a lot!
