Is there anyway to get rid of the "System Update Downloaded" message. I'm currently running MF9 Rooted/Deodexed Rom and do not plan to update until everything is all worked out here on XDA. Not sure if there is a way to delete the downloaded update file then turn off the update check.
Try to stop it by holding on the notification and prompting App Info unselecting show notifications.. or you can freeze it with titanium back up

I would like to know too! Running SACS V8. Have no desire to update. Would like to know how / where to remove the update from the phone.
freeze SprintID
Well, as far as I know, if you are running a custom recovery (twrp, cwm, etc.) you can click to update. However it will fail because of the custom recovery and should stop bugging you about the update.
I also believe there is a way using root explorer you can delete a certain file, then when you click to update nothing runs. That though you'd have to search for more details.

First I froze fwupdate.apk using Titanium Backup like most threads say to. I think that only prevents it from downloading, but if the update file has already been downloaded, then you'll continue to get notifications.
I then deleted the actual update file from the \cache folder. Still shows under Notification.
So then I removed Notifications from the actual app that displays it - called Google Services (or something like that - don't have phone with me so can't look right now - but you can long-press on the notification to get App Info, then go in and remove Notifications).
Edit: Apparently you don't have to remove all notifications from Google Services, just clear the cache. Btw, my phone is rooted and I had already removed SprintDM.apk and ALL other Sprint related stuff (SprintID, etc) and it still downloaded the update and prompted me.
I woke up on Fri with the update icon on my phone . I'm on mf9 and not ready to update just yet.
This is what I did to get rid of the update notification.
Using root exp go into etc/security/and change otacerts.zip to otacerts.zip.bat
Then go to system/app/and change SprintDM.apk to SprintDM.apk.bak
I then went into recovery and wiped delvik and cache then rebooted
When it rebooted the icon was still there so I restarted the phone and after it rebooted the icon was gone.

Long press it in the notification tray and then tap "app info" after that uncheck show in notifications.

So I got the update notification again! I had already removed SprintID long ago (and all other Sprint apps) and frozen fwupdate.apk.
Somehow my phone still downloaded the update zip again. I can only think it has to do with one of the Samsung apps which I kept.
Anyways, decided to go into system/build.props and change all the MF9 to MFA. Let's see what happens now. Going to keep Google Services Framework notification on to test.
Well, I changed the build.props file and it cold rebooted fine to the lockscreen but once I enter my pattern code, the screen seems to go completely blank. I have to press the power button twice to go back to the lock screen again. Seems it doesn't like you changing MF9 to MFA in the build.props file!!!!!
Now how to change it back without having to do a restore.....can't see anything or do anything within the phone app itself since screen is blanked out. Any ideas anyone?
Edit: Nevermind, a hard shut down and reboot seems to have fixed whatever glitch that was. Odd....
Fotakill.apk, that worked for me when I was on MDL
Don't know if it works on MF9.
Any ideas to make Wanam work again?

Are you running Wanam to dissable staus on "stock" rom? (Not on the rom within the ss rom slot)

Yes I am running Wanam to disable the status on a stock rom.

There was a few of us in the main update thread this happened to.. wasn't because of safestrap for me but it seemed after reinstalling Adaway and doing some other /system stuff the icon and custom status came back and would not go away.. only thing I can suggest after uninstalling framework/wanam, reboot, reinstalling the framework, reboot, reinstall/toggle wanam, reboot, multiple times toggling the options in the app and rebooting (regular/ and soft reboot) it finally stuck for me dont know what it was that finally got it, but I feel your pain cause it pissed me off the past two days

Did everything you said must have rebooted my phone 20 times and I still have the custom icon driving me crazy.

What sucks is you know wanam is working because at least for me the notification mods were working like NFC icon removed and clock and stuff.. just the status wasnt sticking... took me forever but it did take eventually
I've done it like 30 times no luck. I think I'm just going to let it be.

This is not a troll question...
I've seen lots of folks worried about the "open lock" icon on boot. Why does this matter, unless you are requesting service/replacement of your device?
Is this a separate indicator from the Knox "0x0" that shows in download mode?

Exactly what you said, for warranty and also just OCD for some of us yes its seperate it shows in the Settings>Status screen as well as the boot screen instead of Official it will say "Custom" (Wanam removes the icon and sets the status to Official)
You don't have to uninstall.... just re-install the framework and it should be back up.

Hi all,
My sprint G2 is currently on the zv8 software version with root and twrp recovery and permanent sim unlock done, today I got a notification for "system update from zv8_13 to zva" but I guess I can't take it, so how to remove it ?, it is showing that it is already downloaded and to reboot to install.
I don't want it to download the update automatically again as am on a limited bandwidth internet plan
Thanks

If you're rooted then either just freeze software update in TB or download fotakill.apk and install that. I'm not rooted and I have the notification In my status bar but I don't want the upgrade. Kitkat makes my battery life suck.

You can easily stop the notification by holding down on it , pressing "app info" and disabling it, if that doesn't work, clear data, force stop.
You can also press the button "stop notifications".

Actually I thought that restarting the phone will install the update automatically which may result in a soft brick but it didn't happen ,and after clearing data it may download the update again, so I have just stopped the notification for now
Okay weird... I updated to kitkat (on accident. Meant to press postpone lol) and... Bluetooth isn't in the list of battery shenanigans. What the what?

After flashing kitkat via flash tool, immediately reflashing kitkat and then setting up my device my battery life has been amazing. I still have that Bluetooth reporting thing but it's not effecting my battery. Yaaaaay!

Sorry for thread Necromancy, but this worked for me on ZVA d3rp-g2 bareback for ignoring the ZVC update. (long pressing notification, selecting app info, and disable notification)

Dude! You 'da man!
FOTAKill was not working on my friend's Sprint (SPH-L900) Note 2 (I have used it b4 with no probs).
But I just did what you described and it worked perfectly!
THANK YOU!!!
Btw, on her phone, it was the "Sprint DM Service" that was doing it.
Hey guys....brief background. ...I've had Beans B6 for a while. I've updated SU and the PIE controls have stopped working. When I turn it on it does nothing. When I go back into the custom settings after enabling it's off.....Every time. Even after enabling. I wiped and reinstalled Beans but same results. Any suggestions?

Update: still have same issue. Since posting I've actually flashed stock MJE tar, re-rooted, flashed BeansB6 and still have same issue where LMT Pie Control either force closes or just doesn't work. I'll enable it in custom settings, back out and when I go back into the settings it's set itself back to off. Even after enabling before backing out of settings it won't work either. Suggestions?
