I know and I'm already using it.
I've asked it because that guy wrote that is supported by the stock 4.4.3 Rom. Something that will never happen even on Android L.

1.6 vs 2.0

I'm currently running Dwang 1.12 its a Donut rom and it's the fastest i've run so far, i've tried many others and its really just a great rom.
Now that 2.0 and 2.1 is out and about, just wondering what the major difference would be between 1.6 and 2.0..
Is there an improvement on speed and smoothness of scrolling?
Apart from navi, any new features that make it worth jumping up to 2.0?
Lots of cosmetic improvements, the dialler/contacts app has been redesigned and so has messaging and the settings screen, mostly this is just for usability I think. The other big features are built in integration for facebook (for syncing photos to your contacts) and native exchange support, I am sure there is a load of other stuff I haven't mentioned besides updates to google apps.
I've tried the AOSP 2.0 roms going around and scrolling between home screens is jerky at the moment, so it seems there is some work to do to optimise for HTC Magic, also the Camera does not work as there is no driver from HTC that works with Android 2.0.
I'm sticking with Dwang 1.12 until we have an official Android 2.0 release for the Magic/MT3G (which hopefully Dwang will work his magic on), for me there is no reason to jump as I am happy where I am, I guess it depends how much you like to tinker with your phone!
I've tried a lot of different roms, and the only reason i kept trying out and playing with differnet rom is just because the usability and stability of most roms was no where near adequate, but the dwang has really hit it on the head and is a great look into what the future roms should be and hopefully will be like.

i'm under the impression that 2.0 does not support full exchange sync. ie. mail, contact and calendar. it does mail only. is that correct?

That is my impression too: thread
sorry to butt in... i have a Rogers Magic 1.5 with SenseUI, direct from the HTC RUU, and ive been thinking about 2.0/1 lately.
1) what are the differences between SenseUI 1.5and 2.0/1?
2) should i wait for HTC to release a 2.0 update for the magic?
3) should i just root and flash a new rom that has what i want?
thank you guys

Knowing HTC you could be waiting a while! I would give it a go if you don't mind a few things being broken (camera, possibly bluetooth depending on which rom you choose). Provided you do a nandroid first you can always go back to a backup if you don't like it.

Can anyone clarify me what different versions of Android exists? (+ more questions)

Hi! I have got an HTC Touch HD and since i saw a video of Nexus One I'm interested in trying Android on my device, but I can't understand the differences between the different versions.
First of all: the Android 2.0.1 and the 2.1 are different? Because on the Nexus One web site the 2.1 is called Eclair, but on this forum I found this name associated to the 2.0.1
Second one: what is the version of ported Android most similar to the Nexus One's?

2.0.1 and 2.1 are both Eclair, the Droid has 2.0.1 and it's what PHH and the others are using as a main build, there are 2.1 builds around, though, but are still sometimes unstable or laggy (being worked on).
2.1 brings live wallpapers, voice input and some other stuff, this is what the Nexus One has, there's also the new app drawer, but i think that's exclusive to the Nexus One (3D effect). Live wallpapers were made to work on 2.0.1, though.
Next version will be called Froyo (FROzen YOghurt).
Ok thanks...Another question..
I didn't understand how Android is installed... Do I loose WM? Or is it installed in dual boot?

No you dont lose WinMo, this installs on your SD card is 'sort of' Dual boot...
You just run a little launcher in WinMo and Android will terminate WinMo and run.... next time you restart your phone, you're back to WinMo as always.
There is a 'dual boot' program that someone developed, but essentially this is just a fancy app to auto-start the launcher from WinMo as soon as WinMo boots.
You should try reading a few of the opening posts though, and place your questions in the 'Ask questions here' sticky at the top of this android forum.
ook! thank you very much!

HTC is going to improve Sense lockscreen & camera

Hi there,
I've read this Dutch article about HTC is going to improve their Lockscreen and Camera software.
This article says they're gonna allow the users to add widgets on the Sense Lockscreen with widgets and that HTC is going to improve the camera app so you can easily take great pictures (without blur) of moving objects or people.
This is quite great news, imo!
So what do you guys think?

the screenshot is from windows mobile.. so are you sure its about android?^^
Haha correct. It is from Windows Mobile
But I think they're talking about Android version
Because it's the only platform that allows customization.
Let's hope the update will come asap
Hopefully we get those camera improvements in the Gingerbread update.

From the sounds of it, even thought the screenshot is from WM, it sounds like Android.
Those improvements mentioned in that article apply for the HTC Sensation. HTC are talking about instant picture snapping and the new lockscreen. So maybe this article is mixing the phones?
Maybe the person that put this together was in a rush..... :L
So, will we be seeing these new sense implements that is the question... but in saying that it does say that existing phones will get it, and ours being one of the high end phones at the moment... that means us... right?
Sense 3 Perhaps
These features sound like they may be coming in the new Sense 3 which the Sensation and others will launch with.
Hopefully sense 3 will be released in future roms for our DHDs. If not I'm sure some devs will cook them into roms for us.

Ok, this is aimed at anyone. KitKat source code has been released. I've got an Atrix 4G and the Droid X. Word over on A4G from an article online says that this will help with updates, low mem devices and stuff of that nature. Will the release of KK source code help with advancing DX development? I'll post what I read over here in a sec.
Edit. Post from A4G
Many people are excited about the upcoming Android Kit Kat update, but according to a recent leak, this new version may actually be a major step forward both in terms of usability and capabilities for Google’s OS.
Amir Efrati, who has broken Google and Android news before, has apparently taken a look at some official inside documents concerning Android 4.4 KitKat. According to him this might be a radical update to Google’s platform not just an iterative one.
Among the many new features and improvements that it’s supposed to bring, KitKat will supposedly finally deal with the fragmentation issue that has plagued the Android ecosystem ever since the OS first launched. This will come both in terms of support for the update and in integrated solutions that unify separate approaches from different OEMs. For example instead of Samsung, HTC, Moto and Sony each offering their own way to interact with an IR blaster, KitKat now brings an integrated solution that works on all handsets.
According to Efrati, KitKat has also been engineered to work on older and lower-end devices in a bid to bring them up to speed with newer and more powerful handsets. Memory management has also been improved, now allowing much more fluidity and responsiveness even in devices with only 512 MB RAM.
Speaking of those, KitKat also seems to be focused around new lower-end devices with many improvements designed to make Google and its OEMs more competitive in this field. After all, while the high-end markets seem saturated, developing markets are a huge and valuable battlefield for OEMs looking to sell more devices.
Other improvements are focused around Bluetooth and the addition of new sensors: geomagnetic rotation vector, step detection and step counters. These are definitely geared towards wearables, whether they’re Google Glass or upcoming smartwatches from OEMs or even completely new products that haven’t been announced yet. Whatever the case, Android is definitely gearing towards a wearable computing future.
Finally developers will supposedly be able to create applications that use “full-screen mode” which completely hides the navigation bar and lets the app shine from edge to edge. And alongside all these changes there may be some significant battery gains thanks to improvements in the KitKat update which should make many users quite happy.
Hopefully we won’t have to wait too long until Google decides to unveil KitKat to the world, and here’s hoping this info is accurate and the update does end up being a major one.

I love liquid ics, but there's just one problem, the notifications bar. When I first installed it, it was fine. But when I started messing around with some of the settings, it's became so that it's just black, I'll add pictures, but can anyone tell me what settings to get back the icons in the notifications bar. Any help would be much appreciated.

I've run into that as well. I had to clear data to get it back. You might try clearing SystemUI data first and then rebooting. Just know that all your system settings will be wiped.
Notifications turning invisible happened to me as well in LiquidICS 2.0. It can be fixed as follows:
Go to Settings+Interface+Status bar+General. Scroll to Notification Color at the bottom. Change the color to something close to white. Your notifications should come back.

[News] Paranoid Android is back.

Paranoid Android 2016 Launch
We are launching brand spanking fresh. All new features. New team members. New everything and we have made sure that everything that we are releasing has been polished to our best.
The main features and enhancements that you will probably end up noticing are our custom Quick Settings tile reordering functionality, floating window support, immersive mode, the new on-the-spot interface and CM Theme Engine.
Quick Settings tiles can be managed with ease - you can reorder the tiles by simply long pressing them, remove them by dropping them in the trash bin and add them back in from the add panel. The hidden tiles will be out of your way when checking the notifications but will still be usable from the add panel without any hassles if you want to do that all of a sudden.
You can make an application float either by long pressing a notification and tapping the floating button or by tapping the floating button for the application in the recents list. Additionally, you can make peeking (heads-up) notifications open floating windows by enabling that behavior in the "Floating peek" tile.
Those are not the only changes and features we have added. There are a variety of improvements to CAF devices (OnePlus, OPPO and others) which add custom kernels, advanced gesture and buttons control and more to provide a great experience on those devices. Of course we have spent a lot of attention on making all the visual details look right and on making all the functionality work right.
Over the months we have gained a bunch of new team members. We are now ready for all varieties of work - be it low level, aesthetics, user experience, motion design, testing or anything in-between. What we strive for is the best and we are stronger than ever to reach that.
On Paranoid Android 2016 launch we are supporting popular Nexus devices (6P, 5X, 6, 5, 4, 7 2013, 9) and the OnePlus family (One, 2, X) along with some Sony devices. The lineup is this way to make sure we release the best possible experience on all the devices we release for. No compromises, pure greatness.
We highly recommend everyone to use OpenGapps full version (do not use stock). Nexus 6P users need to make sure their vendor partitions are up-to-date (6.0.1). Our Nexus 5X builds come with a prebuilt vendor image so no worries for you folks!
There is more to come in #aospa2016 but for now, grab your builds at http://get.aospa.co/ and #stayparanoid!

Or use this... [MOD][GUIDE] Unencrypt/Flashable - Disable Force Encryption - Any Rom/Kernel and you can use the stock kernel and remain unencrypted.
I've been running this since the announcement yesterday and everything is going smoothly so far. Very stable so far with no reboots or app crashes. Not a ton of features in the rom yet but I'm sure with some time this will be an amazing Rom. It pretty much already is.

I messed up and allowed the ROM to boot before I could install a custom kernel or use that guide. TWRP is asking me for an encryption password now. Is there some kind of default password that got set or am I screwed?

I tried their new build.
Wasn't too impressed. Charging is painfully slow, camera is horrible, flashing a custom kernel breaks the camera and it was a real challenge to actually get the ROM to boot.
Hope they fix it in their newer builds.
P.S: I'm talking about the 1+1 here, not the N6 in case anyone was wondering.
