My phone received the ng2 update. I'm stock, not rooted. One thing I noticed is that when opening the messaging app, it is sluggish and has some noticeable lag when first opening the app. I've emptied out the messages and cleared cache to no avail. Anyone else experiencing this?

I fired up the phone in safe mode thinking I may have a rogue app. No luck, same results. Slow and sluggish only in the messaging app. I wiped cache, no luck. I rebooted the phone, and quickly while it was loading I went into the messaging app and it opened smoothly, however, after about 30 seconds it began to lag again. You can notice it when you hit the soft menu in the app. I'm beginning to think its an issue with the messaging app as it is the only app exhibiting this behavior. I'd really hate to to even try a factory reset as I am not rooted and can't make a backup. Anybody else on NG2 check their messaging app and hit the soft menu to see if it is laggy compared to all other apps? Thanks so much.
Did a clean wipe of the entire phone and still seeing the sluggishness. Either most of you haven't received the update yet or I can chalk it up to ng2 issue. Hopefully somebody on ng2 can chime in.

Thanks Troy. Driving me nuts. It's not tremendous lag bit you can notice it's slight sluggishness. I wonder if the ota download was bad. It says ng2 is installed.

The touch screen on my DX stops responding several times a day. It very random, it can be during a text, answering a call, etc. If I lock and unlock the screen, its back to normal. Its running the OTA 2.3.340 and is rooted, but this started prior to rooting. The "tech" at VZW said to do a factory reset but I'd rather not have to re-setup everything. Anyone else have this problem and have you found a fix? Any help appreciated. Thanks.
I have this exact same problem
Are you using a rom? It happens to me every once in a while, maybe every other day or so, sometimes twice in a day. I thought it might be the rom I'm using. I'm on liberty but everything else works fine for me so I was just waiting it out till they get version 1.5 released.
Beamed from my robot X using the XDA app
No other ROM, it is stock other than rooting and removing a few bloatware packages. It did this before removing any of that though.
My phone just started doing this recently as well. I think a program running in the background might be at fault. I'm still trying to find out which one

It happens to me while trying to use lock screen... I'm on apex and it always happened while using apex and on liberty until i switched to the rotary lock slide

Same issue here.I think this is a documented bug, and I haven't seen anyone post a fix for it anywhere
Has anyone else noticed the notification area seems sluggish after the 4.1.2 update? It sometimes now takes multiple touches before it will respond.
Seems to be back to normal after clearing the cache in Chrome. Go figure.

Last night my phone was working perfectly and i didnt install any new apps yesterday so i dont know what caused this to happen...
At about 6am today i turned on my phone. it was all fine until i unlocked it. When i put in my pattern it unlocked and it showed a few of my icons for about half a second and then it came up with an error message saying that the launcher had crashed so i pressed "ok" and it came up again so i pressed "report" and then it said "market feedback agent has stopped" and went back to the launcher and came up with the first error again.
i was just thinking about a way of getting around all the errors to install a new launcher so then i could use my phone. i plugged in my earphones and used the button to start playing my music, then i unlocked my phone and quickly opened skype before the error came up again and then i went in my notifications and i could open Play Music from the notification, i had a notification for an app update so i clicked it and it opened the play store so i installed "go launcher ex" i tried going into my recent apps to change my song but it said "system ui" had crashed, i tried to get into my settings but that crashed too, i worked out that it was most of the stock apps and a few others like bbm that werent working.
device specifications:
Nexus 4
Android 4.3
Rooted
Stock rom
Stock kernal
I dont know what to do without losing everything? thank you for any help
rebooted already? This usually fixes a lot of probs.
cheers
This is happening to me to. I fix it by clearing the ram or closing all open apps. But it happens like once daily now. Any long term solutions?

same issue as here...
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2513412
just different description... Just cleared google service framework data... will check back in on that thread after tomorrow morning and let you know if it works.
Same here. Bone stock and I don't even shut the phone off but overnight something happens to it and all apps crash. It sucks because it was my morning alarm but the clock app crashes without sounding the alarm.
If I reboot it will work perfect till the next morning, then all over again. Wiped and it still does it. Called it in and Google wasn't aware of anything so if you get this make sure and call Google so they know its widespread.
I cleared services framework and it solved it. So far, 2 days without infinite force closes

Same thing happened to me today. I rebooted into recovery, cleared cache, clear dalvik cache and reboot. Been fine since.

That did not fix it for me.
I got the infinite loop the next morning.
i tried re-booting but nothing happened, i had to go into recovery mode and reset my phone. now i wish i made a backup.
I haven't been getting those major crashes yet but after a while I can't open any apps or they "stop. " I think it has been happening ever since I returned to stock for the kit Kat update. Closing all the apps sometimes fixes it but that ruins my favorite part of the phone which is I can have all my stuff open all the time.

I'm still having this problem. Did everyone else fix it or did it just go away?

Just had my first crash and force restart since I've owned the phone. MJ7, not rooted, was just checking for new mail in Gmail. The bars stopped moving across the top, then black screen and restart. This never happened before the update. Anyone else had anything similar?

Every time I open up photos, it keeps force closing. Does anyone else get this and is this fixable?

Mine was doing this yesterday. I ended up factory resetting and that fixed it. But, I'm not sure what was causing it. I didn't have any 3d party apps, besides the junk that comes on it.
I am also having this issue. I'd rather not factory reset unless I absolutely have to because I don't want to set everything back up. Has anyone been able to fix this issue?

I tried this, complete factory reset, and still have the issue with the Photos app, but only after I update the app... If I don't update the app it works fine
No one has any updates to how they fixed this issue? I'm OCD about app updates and not being able to update Google Photos is killing me...
sorry. after i factory reset the phone, photos stopped force closing but i was having a lot of other weird issues. apps wouldn't update, just sitting in playstore trying to connect ( on wifi and 4g). wouldn't download from playstore, if they did it was painfully slow. so i downloaded the RUU of the newest software version and flashed that. All of my problems went away after that. But, i'm not sure what was causing them.
