Problem with my GPU - Galaxy Note 3 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey guys..... I've noticed that after rooting my SMN900 4.4.2, images take some time to get processed in the gallery. Also, my images dont seem much crisp either. The background wallpaper also seems to be of poor quality although it's a TRUE HD image. Guys, can any one help me???
I have Synapse (halaszk kernel). I can change the settings like voltages..... is there any fix using this synapse?
I've also noticed my FPS ON GAMES AND antutu benchmark to be down a lot.....
Sent from my amazing Exynos Note 3.

Any help would be appreciated
Sent from my amazing Exynos Note 3.

This is definitely not root related. You should do some reading in the rom and kernel thread you are using.
I think, looking at the kernel, there should be some screen related settings in synapse. But don't change them if you don't know what you are doing.
And it's forbidden to bump up your thread in less than 24 hours.

Samsung Galaxy s4 Overclock?

hello guys my question is ... im goign to get a S4 soon... but i want to know if the CPu can overclock? im goign to get the Quad-Core Version cuz the International Version is to expensive.. so i want to know if this NEW S600 CPU will be Overclockable? like the CPU of the Droid DNA?
Why would you want to do so? It's fast enough as it is. But to answer your question yes. When you can do it. No idea.

It will be for sure possible but remember that the device already throttles on stock speed.

Yes, you can Overclock it. 2.1 GHz should be great (and maybe 22 GHz)

Seriously guys. No matter how much we clock our s4's. We know that the real life result is actually what matters. I am not very happy to tell you guys that iphone5 with 2 cores runs smoother and opens apps faster than my s4. Specially the camera , dialer and gallery app. However when it comes to in app load times and raw processing, the s4 has the edge.
I am already having overheat issues on my i9500. Can't even think about over clocking it. Instead, I was think of some under clock.

If we talk about cpu temp then I can't tell you but even the battery temp reaches above 55 to 60 for some users. In real life usage. It gets too hot to place it against our ear for a call.

s4 lag issues

hi , i have a s4 and i feels its kind of laggy compared to my old s3 .just seems to stutter and lag when opening up certain apps like the camera etc . im on vodafone do you think if i were to flash a different stock rom to my phone would that maybe sort out the lag issues ?
build im on isJDQ39.i9505XXUAMDD
any help would be great ,oh i should say i have also disabled the svoice from starting up from a double tap of the home button
thanks
Hi mate, I had the same issues with mine with o2 on the same build. I have now flashed XXUAME2 stock and it appears to be much smoother.
I also disabled animations in the developer menu which helped a little.
Run quadrant benchmark and see what score you get, I'm getting around 12800 with this rom.
Hope this helps.

Move to ME2 and lagg disappear little.Try on Developer Option to decrease animation to 0 or 0.5 this also help :good: Good luck.

thanks , i will give that a try
well flashed the new rom to ME2 and on quadrant benchmark i get 1285 ,with antutu i get 24327
so im not sure if thats good or bad but the lag has got better ,still there but better than before
Good stuff, have you turned off s-voice for home button and animations?

Kernel Request

Hi there, I tested as many kernels as I can found but still I miss crucial things for me and haven't found yet something, btw all kernels seem same to me with little differences so has anyone saw a kernel that supports
1. Cifs
2. Openvpn
3. Uv ability to anything in the device? Like gpu?
4. Dual Rom (not crucial)
Damn I miss my s2/s3 days, maybe it's too early for N3 but all developers fell in the trap of benchmark and race to raise the mhz which is useless to most of people but banana appealing. If anyone spotted any kernel with extra features pls share it with me I can even beta test if needed.

[Q] Newly updated lollipop low benchmark result

Hello everyone, I just recently updated my note 4 N910C to lollipop, and I Tested it to see its benchmark score on Antitumor, but I'm really disappointed to see that it scored a total of 38738. Its even low than galaxy s5. Whats wrong?

Does your device perform slow? No?Why the **** do you care about useless benchmarks....your device got a lower score than the S5 so what?Numbers don't equal performance...try doing a ful wipe if you already didn't...
There are already threads about this and you don''t care to search the forum before posting the same thread?
Woah dude, chill , dont be so pissed if you got to see a same thread on the forum lol

Nah..I'm not pissed lol...sorry if I sounded like that it's just that those benchmarks are useless.Judge the device by the way you see how it performs in everyday use not by a number you got from a benchmark app...and also as I mentioned there are already threads about this so use the search function
Your note 4 shipped with 4.4. Its built for 4.4. Use 4.4
The rampant lust for updates, and the subsequent disappointment that follows is draining

I don't have any problem with the 5.0.1 in Note 4. I'm coming from Galaxy S5 and there is no way the Note 4 is performing worse than the S5. Its way faster.
I agree that benchmark points is useless and says little about the performance of the device.
Man i have the same problem here it seems that the phone is always in power saving mode and the gpu is limited to 350 mhz instead of 700 mhz. Also the cpu runs at 1.3 ghz instead of 1.9 for the big cores thats why it has low score in antutu hope somebody figures out a solution and also this is a bug in this update
Sent from my SM-N910H using XDA Free mobile app
meh
You guys are just being paranoid, I even noticed that it got faster after the lollipop update, I would never care for benchmark numbers as long as I am satisfied with the performance in real world, benchmarks can be influenced by many factors and I barely trust them (and ofc I am talking about Android benchmarks)
Edit: I just tried running a benchmark in Antutu and got 37940, ran it again and guess what? I got 44304, how can I trust this? LOL (I knew it would be way different from a benchmark to another, as it used to happen with me on my old HTC One X, since then I never trust these benchmarks). Just enjoy your phone and stop looking for non-existent problems.

Thanks
its a bug
enable power saving mode and turn off cpu limit then turn off power saving mode back
go to developer option and reduce the animation to .5 sec
redo your test

I tried all above, but still get 37K score. most degradation is in 3D graphics. Also in UX and single thread CPU.
Still can not understand why it happens.
I did the same thing nothing changed

Of course not, we expected the score to be at least the same !
Except the score you can notice that fps has dropped in games.
It also has some problems definitely, I have hangouts crashing several times a day.
UX runtime is much lower in my case also.
Benchmark scores are 100% useless.

no they are not useless and I can see that on practice, performance has slowed down just like benchmark scores got lower.
Benchmark can precisely tell and measure the performance, that's it's purpose. In my case I can feel the difference not only in benchmark scores bat in practice also.
Same for me. Tried fresh wipe, re-odin, etc
Benchmarks are 100% useful and in the fact the performance has gotten worse on the beastly note 4 it feels same as note 3 is that even called update anymore. The frames per second for big games is just arownd 20 fps its very disapointinf

Same here. Specially in Melbourne track. Only solution is use ael kernel. With ael kernel rc3 works super smooth, without any lag.

The Nexus 6 gives a similar result. Just because it's a Galaxy doesn't mean its perfect. The problem is not not with Samsung, rather the processor. The 805 was a quiet failure and not something that was noticed such as the 810. The 805 is a blazing beast, which results in a rather quick throttling. Not to mention, 2K resolutions weren't necessary thought through at the time, every manufacturer just wanted to catch up fast, I mean Oppo nailed it with their Oppo Find 7, and it performed well, but honestly even with the 801 2.5GHz I went for the Find 7A which had a 1080p display and the 2.3Ghz variant of the 801. Why? Gaming performance.
In short, if the Note 4 were a 1080p device, it would run a bit cooler and have less impact on the processor, allowing 3D performance to shine.
P.S. My Note 4 has always run around 70° C with simple tasks such as YouTube, and since it is now worth nothing to me thanks to my Mi Max, I did a bit of experimenting. The processor has thermal pads, which is nice, I mean it keeps the screen cool, and I tried to replace the pads with higher quality ones and that provided little difference, so I added a bit of thermal paste to help the heat dissipate towards the screen. While the screen can get annoyingly hot, the processor runs a bit cooler, and get less lag. WHILE I DO NOT RECOMMEND THESE "MODS", I wanted to mention this so you can see just how much of a terrible device it the Note 4 is in terms of temperatures.
