Whats is Best Cyanogen or Custom Rom?
What do we get in Custom ROm?
and
What do we Get in Cyanogen Mod

cyanogenmod is a CUSTOM ROM both are good the best is stock and creed rom 3.5
SOME of them need clock work mod and SOME OTHERS not

A CM 7 is smooth,fast,low memory consuming,low RAM consuming,battery saving MOD which is not based on Stock ROM

This rom is really good, and I think it can enable gpu driver on GY (I think).

CM is really bugged, wifi, 3g, graphics, bluetooth, and more (when I tested it). Is better to use Creed's ROM or ChobitsDigitalis (the roms i like most).

I dont remember where I saw it, but is so probable that gpu hw acceleretation can be enabled, since CM just run with it.

Takea a backup from CWM and flash merruk kernel. Most probably, it'll work.
2nd case, if you want to replace the repencis kernel with whatever kernel, just flash it.
Now i'm starting to think whether this was sent from your mind using 'commonsense' or 'nonsense'

But, its really awesome, overclocking is atlast stable and performance is excellent, its really deserves to install that even its a difficult way

i use repencis v3.5 rom.before, i use some add ons or patches,i don't know what to call this one,like 4 way boot,some tweaks moddling in the status bar.when i flashed the merruks kernel i encountered so many fcs and then bootloop.when i flashed again without anything just a plain repencis rom everything went fine.im not good on this and i don't know what is the exact reason but im sharing what i have encountered before.

Which kernel did u flash and how? plz tell me the detail. By the way Merruk kernel is very unstable. I recomment u not to use it.

Some roms do not function with kernels other than those included in the rom..
Also you must follow proper instructions to flash kernel
one thing more... After flashing merruks kernel you have yo flash ext4 convertor
it will convert your /data /system and /cache tp ext4 which is not supported by some kernels and rom dont boot

I recomment u to use savie or kuro best for battery saving as well as good performance . search for it in the forum.

Dont say merruk kernel is very unstable....
Say that u dont know how to flash it properly and use it...

That was really rude bro.
I mean to say it`s for advanced users. Becoz to install it successfully without any errors is difficult for one who is new to such stuffs.But one can easily flash
other kernels like savie,kuro,hells fusion etc following simple steps.
By the way for ur kind information i have once successfully installed the Merruk Kernel but changed becoz it was power hungry

When i used JBv3 i was flashed White 1.2.0 kernel nd its working fine but i'v got a different problem with JB

I think you downgrade can be made by bootin into recovery mode, ant then wiping data and cache.
It's a factory reset.

That won't down grade your os. It'll just delete all your data. What os are you on now? And why won't nfs run on it

it's possible,
if we can make froyo work on SGY we can also make CM7, 9 & 10 and ICS work,
we need software driver developers for this,

So was there a cm build for froyo like cm6 or something??

Shocked??? Yeah its possible just port froyo rom to galaxy y and you could do it..Now my question is Galaxy y has been optimized for Gingerbread.
And Gingerbread is better than Froyo in many aspects including the live wallpaper etc.
SO PLEASE STAY WITH GINGERBREAD ROM

Some help required

can anyone give me a link to a cyonogenmod rom port in which the network is working
i tried a rom but it always shows network as no service..........

all cm7 roms work fully with network
make sure you are using a cm kernel - ie percys or black reactor cm
make sure you have imei
dial *#06#
you may have to change your stock rom firmware baseband by flashing a different stock rom via odin or flash the ril fix from the hyperion thread if you have no imei

but the network was not working
my baseband was u think ddlk1 ao ddmd1

are you sure you are using cm7 roms and not cm9 rom which nothing work on it other then it boots
cm7 roms based on percys rc1 have full network working
you need to use percys kernel or black reactor cm kernel

It is a good kernel and supports ext4 and all varients of CM7 as said by its developer

all the roms are in the dev section - choose which one meets your needs - cm roms are marked cm in the thread title
percys rc1 which most other cm roms are based on can be found

dont use hells fusion kernel on cm - although it will boot it does not contain the moduals for wifi and bluetooth as its a stock rom kernel
