Hello
The proximity sensor in my s5360 seems to require re-calibration.
I'm currently on stock kernel and stock rom version 2.3.6 with root. I've tried dialing *#7353# and in the 'Proximity Sensor' menu, the phone continuously vibrates and displays "Working", whether i put my finger near the sensor or not. I've also tried the Android Sensor Box app and in the 'Proximity Sensor' menu, it displays 0.0(cm) with no change in state upon obstructing the sensor.
Is there a way to adapt the method described in the following thread, or any other method for that matter, to calibrate my s5360's proxi sensor?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2353972
Well if the above method doesn't work,it might be a hardware issue.Or else you can try flashing stock ROM of your region again.

Hi aniket.lamba
Thank you for your prompt response.
I cannot use the method described in the above-mentioned link because the path "/sys/class/sensors/proximity_sensor/prox_cal" isn't available in my phone.
Is there an alternate path I can use to perform the re-calibration?

So you need to add that file to your ROM.Grab it from any other stock ROM and push it via the desired path.

Ok, I have limited knowledge in working with ROMs and I don't know how to go about and get the said file from a ROM. I tried downloading stock ROM for my region and there are 3 files in it, namely csc...md5, modem...md5 and pda....md5. Will I find the file among these? With what program do I open these stock ROM files?
Please advise
P.S: I did manage to flash, following the instructions from marcussmith2626's thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2568853 but the proximity sensor problem persists. Without resolving this, I cannot make regular calls properly (phone screen blacks out during calls and stays as such until i remove the battery), nor can I call using Viber or Skype

1.Download any flashable zip of any custom ROM (say,Hyperion 9)
2.Locate that file with the given path in Hyperion 9's zip
3.Copy that file to the root of your sd card and navigate that file with a root browser on your phone and again copy that file and paste in the ROM you are using currently (via the actual path, ofcourse).

Dear developers,
I have deleted (by mistake) program Launcer from my Smartphone and now it is not going to load. When I turn on it, there is only symbol of IDEOS. After a minute symbol starting to twinkle, but system not loading.
Could you please tell me how can I return to original firmware?
I hope someone will be able to support me.
If the launcher is the problem, you can just install another, or push again the original from a rom via adb. I assume that the device is rooted(I think you cannot delete a system app if isn´t). If you can connect to pc, then possibly you can install a launcher from huawei' s suite(I´m not sure because I don' t use windows and I haven't try this app) or from a android file manager like QtADB, Android commander or Droid Explorer. You can also install it only with adb via windows command prompt:
http://www.brighthub.com/mobile/google-android/articles/37151.aspx
And maybe, if wifi is enabled and connected, you can just install a launcher from market via pc' s web browser:
https://market.android.com/
The Modaco wiki has a list of original firmwares, but no link to Huawei works anymore. However, it is possible to download the latest China Unicom firmware - which does contain english language support. That should at least get you started.
As a new user I can't post links yet, but it is easy to find if you look for u8800 software, and then switch to Chinese.
Put the extracted directory (dload) on an sd card, in the top/root, put it in the phone and then hold volume down and power on.
Note, this will blow everything away to start from scratch so make sure it is what you want. In addition everything will be in Chinese so you need to be able to navigate to the settings to set it to English.
Better ideas? I am a noob myself so no guarantees...
I have unrooted it before to delete some trial games. And deleted Launcher by mistake.
I can't connect via usb now.
I'm afraid if I upgrade firmware, I have less memory because old one will not be deleted. Or maybe I'm wrong?
No, you're not gonna have less memory.
Did you tried to wipe to factory defaults from recovery mode(power button and vol+)?
You will not have less space because an original firware will format everything from boot partition, system and data... Basically , it will give you original software and status like it came from factory ... Like the other user said, jut find it, extract it , put the dload directory to the root of you sd card and hold volume down and start up the phone ... You will see a progress bar and when it is finished , the phone will restart itself, you will have to wait longer due to the creation of new files and there you go

Install recovery first, then you can connect your device to PC using recovery. If you have friend that have X5, copy the launcher. Else, just install Custom ROM.
The old one will be removed if you install custom ROM. If I'm not wrong.
Recovery.
Unplug USB, turn off your phone, press and hold vol + and -, then press power. Hold those three buttons until it turned on and the screen is purple-pink.
Backup all image data(copy). The rest is in the link.
Sorry for my English. Hope you understand what I write..

You are magician. it works now.
hmmm... but there is no launcher application - no workspace available. it doesn't want to load as before. strange.
upgrade don't work too. It is cycle repeating of step1/2.
I just tested and found that you can copy the missing apk from bootloader mode. In this mode(power + vol- + vol+ buttons), when connected to pc via usb cable all partitions of device mounted(at least this happens on linux). So, you can navigate to system partition on /system/app folder and copy there the missing launcher' s apk file. You can find this file on a custom' s rom(or on an official' s rooted rom like modaco's roms) update.zip file. It's on system/app folder. I tested this on linux and I could(not as normal but as root user though) copy or delete files from there.
dancer_69, thank you for your support. At my side when I connect via bootmode, there is only flashdrive is visible.
It's really strange that it is not going to upgrade.
I'm able to apply sdcard:update.zip. So maybe if to put this application inside of the card, it could install. but I don't know how to do it.
I finded apk file and tried to install it but it don't receive file because it hasn't some certificate. ???
I think you have 3 options here.
1. flash an official rom(you put the dload folder of rom's zip file on root of sdcard and boot to bootloader mode. The update starts automatic)
2. Use a linux system(maybe a livecd) to access the other partitions.
3. Try to reroot the device from pc, via superoneclick app(you can find it here), so to have access to system again.
but I haven't access to installation program area. nothing!
I have only ability by pressing (vol + and on) to choose install update.zip from flash card.
so.
1. when I runned new firmware from dload it didn't install. it was cycling at first level (1/2)
2. linux is good idea. but I'm not sure that it's will be profitable. maybe I have turned off access to partitions inside of phone
3. I can't install superoneclick as I'm not able to install any application.
I hope we are closer to some geniously idea. I have bought phone yesterday and we haven't service center in our city. So, I need to buy the other one.
This is not so serious problem, it' s not hardware, it´ software related. And I think you cannot turn off access so easy.
The superoneclick is a pc application. You don't need to install something on device(if I remember well, because I use it once before a long time). You can try it.
And you can try linux too.
I don't think that this is a problem that only service can solve it.
What firmware you tried? Try another one. And better try to find the one that you device has(if you know it)
Thank you for positive opinion.
1. Will try to change firmware as you said. Try 2 more firmware from Huawei.
2. Superoneclick needs approval from phone, today night I wasn't able to run it.
3. I'll try Linux too.

Thank you very much for your excellent support. It's work now after trying of other firmware. Everything is excellent now.
I only noticed that battery is no very capacitive.
Please, send me your paypal account, I want to donate you a little.
Hello,
I just bought a Red Lens (Tested with Catlog method suggested in the Beginner Guide) Defy while i was at China.
I find there are a lot of Stuff ( Application & icons named in Chinese characters) on my phone that I do not want/can't use. (and can't uninstall)
So i would like some instructions or a link to, that would help me 'format' my phone to:
1.not only upgrade it from it's existing 2.2.1 version to a potentially less power consuming & better performing OS version
2. And also clearing out and keeping only the necessary applications of the phone.
I hope i kept the question easy to understand my situation.
Thanks.
after you root the phone you should be able to uninstall some aps you can't uninstall otherwise.
but if you go to the trouble of rooting your phone than you should try CM7 (with go launcher ex):
I didn't quite understand what you meant by '(with go launcher ex)'.
No.3 on the Instructions in 'Connect your phone to PC'. Do we disconnect it at any stage within the process?
No. 8 of the Instructions, asks to 'copy the Gapps zip and cm7 stable or nightly zip file to root of your SD card'. Does this mean copy these files to just inside my Micro-SD card and not into any other folder.?
The Gapps zip file is from the //goo-inside me/ gapps/ site? I found many files there, which one do i need?
No. 12. 'select the appropriate baseband to achieve optimal reception'. I assume the appropriate baseband should be my current base band. How do i find out which it is?
The backup mentioned after the instructions is a backup of the newly installed OS? Is it necessary/Advisable to backup my current OS and at which stage is it necessary?
Thanks
with go launcher ex i was referring to install it from the market after you finish. (it works way better than CM7s' ADW)
nr3 no, you don't need to disconnect. that's how it was written by stewi21 (after his tutorial I installed CM7 also)
nr8 it's just so that you can find it more easily. you navigate a little slower using the volume keys.
nr12 applies if you don't have signal after install. you'll see by region if it's the case in baseband switcher...I didn't have to go through this stage. if you can't find it try them all until you'll have signal...
the backup is from nr10 you can skip it if you want..
also it may stuck at the boot animation...you should leave it about 2-5 minutes and if it's still stuck just take out the battery and plug it back in
Aight ill try it then.
Much appreciated
No.8. The Gapps zip file. Which one is it that i need?
The one for CM7.
edit:
here's a link
I believe you can actually delete apps without rooting your phone with titanium backup.. However, i suggest rooting and flashing cm7, its much faster!
Before I get shut down for posting about a topic that has been posted before - I am doing this so others can access all the info in one place without having to scour the web/forum/posts.
Firstly let me point out a couple of important topics of discussion:
- You may just have a phone that has a hardware error. If you run through this post and options and you don't have any success, give some serious thought to getting it repaired because no matter how many new rom releases come out it isn't going to fix it.
- Full SELinux Support - If you use TWRP2 they have recently updated to 2.7.0.1 - It's worth reading through the 'Note' listed in the changelog. They talk about how Full SELinux Support is needed for installing Kit Kat roms and some of their older versions didn't support it. (http://teamw.in/project/twrp2)
- Rom and App settings - The Rom has several places to tick/untick screen rotation. Some apps also have screen rotation toggles. The important one is the Rom settings, make sure you have actually turned rotation on. It can be found in the notifications menu at the top of your screen (if you haven't removed it through customisation), also in Settings>Display> which is not to be confused with 'Smart rotation'.
- Smart Rotation - You do not need this turned on for screen rotation to work. In fact I would recommend leaving it turned off as it slows screen rotation down. I'll leave it up to you.
- Samsung Bloatware - There has been some talk on the forum about how removing Samsung apps has caused screen rotation to break. This is possible as several library files are shared. Since you are running a "custom" Rom it's hard to know whether any scripts have been included in the installation that haven't been specifically listed in a changelog.
- Model Vs Region Vs Solution - There are quite a few S4 models available at present. Most of these have hardware differences and the solution that worked for someone else may not work for you. It's good for you to start by learning what the differences are and what components were included in the version you purchased (this will save headaches later).
BACKUP YOUR DATA - I will not be held responsible for any actions you take with your device!
Ok, let's get started with the options/work arounds that you may wish to use and how they work (You will need to have root access):
1. ReInstall the Rom - This is the first place to start. You can usually install over the top of the initial installation without any issues. This would replace any data that may be corrupt from the installation. If you have installed a custom kernel it will install the one that comes with the Rom.
2. Clean install of the Rom - Sometimes we have to strip it all the way back to like-new. This means you would need to Factory Reset the phone (this will remove all apps and sign in data). If you wish to go all the way in cleaning off your device there is a Format option available in TWRP2 and PhilzTouch. Don't format unless you know what you're doing otherwise you could format the EFS data and then you're screwed. Don't say you haven't been warned.
3. a) Install a Library file (through recovery) - This is a script that has been built to replace a library file that is removed when you uninstall Samsung Hub. There is a discussion taking place in the Note3 forum where you can get the file. Be sure to follow their instructions exactly. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=50099965
b) Install a Library file (through Android) - Using the same ScreenRotation.zip file you can download from the link above, open the zip and save 'libgnustl_shared.so'. You will need to put this file on your phone somewhere you can find it so you can copy it to the correct location and set some permissions. You need root access to even attempt this one, if you are unsure about what you're doing I would proceed with caution. It's not rocket science however you want to make sure that you don't alter any of the other files. You need to place libgnustl_shared.so into the \System\Lib folder. If the file is already there I would rename the old file rather than copying over the top. This just saves you in case anything else goes wrong and you need to go back a step. You need to change the permissions of the file before going anywhere. I used ES File Explorer to move the file and it allows simple change of the file permissions (through properties). It needs to be -rw-r--r-- or if you are using ES File Explorer then it should read Owner: Read & Write, Group: Read, Other: Read. You will then need to boot into recovery and wipe cache and davlik cache (don't confuse this with Wipe: Factory Reset).
4. Install a Stock Rom from YOUR phone provider - Telco's spend time and money ensuring their releases work with all the features of the phone, this is sometimes the reason why they take so long to update their software. Some of these features are Telco specific and others are region specific (hence my comment about being aware of what you have purchased). If you have installed a stock rom and you still have screen rotation issues it is likely (not guaranteed) that there is a hardware issue. In my experience installing a stock unmodified rom often addresses the issues that crop up on custom roms. It's worth testing it for a day or two on stock to ensure it's not intermittent. If you are willing to go to all the trouble you could try installing a custom rom again. I have has success in the past doing it this way. I can only assume that the installation of the stock rom addresses issues with internal components/firmware.
5. Kit Kat Roms - If you have loaded a bootloader that excludes you from installing your carriers stock rom (due to it being Jelly Bean or earlier), there are stock Kit Kat roms you can download in the forum. You won't have the added support of carrier addons and tweaks, however you will still get stock Samsung which is the next best thing.
What to do if none of the above work?
There are two options 1. Send it off for repair 2. Continue to work on it yourself with the help of others on the forum.
If you wish to continue working on it yourself or you have voided your warranty here are some tools to help. You need to take a look at whether your accelerometer is working - This is indicative only (an indicator) and will help you narrow the problem down.
1. In your dialer (phone) put in the following *#0*#
This will allow you to go in and see how the components are responding - You want to take a look at Sensors.
2. Accelerometer Monitor/Test Applications
There are quite a few for free on the market place - They will show you how the X, Y & Z axis are responding to the movement of the phone. Sometimes it is quite obvious when certain axis are not responding at all. Some of these applications will allow you to calibrate the sensors. I am not 100% sure whether these calibration options will work on Kit Kat. If you are speaking with a developer of a custom rom they will often query you for log data, this is code that will help them work out what is going wrong. This doesn't guarantee they will be able to fix it. Not all of the accelerometer apps provide a log but is necessary information you'll need if you decide to go down that path.
(AndroSensor is relatively good - https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.fivasim.androsensor)
Let me know how you go.
Need HELP @ Note 3 ( SM-N9002 / SM-N9009 ) SIM2 Call Audio/Mic Routing & MagMa-NX ROM
Got my hands on this one beautiful piece of Samsung Galaxy Note3 SM-N9002 Dual-Sim, and it had this odd version of Chinese samsung rom on it, as it comes from factory, half apps installed that comes with it was in Chinese and had no play store etc and was on 4.xx android, so I went and did my research, found working TWRP, managed to install it OK, then tried few beautiful ROM versions and found MagMa-NX (note7 ported ROM) works wonderfully well, zero crashes etc etc and it also has kernel support for SM-N9002 during installation which I chose to use, all features work 100% and everything works ok, all but SIM#2 call audio.
I mean, I have signal on both sim cards simultaneously OK, I can make and receive calls and all would seem ok, but when dialed to or from SIM#2 there is no audio coming out from earpiece or loudspeaker and mic dont seem to activate as even if I try to record call which feels like muted for both caller and receiver ends, call audio recorder while recording does not pick up any sound trough phone microphones, so I think its something to do with settings in some file not done right or else I dont know what I could be doing wrong.
both sim cards worked 100% ok before ROM flash, but now I'm lost because I cant even flash back to old stock rom, and yes I have gathered original android 4.xx rom but it fails flashing via ODIN every time, so my best bet is on doing some DIY on current MagMa-NX note7 port rom... I wonder if there are any fellows who I could buy the paypal-beer for great help sorting me out on this DIY project? Please PM me or post here if you feel like you could collaborate in resolving this dilemma for me... would highly appreciate folks
I will keep an eye out
I think I figured something. Everytime I attempt to make a phone call on this, I get to choose from which sim card should I dial, #1 or #2 , but what I have noticed now is that I am being asked "SIM1" or "Slot2" ... SLOT 2 I thought? That may be the reason that audio routing doesnt work well for this... tried searching build.prop but this string is not there and I just dont know where to search for this string to get this fixed, anybody can chime in?
Thanks
Did you figure it out ? As i have the same problem with the same rom in addition that when i call anyone and he is on a call i don't get notified with " call waiting

Which CSC did you choose?
I did not figure anything out guys... as I was trying to get this working, I tried every CSC option possible... none worked. Which should have been the one that's working for this models?
in fact Im thinking of selling this beauty of note3, its almost new... in case someone interested I have it... because I would love note7 port rom on this, and nothing else... PS I could live with it being just single-sim option, it works but not perfect as sim #2 is useless then... signal there and texts only works for it as described above...
at the moment its on stock adroid 5.0 and its all 100% ok and fine, flawless, but its boring!

Well, i know that mixer paths are different on single sim and dual sim phones.
Can you extract from stock rom the file "/system/etc/mixer_paths.xml" and overwrite the one in custom rom ?
I think I tried something similar if not exact with no success .. let me repeat the process just in case...
PS also, I will try and dump both versions of these files. Is there anything else I may need to dump from stock rom 5.0 rom?

There are some specific binaries and libs, but i'm pretty sure magma rom already inject them during flash when you select n9002 as variant.
Dumping the CSC folder is a good idea too.

Indeed, conflits may happen. But just dump it and let we examine it.
Ok here is what I managed to try, I backed up stock rom android 5.0 all working state mixer files from etc dir, then flashed magma rom again, backed up those same files for restoration to working state, replaced files with ones extracted while on 5.0 stock android, reboot device, no sound whatsoever, phone wont even buzz keypad dialtones or connect dial phonecalls just hangs. So I went and restored back original magmanx rom mixer files, reboot, but still no success... so now I have just finished restoring 5.0 again, will dump csc folder and share with you. will also need to charge my battery a bit because @ 30% cant expect much to happen when flashing magma nx...
Thanks for the help amigo!!!
Alright, tried merging csc from 5.0 to magmanx 6.0, no luck. then tried after this to merge mixer file from 5.0 to magmanx 6.0 , no luck, back at square1....
files attatched both versions... obviously something wasnt done right from looong time ago and had never been reported, been forgotten... in regards of 9002 users..

Did you checked correct permissions before reboot ?
I'm afraid the problem is deeper than mixer paths.
I'll try to digg more.
I enable root explorer in third party file manage, grant permission, copy file from sd card to system/etc, prompt to overwrite -grant, overwrite complete, power off phone from power-button menu, power on, done. is this bad/incorrect procedure? magmanx has root from stock, when I navigate root dir I get access grant prompt, I grant it and then I can modify whatever.
please let me know what else I could do? maybe there are specific files I could look in to dump out of working 5.0 rom? Thanks!
or maybe just directory content filenames that could/would make sense by their name etc?
its weird, I think its something to do with the kernel itself... maybe Im wrong, but I dont think 9002/9008 kernels were ever made properly to be tested thus the errors... I cant even find any other kernels for 9002 other than included in magmanx and it aint working well anyway

The file "mixer_paths.xml" must have permission set to 0644 (like other files in /system/etc directory).
And try darklord Kernel.
6044 is as per read/write permissions for user enabled, as per this link http://permissions-calculator.org/decode/0644/ , I assume these permissions will auto set after moving replacing file do they not?
Where do I obtain the darklord kernel? I was pretty sure it comes with it... let me re-do the rom and take some snips as I go

i dont know what is it
is this need for my phone to do?
(Author's Note - I tried adding apps to debloat from the Chinese ROM, yet they come back into the system after debloating and a subsequent reboot. Hence, There is no way to remove these apps other than rooting. Please do not try using the Global ROM's script on Chinese devices, you could potentially brick your phone and your only option to recover will be factory resetting.) this note in your link.but my phone isnot chines rom

Goto settings>apps>view system apps
You will notice lots of evenwell apps present which are also responsible for your issue. I recommend you run the script as soon as possible

Have you installed adb?
If you have not installed adb, visit https://developer.android.com/studio/releases/platform-tools
While if you have, copy the script to c:/adb/platform-tools
And ensure the script ends with .bat in filename, if not rename the file to before double-clicking to run debloating.
