edit: SOLVED - details below
Every version of Cyanogenmod I install on the nook color has no status bar. I've wiped caches when installing, and still no dice.
The device seems to be saving things somewhere, though, because when I start the new ROM, all the old apps are still loaded, and their positions on the home screen... so I assume the problem is some sort of app data that's been corrupted somehow or something, but I'm at a loss about how to proceed.
Is there some simple solution (a setting somewhere to toggle?) that will fix this, or do I need to do something more drastic?
Should I be doing a full "factory reset" and starting from scratch that way? If I do that, do I need to re-"nooter" the device before flashing Cyanogenmod again, or will the "root" status be kept if I "factory reset"?
Or is there some way just to delete all app data, reflash, and start from scratch that way?
Sorry if this has already been asked. I tried searching fairly extensively and couldn't find anything. Thanks in advance for any advice.
edit: Turns out all I needed to do was delete the /data partition in recovery and everything reset properly.
Thank you for posting your solution for anyone else with this problem in the future to see, far too often people will edit their whole post to say *solved*, and give no explanation.

Yeah, people who do that are jerks. It's just courtesy to post your solution to help future Googlers.

I wouldn't say jerks. They just don't know any better. The jerks are the ones who answer a question with something like "Google is your FRIEND". This is fantastic I just searched Google and that's how I ended up here!
I've usually got a few projects going on at one time that requires alot of searching and I see that alot. If that's the best answer you got then don't post. In good communities someone is usually around the corner with some copy and pasted info.
I'm having the exact same problem. Where is there an option to delete the /data partition in recovery? Under "mounts and storage" I found "format /data" but I keep getting a error when I try to do so.
Thanks!
SOLUTION FOUND: I figured out that due to fact that it was a newer Nook Color, it had the different size for the data partition. I flashed the partition resize pack and reformatted, now everything works great.
Adding to the solutions!
Okay, so I don't have a clue how to delete a partition in recovery (no option for that, or silly me I couldn't find it) and even though ed209 correctly offered that the partition had to be re-sized, I was like, "great, and I have no clue how to do that either!". So in the interest of sharing how I did get to a fully operational modified Nook Color please google, "How to make a bootable CWM (ClockWorkMod) version 3.2.0.1 recovery sd card" (androidforums link). I followed the directions and was able to get the partition size matched up so that the menu/navigation bar now shows up! Hope this helps someone else runs into the same problem.

No that won't work for you. You need to tell use what system you are running. Rooted stock, CM7, CM9, CM10? And do you have the ROM on internal memory or SD. Then we can tell you how to fix it.

Hello everybody, i need help. i'm on Pac-Man 10/11 and hell score kernel and is was vert nice. But i have a serious memory issue. I put some movies in my phone, 2 or 3 Go, and erased them with solid and ROM toolbox. Since i lost a big part of my phone memory space...
Here screenshots or all that trouble.
I'm sure it's some kind of ''bin'' issue, cache was created in the place of clearly erase the files, but i absolutly dont know how to pull that ''système data'' which use my space...
If everyone have a solution (without a complete phone reset, i have a huge app pack installed ) because i'm out of answer on other topics ...
i'm having an issue where even though i have 8gb internal storage free, my phone won't download/update anything due to 'insufficient storage space.' i think i rooted by manually placing files and installing supersu. a few months later i first this problem right after syncing 2.5gb of music to internal storage via media player. i've tried deleting all the music, and right after i still couldn't install. so i was looking for stock mja rom to unroot and try again. can't find one however hard i look. another weird thing is that my total internal storage is just under 10gb. shouldn't it be near 16? anyway, if nobody has an answer to the problem maybe someone has a full stock mja rom hidden away somewhere?
edit again - mk5 would probably do as well. i've found it various places but i haven't found a single working download link.

First off, don't install MK5 it is for a different version of the S4.
Second, you can find MK2 in the development thread or NAE which is the newest version for our phone and upgrades you to kit kat. Look for a thread from Random45 for both, 2 different threads, and download the one you want, I recommend jumping all the way to NAE for best results.
Third, listed phone memory in the specifications and actual available memory are 2 different things. The system, android and apps use almost half of your phones memory.

yeah my mistake. but the mk2 link is the rare pokemon i was after. i'll give it a shot and see if it fixes my problem. i've been screwing with phones for a little bit but i'm far from good at it, so i'm scared of jumping to nae atm. thanks also for the insight about the 'total space' seeming off. i didn't know what all it included. due to the nature of my problems, i wanted to include any information that might be relevant even if it's not really. the only help the sprint guy could give me was 'i think it might be (insert thing that they don't support).'
Hello
I'm new to android, and basically new to this techie stuff. anyway, my cousin had installed cynogenmod 12.1 on my lenovo A6000, may be its for lenovo K-30T model. coz its showing model number "lenovo K-30T" in "about phone".
And despite the RAM being free for about 300MB, the phone lags.
I want a ROM which is faster. I have come across this OS http://forum.xda-developers.com/lenovo-a6000/development/best-cm12-1-rom-lenovo-a6000-plus-withe-t3288805 . Please tell me if it's better and stable than the current one .
*screenshots
It's obviously cyanogen 12.1, so can I flash some files so that it may become the os I want on my phone? or I have to re do the flashing process? DO I have to roll back to kitkat in order to flash this OS?
If there is any other os, which has all in one good package, Pls suggest.
* fast OS
* I dont play games
* good battery backup
*good UI

Well if you want a good smooth UI with good battery backup. Try this MIUI ROM.
The UI with CM11 is not that great. But, in performance and battery, its definitely the best ROM for a6000. Here's the link for CM 11. You can surely try these customizations for CM11.
You can flash MIUI directly over your ROM after wiping system, data, dalvik, cache. But for CM11 you'll first have to flash stock KK, and then have to flash CM11, and ofcourse after a complete wipe.

Thanks a lot mate..
and in the CM11's link, in "AMPERE" screenshot, Its again showing "lenovo K30T" as model number. Now Im concerned about that here. I have same model number in my device information . For some reason, I think My cyanogen 12.1 is made for that particular reason and not for Lenovo A6000. Does it make any difference in terms of performance of the device?
PS. how do we post pictures in this forum? Im new to this whole thing Thanks in advance

Since Lenovo K-30 has same board as our a6000, so any rom working on K-30 would work on our devices too (yeah with a bit modifications). So, there's no problem in using ROMs showing device as K-30.
And, answer to the second question, you click on the 'paper clip' icon for attachments.
P.S. I too a hard time in the beginning to figure that out.:silly:

Bro, These are the screenshots of the memory status of my memory on board. Earlier before I had upgraded to lollipop update from lenovo, I had complete 8 GB as internal memory. but as soon as I had updated to that update, the size reduced, and then due to heavy lagging, I chose to root it and put 12.1 in it., then also after number of wipes and erases, still it's stuck at 4.69GB. I don't understand why complete 8GB is not being utilized.
Is there any way to unlock full potential? or did I do any wrong while flashing?
Thanks in advance

You did nothing wrong. What happened is that the data you had in your internal memory has been moved to some other folder and not actually wiped. This had happened to me a few times.
And, I actually has now forgotten what was its path. But, it was among these two for sure.
/mnt/shell/emulated/0/
OR
/data/media/0/
First copy contents of your internal memory on your sd card or pc. Then delete the contents of the above two directories, you'll get your internal memory freed. Then, you can copy back the contents.
And yeah, es file explorer is suggested for this job. Other root explorers will work too.

You have to make backup of files in "/0/" only and not of whole root directory

Okay, I have taken backup of /0/ .
and I tried going into the path you have said. But in my phone, the path only lasted like this.
"/mnt/shell"/(empty). no emulated folder
and same with the data folder in the root folder. there is no file or folder inside data folder.
Shall i delete these two folders? SHell and Data? just like that?

Use es file explorer for that. And first from its options, mount the partitions from Root explorer menu. Check all the partitions. Then you will be able to see the contents of /data/ and /shell/emulated/
Only use my Note 3 to play audio and video files.
Recently noticed some video files missing on a 64GB exFAT mSD card.
1st thought they had been deleted by Note 3.
Just did a chkdsk scan and everything OK. Have a screen capture of this but do not know how to attach.
Additional Info: My Note 3 has stock Android 4.4.2 (KitCat) and never rooted.
Am Open to all suggestions how to correct this problem.
Hey I might can offer some assistance. BUT IM A FRESH NEWBIE TO THIS. I MEAN I JUST STARTED REALLY MESSING WITH MY PHONE 2 DAYS AGO. First what type of note 3 do you have? (ie. Sprint=SM-N900P) do you have service on your phone? Do you have any experience with custom ROMs?
SurageBook said:

I hope not as this is not the Sprint model forum .
OP i would copy data off then full format sd card as a starter .
Damaged files look in the Lost Files folders .

SurageBook "what type of note 3 do you have?" Verizon "have service on your phone?" No "Do you have any experience with custom ROMs?" No
JJEgan "...i would copy data off then full format sd card as a starter." Agree did copy the wanted data.
As previously mentioned have used Windows longer than Android so used chkdsk to examine & fix the mSD Card. Everything was OK and all the missing files were shown and Not damaged,
Since posting I backed up all the wanted data and then put the mSD card back in my Note 3. All the missing files were there and undamaged. Can anyone explain this?
From experience most Windows users reload the OS every few years.
Am wondering if I should Factory reset my Android 4.4.2 OS?
Any recommendations?
Man if you just use that phone for a media device just create a backup of your phone, SD card, and copy it to your PC then install custom ROMs until you find one you like and root that bad boy. My note 3 is my primary phone with service and I have about 10 custom ROMs on my SD card that I switch every couple of days. Earlier today I was on Havco OS 2.8 android 9 now I'm on some rom that when it turns on theres a pink unicorn and its on android 7. Its easier than you think. Things you need are 1. TWRP(for your phone model) 2. Odin(on PC to flash things to your phone*optional) 3. Custom ROM 4. magisk(to root your phone) 5. Gapps (for the android version that's on the custom rom*optional) 6. Enjoy
SurageBook Thanks for the tips!
Do you know if any good tutorials concerning how to root the Verizon version of Note 3?
I don't know about Verizon I'm on sprint but if you go to the Verizon section you'll find a guide for your firmware. https://forum.xda-developers.com/verizon-galaxy-note-3/general
Please guys post in the forum for your phones .
Otherwise i see a reply on here not your models leading to a bricked phone .
