Google Ears is supposed to be a jelly bean feature, yet i dont see the widget available on my nexus 10? Anyone else have the same problem? or am i missing something here?
The widget is not called Google Ears, it's called Sound Search.
I am aware of that but still don't have it

You can add it as a widget on the lock screen.

Yeah I don't have it either. I was a bit confused as to why....had it on my 8.9 with JB.

Do you have Google music installed? I think you need that to get Sound Search.

Yes i have it installed
What's your region, and are you on stock ROM?
I'm in the US, and I have the Sound Search widget on both Stock and a custom AOSP ROM, and can add it to either lockscreen or homescreen.
If you're rooted install titanium backup. If you go into apps, you need to unfreeze it.
I am from the UK and i havent got a custom rom yet. havent got round to rooting.
I have modified Google Ears for unsupported countries..
thread of it is in Galaxy Nexus themes and apps section!

Does the nexus 7 not have the news and weather app installed? I thought jelly bean was supposed to have an updated version. Or is that just for phones?
Sent from my Nexus 7 using xda app-developers app
You're right, it doesn't come with that app installed. I prefer that weather widget, although it has not been functioning correctly on my phone lately. I'm sure you could find an apk and throw it on if you wanted it, though.
Good news is, the ICS version of "geniewidget"/News and Weather works just fine on the N7. Do a search on the forum for a link to the apk and sideload it.

ok. thanks for the info guys. will be one of the first things i do when i root.
Is there other apps like it? Widgetlocker is so old and outdated that the stock lockscreen works better then it. I just mainly want something I can customize and use as a lock screen.
MagicLocker.
How about MagicLocker? It's pretty easy to use and works well. I tried Go Locker, Stock, even Widgetlocker, but I always come back to ML. I use it on my S3 & Nexus 7. Very happy
Play store pulls a not compatible with this version, I'll search for the apk.
The version i got is rather laggy..

Have you changed your DPI? All of the apps mentioned in this thread show as compatible when I check the Play Store.

Actually, widgetlocker gave me a very nice, jelly bean lock screen back when I was on stock. It has been updated. You just need to remove those gross froyo sliders

It doesn't rotate nicely like the stock launcher is another thing that always bugs me..
I'm trying to make my S4 as close as possible to stock without rooting.
What I've Done:
I installed Nova Launcher and told it to use Jelly Bean Stock Icons.
I replaced the lock screen with holo locker.
Finally, I installed the Google Keyboard.
What Needs To Be Addressed (in order of importance):
Notification Panel
Phone App
Contacts
Settings Screen
Camera App
Gallery App
Out of the list that needs to be addressed, do any of them have a "Close To Stock" option out there?
There are some apps on the playstore if you search for ex. "camera jb", but most of them are not free .

I've been trying to find them, but haven't been too successful...especially when it comes to trying to find something that looks like Stock. I can't find any notification apps for example. Is the notification window not something an app can replace? I don't mind paying, but I just can't find them.
The only way to get is as close to stock as possible is to install vanilla.

I'm wondering how that's going to work out. So many unanswered questions. Will Google release the image right away or wait months? Will it just work for all S4's and be stable and fully functional? Or will it require devs to tinker with it to make it work for a Non-Google-Edition-S4's, and in the mean time users have smalls bugs to deal with as the devs make it more stable...like AOSP?
Time will tell. But...again, that will require rooting and this is a work phone.

Then I should rephrase: "Closer" to Stock than how I've got it
Ex dialer, with holo jb theme will get you the dialer and contacts app

Let's see what we're dealing with here.
Notification Panel - Maybe something here?
Phone App - Swipe dialer (free) Swipe dialer (paid)
Contacts - See the dialer
Settings Screen - Not possible. Themed maybe, but that's all you're gonna get.
Camera App - JB Camera+
Gallery App - Quickpic

Install the stock camera and gallery app from the Google Edition SGS4 (it's just a single apk that needs to be installed and you get both apps).

Hi guys
changed the dpi on my n5100 to 160 by accident and got a whole new version of interface.
Is it remnants from another device?
I like it a lot but worried about compatibility with apps. Anyone tried it?
You've got Nova launcher or Apex on there haven't you?

yeah but look at the bottom bar. Very similar to stock android but Samsung modded. Also notifications screen has changed to the same as my Note2. most thingswork apart from the dialer.
Touchwiz will not load at 160dpi is the reasn i 'pushed' Apex from the Play store.
Nah, that's what's supposed to happen, it's gone "Full Tablet mode" lol.
If you clear the data on the launcher, it should sort itself out and display in a tablet form.

You only need to do it on the app itself, if clearing doesn't work, install another launcher then, remove and install the one you originally installed. But make sure you have at least one other Launcher than the default TouchWiz one or you could find yourself in a whole world of headache.
And no, the file that gets edited to change the dpi can only be done once rooted.
Which android version you use? 4.1.2 or 4.2.2?

Has anyone managed to get okay google working with nova launcher?
What do you mean? If you're asking about the search bar on the home screen and saying "okay Google" then probably not. That's only on the Google Experience launcher. Unless maybe there is an always listening widget avaliable. Nova launcher does not have this built in.

So, just to be clear. You're asking if someone has modded the Nova launcher apk and built in the always listening Google search toolbar?
Here is a thread about that here - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2523251
Here is another interesting page and some good links about this subject -
http://android.stackexchange.com/qu...launcher-that-supports-google-now-integration
Anyway, hope that helps. I didn't realize that it was that integrated. Looks like it would be more likely that Google would enable gestures and all the Nova stuff before they would free up the Google experience stuff.
