Nook GlowLight (NGL) bypass Oobe - Nook Touch General

At the "Hi, welcome to your NOOK GlowLight™" screen, hold down the home button and swipe your finger along the top of the screen from left-to-right. A "Factory" box will appear in the upper-left. Press it.
At the factory screen, hold down the home button and tap the lower-right corner of the screen. A "Skip Oobe" box will appear. Press it.

Been using this on some NST's, would this be possible on the new White Glow Light ? please.
Or of course another way ?
Thanks, Mick

This guide is for the new white Nook GlowLight.
The procedure for the new NGL is the same as the NST except that, because the NGL has no side buttons, instead of pressing the top right side button, you press the home button.

Based on your location, might it have something to do with a firewall preventing you from hitting B&N's servers?

Not in Europe, as afar as i know. But i found the problem, and the solution!
It seems they sold me an outdated nook, and B&N have cut support ( ?!?!?!??!?!??!??! ), however, here
https://help.barnesandnoble.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/215/~/sideloading-software-update-to-your-nook I've downloaded and sideloaded at newer firmware which wroked and updated just fine.

Hello

[Q] Shop button does not respond.

I'm running nook touch 1.1 firmware.
I successfully rooted using SalsichaNooter 0.4 18/11.
When clicking shop in the andoird apps the nook flickered then i was given a credit card not found error. now when i click the physical nook button the menu pops up. i click the "Shop" button and the menu goes away but the screen goes no where. It works properly for the other selections int he nook menu.
So far i tried using the Erase & DeRegister Device option.
I tried the factory reset method by holding the bottom page turn buttons.
The shop selection stil will not respond.
I seemed to have fixed it with these instructions.
...I cant post links apparently, understandable.
It was on the ebook reader blog. google search: How to Unroot Nook Touch to Restore it to Original Firmware
It restored my nook to 1.0 firmware. Not sure what else this does.
My shop button also does not work from the little appdrawer thingy at the bottom of the screen. But I added a shortcut to the Shop app from my launcher to launch the app directly and that seems to work just fine. It's not much of an inconvenience to do the extra step or two...
Open NookTouchTools and tap B&N Buttons and change the Shop button from "B&N Default" to launch application and then scroll down to the "Shop" app (It should have the same icon as the shop) and select that. It should work great.

Button Saviour problems!

I registered on here for this specific question, and any help would be greatly appreciated.
I recently rooted my Nook Simple Touch (1.1) with TouchNooter 1.1. Everything was working perfectly, except the home button. Every time I would press it, it would ask to open with 'Home' (later I found out this is the standard Nook home screen) or something else I could not remember that would send me to the Android home screen.
So a few hours after I rooted I selected Always open with 'Home' (the Nook home, not the Android home). Attempting to reverse this I re-rooted my Nook with no luck. Then I tried restoring it, but Button Saviour is still on the side! How is that possible?
I remember it saying I could reverse the problem by going to the Android settings app. But I can't do this because I can't reach the Android home!
So my question is: how can I clear the setting? I'm using Mac OS X. Thanks in advance
I followed this guide to reset my Nook: [N2E] Recovery and Source for Nook Touch (see Kohr-Ah's post) and re-rooted and everything was back to the way it was
Thanks anyways XDA

If you come across this issue again, the simplest method is to put a second launcher in /data/app folder of TouchNooter, use the card again, this will force the choice to come up again.

Alright, thanks
I'm aware that this is slightly offtopic but found that Button Saviour is useless (for me) and only consumes precious CPU. Just map "n" button to "go to desktop" in AWD settings and the only thing You loose is the back arrow but that one can be accesed from the upper bar (that with clock and battery) so 99,9% of the time Button Saviour is useless.
I've notices a slight improvement of Nook overall speed by uninstaling it.
You can uninstall it by apps like "root uninstaller" along with others systems apps (like gmail, music) (this topic pops up in google cause it has ambigious title so Ive just added this for others)
After I rooted, I can't go to the android home. Always goes to nook home. When I click the button savior it just say "Button Savior has ben denied superuser permission". Tried to connect using adb to uninstall Button savior but it doesn't work. Tried to root again using touchnooter 2.1.31 but no luck. Please help.

it just hit me theres another way
1.open Nook Touch Tools
2.select "B&N buttons"
3.select "'n' button goes to home directly"
4. (optionally) select "'reading now' button action" and choose "orientation" (so You can change orientation with one click by clicking that book icon in upper left corner)
5.select "Long press 'n' button action, change it to "Open recent app dialog"
6.select "show extra action buttons in recent dialog"
7.now you can access "back arrow" by long pressing the "n" button (physical button), i know its not the best (cause you have to press it like 3 sec) but it works xD
that's also my setup but I stay with the button savior (as a backup option) because sometimes it is more comfortable than longpressing "n" button, which doesn't work 100% and takes time.
Was able to fixed the issue. I restored to original and re-root again.
Thanks
I didn't find much utility in Button Savior. Except for the home button it mostly said "This feature requires 2.2".
With the "n" button hacked, the lower left hardkey as back and the lower right hardkey as menu I don't need anything more.
I would miss the original functionality (previous and next page) on the right side. I have just lower left button remmaped to Back. It would be great if NookTouchTools (cant remember the exact name) could allow to define also long press actions for hardware buttons (I would use those for menu access).
Once I got to Android home screen, I re-mapped my buttons. I'm right handed, so I usually don't use the left buttons. The top left button is Menu, the bottom left button is back, and long press home button is Android home. After that I killed Button Savior
Exactly the same for me.

How to show soft-buttons after hiding in Game

I have phiremod and when I click the down arrow to hide it idk how to bring it back up and I need it to exit/save the game. Is it possible to bring it back up or am I basically stuck with always having it up and not able to have fullscreen?
This may be a stupid question, but I am new to android devices. I just got my nook recently and I did try googling before asking.

Go into Settings/CyanogenMod settings/Choose unhide button. You can set it to show the soft buttons.
When I press Home it comes back up, I'm wondering if it is possible to bring it back up while I'm in game

Try the Button Savior app.
Thanks, just what I needed. I still keep the status bar soft buttons, but I minimize it in game and use button savior to get my menus

Quick question: how to get back to the app launcher?

This seems like an easy question, but I've googled this and searched threads and found nothing.
When using Nook SImple Touch (with nooter) how do I get back to the app launcher, after I enter the B&N E-reader?
Look for an arrow on the right edge around the middle.
This is the Button Savior app. Tap the arrow and it opens up
a few more buttons. Tap on the button with the home icon
and you get back to the launcher. It is also possible to
setup the "n" button to bring up the launcher using
Nook touch tools.

Thank you so much for the help!
You can also use Nook Touch Tools to enable the same menu on the recent apps menu that shows if you long-press the 'n' key.

[Q] menu bar NST

Hello,
I have seen the nook simple touch with a meu bar of five icons in the middle of the screen, how can I get this bar?
This would be very helpful because the menu is always visible on the screen.
The video where appears this bar is on youtube and it's called:
Cool Reader и FBReader на NOOK (The Simple Touch Reader)
I am not allowed to post links because I am a newbie.
Thanks
As the comment on the YouTube video says, that is Button Savior.
I've never noticed that mode before, normally the five buttons are tiny and on the side.
I used to use that before I got my Nook all set up correctly.
With the "n" button correctly working as a home button, I don't need that.
I can certainly do without the screen disturbance.
Use Nook Mod Manager
Yeah, but you don't need those, you can use Nook Mod Manager to configure the buttons of you Nook. For example at my E-reader "n" button is for home, top left button is for menu, bottom left button for back and so on.But now I don't know how to get rid of the menu and back buttons from the top bar.
