Is there any way to theme Google Hangouts and other chat apps, or use anything else for chat, with a transparent background?
The white out look doesn't really work for me.
Ignore, wrong thread.

Yes, there is an app called Android Apps theme engine- Xposed modules which can be used to theme hangout and other apps like whatsapp.
And this can work alongside CyanogenMod theme engine?

Google Ears is supposed to be a jelly bean feature, yet i dont see the widget available on my nexus 10? Anyone else have the same problem? or am i missing something here?
The widget is not called Google Ears, it's called Sound Search.
I am aware of that but still don't have it

You can add it as a widget on the lock screen.

Do you have Google music installed? I think you need that to get Sound Search.

Yes i have it installed
What's your region, and are you on stock ROM?
I'm in the US, and I have the Sound Search widget on both Stock and a custom AOSP ROM, and can add it to either lockscreen or homescreen.
If you're rooted install titanium backup. If you go into apps, you need to unfreeze it.
I am from the UK and i havent got a custom rom yet. havent got round to rooting.
I have modified Google Ears for unsupported countries..
thread of it is in Galaxy Nexus themes and apps section!
Any body know or have a link to blacked out contacts and dialer for google edition roms? Or atleast blackedout backgrounds and pop ups?

Are you Rooted? If yes, then your best choice is to flash a Custom ROM. You could try a few launcher's and see if any of the themes replace the dialer and contacts, but launcher's usually make the phone slow. Try Nova Launcher or Action Launcher and install a few themes.

I dont think launchers with themes replace the dialer and contacts.

That's what I thought. I wasn't a 100% sure though.
So I guess the only way you can get a blacked out Dialer/Contacts app is to flash a ROM that has an AOSP theme?
For 4.3?

I'm really liking the stock messaging app; but I hate the White. Has anyone found an inverted one? I want it too be fully functional so I can use it with my Galaxy gear.

in settings you can make the background for conversations any image you want and i use solid black. you can not change the conversation view though and i really wish you could.

Yeah I'm looking for the conversation view. I don't know why they would allow you to do one and not the other.

+1 for this feature. Or if anyone knows a AOSP inverted apk that is compatible with note 3.
I just want to get rid of the creepy default face for contacts that don't have a picture!

I went to best buy yesterday and noticed the s5 on display had the messaging app with a dark theme! Is there any way to get this on our phones?
If you go to settings and display you can change background for when your in a conversation. But in the overview you can't. You sure it wasn't the Verizon sms app?

if you dont want my rom you can install 8sms from play store.. its better than stock imo

Does 8sms have a quick reply popup? I really like that with chomp sms. And you can customize the look of everything. Mine is totally dark right now.

Unfortunately coming from a galaxy nexus i would like to avoid the stock kit kat messaging app. I've used it for a while an i don't really like it lol. I like the way the stock s5 messaging app looks.

Old launcher on lollipop image?? This launcher isn't from lollipop
(Oficial lollipop image).
I installed apex.
Nav bar, status bar and app drawer are transparent
I had the same thing. Install the Google Now Launcher from the play store.

So what? Google already published the Lollipop launcher on the Play Store.
It's Google Now Launcher.
Yeah, but it doesn't make any sense, why the 2012 version is the one with the jb launcher? It's stupid...

For me it does. Im running Google Now.
Try to reboot och re-flash the image.
Also, where is the gallery ?
Gallery is replaced by Photos.
Last night I wanted to watch something on my N7 and it asked me which Player I prefer.
ES Media Player, VLC or Photos (?!).
Well, opening with Photos, played also the movie
Cheers

Did you try to launch the Photos app?
google now launcher makes my n7 very laggy. that's probably why it's not included in the factory image.

Now launcher is smooth on my nexus 7.
After installing it delete launcher and other apps in system folder. Solves a lot of issues freeing up 160mb of system space compared to 11mb free.

have you guys noticed that with the new google now launcher, if you try to change wallpaper long-pressing on the screen it shows the old kitkat wallpaper list instead of the new material light ones?
and if you go to setting - display - background there's a "doubled" wallpaper list?
