[Q] CivatoROM - Problems - Galaxy Note 3 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello, i have to post here ´cause no rights to write in development forum.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=49492813
Today i tried to flash FlexKat 6.3 over my 6.1 and CWM gave me error. Hash-Code is right and i tried to flash from sd and from internal memory (sd is exfat, was not sure if that would be a problem, was not up to 6.1)
How can i find out if the rom is damaged or what to do?
And in the past days i have serious problems to connect via USB. Am i the only one and my usb is going to die? At the moment my note isnt connected at USB3 and at USB2 i get an error when i try to write date, on internal and on external sd.
Any suggestions?

Öhm? I always flashed newer versions by cwm dirty (only caches wiped). All the years
And i am just bootin a 6.2 flashed dirty over the 6.1 - only the 6.3 gives error. And this error is not because of dirty or not - that MAY be at the USB-Problem, but error at flashing ignores if wiped or not, just writes to a partition that is clean or not. W/o wipe there may be old files causing problems, but in my case there is flashed nothing, just opening romfile seems to fail.
Edit: to makle clear, maybe i used the wrong term? cwm in this case is the custom recovery.

one of my customers used to say "easy things i can do on my own"*G
In startpost i wrote: "Hash-Code is right and i tried to flash from sd and from internal memory (sd is exfat, was not sure if that would be a problem, was not up to 6.1)" - hashcode/md5 was one of my first thoughts. But - no...
But thanks
Edit: ok, md5 seems to be wrong... "my" md5 was identical to the one on AndroidFileHost. But "now" i see a new hash there... Not the hash, the file on AFHJ appears as it has been corrupt.

Corrupted SD Card Investigation

Hey guys,
With my SD card corrupted, If i put my 16GB microSD card in and flash I9000UGJG8 the phone boots, without any SD cards showing up, now here is what I am thinking.
1. Instead of flashing the stock I9000UGJG8, I am going to try a pre-rooted complete rom (2.1) using ODIN. Know of any?
2. Once I get the phone up and running with a pre-rooted Rom, repartition using linux / terminal / adb.
I need help doing the above as I am not an advanced linux users, anyone with this kind of knowledge willing to help me, perhaps we can help a lot of members in the community who have this issue.
yes, I know, I know all this has a chance provided it is not a hardware issue. I suspect its a software issue.
Ok Step one is done, heres how I did it.
1. Flash I9000UGJG8 using odin, before restart pull out EX SD manual copy Clockwork Recovery rename to update.zip also copy Tayutam's rom (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=774950#)
2. Insert SD card into phone and boot to recovery, choose apply update.zip, phone boots to recover 2e again, select apply update.zip and you boot to CWM.
3. While in CWM choose apply .zip form sd and select Tayutam's.
4. Now I have booted into a rom with root.
Now to figure out step 2 help, please
I found this - http://androidandme.com/2009/08/news/how-to-manually-partition-your-sd-card-for-android-apps2sd/
My friend has this problem and coudnt return the phone because he lost the receipt.
Just to check - you have /data but not /sdcard ? In this case, it can't be corrupt, it simply isn't formatted. This is easy to fix using parted.static binary.
This is only if you have a /data but not a /sdcard.
yes that is correct,
I have /data.
Can you help me format the /sdcard?

Just flash any good ROM via ODIN or Kies. It will be back. You might lose the data, I am not sure.

If you have solved your issue, please say it on your Title.
And explain how you did it. Might help others.
I bet you haven't made it a ntfs right? cos only the fat types would work as a filesystem.

Hers's how I do.
When I have a costom ROM installed, want THIS ROM, I put my phone into download mode, fire up Odin, select 512 pit, select reparation.
Just as its restarting, pull battery, again put into download & flash your ROM thru Odin, here no pit no repartition your pda, modem, csc, & you are thru
Hope it helps.
Is this the same issue when the phone still boots but gives the error message saying " Internal SD card Damage, Format required" ??
I had situation like most where phone would power off after the initial logo.
Now, I had a 8GB external microSD card which I used with the phone from the beginning ad added storage but have been removed since phone not booting up.
When I for whatever reason decided to put back the external microSD card in hope that maybe I can put the ROM file in there to flash to different ROM or something but I couldn't because in recovery mode, either internal or external sdcard would not mount.
But! when the external microSD card plugged in, I was able to fully boot the phone into the OS. (I tried both JG8 & JH2). But once it was booted into the OS, I would get a message in notification bar saying something about 'can not mount internal sdcard' or something, plus can't mount external sdcard either.
So the phone was working (to a limit) other than anything else that required sdcard storage.
I mean, I tried repartitioning from Odin and such and there was no difference. Same result.
Oh by the way, without the external microSD card, I was not able to do 3-button combo to get in to Recovery Mode but I could get in to Download Mode.
Only way to get in to Recovery Mode was to insert the external microSD card.
So at least you can fully boot into the OS. Mine does boot but I get a black screen. Right after the flash completes on first reboot, as soon as it hits the recovery menu, it fails to copy factory data over to the internal SD card and complains about not being able to mount the internal SD card. This seems to be a common problem to the non-international versions of the I9000 (specifically I9000M)?
Thanks ragin I will give you method a try and see what happens.
My friend's still does not work. Repartition or not, tried so many roms, still boots up but after the blank logo, it is just completely blank screen but the back button or menu button are lit when pressed. Even with an external microcard in, it still wont boot. I think the internal memory card is corrupted as indicated on the recovery mode
It says
E: Can't mount /dev/block/mmcblk0p1
E: Can't mount /dev/block/mmcblk0p1
(No such file or directory)
E:copy_dbdate_media: Cant't mount SDCARD:
copy default media content failed
That is the error that comes up right after flashing the phone with any ROM that are known good. And when reboot now is selected, it just shows blank screen right after the samsung logo shows up
That is the infamous internal sdcard corruption that quite a few Bell users are experiencing (see the thread in the general section). I had it once - I repartitioned and recovered; the next time it happened there was no way of fixing it. Tried many ROMS, repartitioning etc. I sent it in to Bell and they had to replace the motherboard.
I really hope there is a software/firmware fix but I don't have high hopes... good luck.

in windows/linux when you have a drive that does not have a drive letter or is courupted you go into fdisk/gpart and fix it, why cant we do that in Android.
Flash drives dont just get corrupted where it is unfixible, I could see loosing the data but a low level partition and/format should be able to fix it.
Just my 2 cents
so no progress? i flashed Doc's JK3 rom, and my phone died within 2 days of flashing it.
i guess i'm going to read up on fdisk and gpart, and see if i can get something going.

Cache partition issue - cannot wipe or mount

HELP! having multiple issues with Nexus S. Cannot wipe cache partition, and wont mount in recovery either. Also my built in storage is now gone. let me give you guys a quick overview of what happened:
We have a dev version of the nexus s (gingerbread version is not retail) in our office. We were having difficulty factory wiping the device (it would complete but nothing would erase) so someone decided to flash a different leaked rom for the Nexus S. The phone was basically a brick afterward. I managed to flash Clockwork on to the device. This is where I found that the cache partition wouldn't mount. Either would the SDCard (USB storage, whatever). I couldnt erase either partitions, and it also couldnt mount the USB storage (was going to try a nand restore from another thread). The only way i could get mass storage was by partitioning the "SDCard" through recovery. This managed to give me a 1 GB partition that windows would recognize (and would mount through clockwork) It wasnt formatted, so i did a quick format with windows, copied the nand backup and restored it to the device. it now boots, but with a few issues. First no data, second i cannot hard reset through menu, third we're having multiple FCs. FINALLY the worst, is still no USB storage. Wont mount USB storage at all. Sometimes device memory displays 3.5 TB (WUT!?). Cannot download any apps.
WHEW
Sorry that was really long. Basically, the phone is messed up, and I cannot mount or wipe the Cache partition, the USB Storage is now missing, and the Restored Nand backup is super bugged. Any ideas?
As a note
I've also deleted the cache partition and re-created through parted. still wont mount cache OR USB Storage
Sorry to bump an old thread, but I'm having this problem too. I want to install CM7, but I don't want to risk formatting the /system and /data partitions if the /cache partition refuses to format. You seem like you're having the same problem as I am having and I wonder whether this is done on purpose from Samsung to disable custom ROM flashing. (I got mine straight from Samsung too).
Has anyone solved this?
looks like I have this issue also ... looks like memory is corrupt ... I can't save any files when mounting the usb device ... When I disconnect, all the files disapear ... any ideas ?
have the same problem but i can't boot in android either it just hangs at google logo and if i boot in recovery i get this error (didn't flash any roms yet it happend after i flashed clockworkmode
i was able to boot andriod again with odin but clockwork still gives the cache error so i still can't flash anything else on it
Am still learning....but just a few quick questions....adb is still working?.....and computer makes connection sound when phone plugged in? Have you tried reinstalling drivers the flashing recovery and then nandroid.......for some reason when i had a simiilar problem....my phone would not flash any rom but only do restore for nandroid....
also can you access the usb storage at all? You say it dissappears after ?
well i was able to put my device in download mode and install a rom with odin and i can boot again, but after that i reinstalled clockworkmod and again it's giving me the cache error. i can't install/backup/restore/.... anything in clockworkmod i keep getting cash error.
ps. it's a new i9023 device running 2.3.3 stock
can you tell me what it says on your bootloader screen when you boot into it( assuming that you can)
fastboot mode
product name - hearing
hw version - rev 52
bootloaderversion - i9020xxka3
baseband version - i9020xxkb3
carrier info - eur
serial number - ... (if you need it pm)
lock state - unlocked
...
So whilst in bootloader you can flash recovery.img (I have the file if you need it)
eg...fastboot flash recovery recovery.img......
then can you access newly flashed recovery and maybe then restore.....I still dont know if you can access usb storage on the device
well yes i can access usb storge in clockworkmod (it's one off the only things that works in clockworkmod ) and if the recovery you have also is clockworkmod then it won't do much difference clockworkmod doesn't seem to find my cash or anything
btw i just saw there are 2 threads with almost the same around and looks like i posted in both don't know why but was pretty late last night when i posted seems the problem i have is the one in this topic (still no solution tough): http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=12204800#post12204800

Yeah so have you tried a nandroid restore then....Not a new rom installation!......a nandroid restore which was either a stock restore or a rooted rom in which cache was accessible....sorry if you have just want to check the obvious first.
have you tried flashing an older recovery of clockwork mod?
If you have then probably is just a new nexus S issue which needs a workaround?
oh yes tried nandroid restore first (got cache error during that aswel if i rember corectly, atleast didn't work)
only thing that worked was using odin from: http://www.samfirmware.com/apps/blog/show/6263048-nexus-s-roms-now-online-
after that i was able to boot the phone again and i did another clockworkmod recovery and got the same error that's shown in first post: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=12204800#post12204800
atleast i can access android now, i think there is maybe something different between the new phones in europe since some other ppl that bought their phone recently are having the same problem and it's only since this week you can buy them (well in belgium atleast, don't know about other country's)
i can try if you know where to find an older clockwork mod, i seem only to find "recovery-clockwork-3.0.0.5-crespo.img"

Troubles with Rom Manager and Flashing

I am having a lot of issues with Rom manager. Whenever I create a backup and try to back it up it refuses to work. It acts like it worked. But when I try to restore to that backup it says MD5 mismatch. I am currently running a froyo leedroid rom. I have tried to flash over to a GB Leedroid rom and a Coredroid rom. Neither of them work.
It says finding update package
opening update package
can't open file bad.
I am seriously annoyed with rom manager WTF is the point in creating a damn backup if I can't restore it at a later point?
Now my sdcard will not mount says its is mounted as read only and it wont do a damn thing now...
Bump wondering how to check an MD5. Still wondering what is up with Rom manager. Silly question but am I having troubles because I bought a different memory card for the phone? I did a partition and wiped it but just not sure.
http://www.softpedia.com/get/System/File-Management/MD5-Checker.shtml
use that to check the MD5. Obviously something getting corrupt along the way. I cant imagine its the memory card but Im not 100%. Hopefully someone with more knowledge than me will pop along shortly.

Hi I'm pretty new here so I'm may be wrong about this, but could it be a problem with Froyo and GB? It's like using office 2010 and 2007 version, may not be backward compatible. But I may be wrong, just a a guess on my part.

Looks to me like you've got a flaky SD card, certainly I have no problems creating and restoring backups although I am on CM7 but that shouldn't make a difference, first off though make sure youre running the lastest ROM Manager and Clockwork versions then try a different SD card.
Okay I am still having issues with Rom manager. I tried putting in a new sd card and it will not mount to the system. I hit mount and it just pops back up saying its ready to remove. I now can't reboot into recovery nor flash clockwork recovery. It said an error occurred while flashing your recovery.
Also I really don't like that I can't even take a picture or use my camera because it says it can't save to the SD card due to insufficient file permissions. Yes I have done fix permissions in rom manager. But it still wont work..
have you tried to do it directly in CWM?
if so, try to flash a newer CWM version (through fastboot, ROM Manager is known to cause some problems).
Hello iam also having problems but i am have my DHD freeze at the splash screen when trying to enter recovery, any ideas please.

ROM manager wouldn't prevent mounting of a new SD card, thats got to be a hardware issue or an issue with your current ROM, try flashing either a different custom ROM or a stock ROM if your SD card woes continue it's a hardware issue, if not it's a ROM issue but either way I think we can safely rule out ROM manager.

Try reflashing Clockwork recovery, either from Fastboot or from ROM manager.
Tried using ROM Manager but got nowhere so i followed this post and it worked first time http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1003723 , it was great for new guys like me.
But thank you for your help.
I figured out what the problem was. Even though I had formatted that new sd card it still wouldn't mount so I formatted it on the computer and now everything is fine. I don't use that other sd card anymore. I guess it was really just a bad sd card. So a word of advice to everyone that not all sd cards are created equal!
Thanks for all the help everyone!
Wise words there! I've been through 4 memory cards lol and each one broke. One after the other.
I use Rom Manager only to install CWM, and then I flashed all new rom by recovery from SD card.
I propose not to save a money on buying cheap card. It so important

Need Stock-i500-VZW-Kernel.tar.md5

Hosed my Fascinate by trying to flash a recovery through Odin -> The recovery also had a kernel in the file that I didn't realize. Phone attempts to boot then reboots into recovery. I would prefer not to do a factory reset until I try reflashing the right kernel.
I am aware of this thread that used to have the file I need, but evidently the guy has removed it from his Dropbox now. Does anyone have a copy they can throw up for me? I think I could use the recovery image, too, but it is a little bit easier to find so don't go to great lengths for the recovery.
Will reflashing the correct kernel even fix my problem? I haven't touched /system. Should all my stuff still be there when I get back in?

If you have access to your sd card via windows, look for http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1459905 on kernels. The stock is in post 1 at the bottom with the rest of the links. Download it, copy to your sd card and install it via recovery and it should work. If not, find droidstyle's guide, download the CWM 2.5 flash that in Odin, then install kernel.
Sent from my SCH-I500 using XDA App
Edit: Got it. Thanks!! It's booting up fully!!
Nothing below this line matters anymore, but I am leaving it for Google arrivals. The problem I list in this post was caused by excessive copying of the files. I first downloaded the file from the internet, copied it from Firefox downloads folder to my desktop, copied it up to my LAN server, copied it over to my Motorola Droid Bionic SD card, unmounted the SD card and put it into the Fascinate for installation.
The RIGHT way that worked was removing the network component. I just plugged the Bionic into the PC and mounted USB storage mode, copied files over, unplugged, let the SD card remount on the Bionic, manually unmount on the Bionic, remove the card and put it into the Fascinate.
Thanks for being patient with me. Your thread is obvious at the top of the forum but I ignored that method because it was flashing zips in recovery, which I couldn't get into at the time. I got the CWM 2.5 to work, and I did make a successful nandroid backup (will a factory reset restore the kernel, now that I have a backup?).
I did try to flash both versions of that stock kernel kernel-eh03-GB.zip and kernel-eh03-GB_signed.zip and get the same error on both. I even tried with a different SD card:
-- Installing: SDCARD:kernel-eh03-GB.zip
Finding update package...
Opening update package...
E:Can't open /sdcard/kernel-eh03-GB.zip
(bad)
Installation aborted.
I've tried downloading the files again, too. I wonder if it's worth noting that I did previously try to mount the SD card to Windows from CWM. It mounted, but when I tried to copy the file over, Windows told me the media was write-protected. WTF? Haven't seen that since floppies.
I think I'm going to call it a night and if I don't hear anything else on this in the morning I'll just do a factory reset and see if that restores the kernel. Then I can reinstall CWM and restore my backup. *long sigh*
Thanks again, man.

Thats alright, dont worry about it man. Yeah it does sound like you need a factory reset. your phone isnt accepting the download. for ****s and giggles tho, try not using CWM to put the file onto your SD card, and plug it directly into your computer and redownload and transfer that way and see if it takes, if not then you'll definatly have to factory reset. Go here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1238070 Follow section 4 to return to stock. That should fix it.

[Q] My poor huawei u8800 update trying..

I was not using for 1 year, 3 days ago i tried to update it from 2.3.5. I searched some roms and could not decide which one was for me, only i wanted was long battery. I started to install aurora with cwm but now after boorting, it shows huawei logo and then going into black screen.
And everything was deleted. I had made circle battery, and partionaded sdcard and memory to increase memory card capacity.
Now, when i connect to pc, i cant see the driver info. I installed adb drivers but it gave errors.
I dont know what to do and which rom to update...
Please help me to solve this.
How do you update to Aurora?
Can you go to CWM recovery? And bootloader (pink screen)?
Did you format data, system, cache before udpdate to any custom rom?
btw you can boot on Aurora with partitioned disk but try with default partition just to be sure. My advice is downgrade to stock rom then root, change recovery and then update to any custom rom.

btw you can boot on Aurora with partitioned disk but try with default partition just to be sure. My advice is downgrade to stock rom then root, change recovery and then update to any custom rom.

I made wipe data cache calvik and then flash zip from sd.
I can go cwm recovery.
I downloaded 2.3.5 stock rom, but there were not working links on Huawei site so i found a Portuguese 2.3.5. I ddid know if it is stock or not.
Doesn't matter if is stock rom you'll be fine. Can phone boot fine from stock rom? If yes download Aurora rom zip one more time and try again :good:.
Install Aurora v5 then u21 after that reboot. But i didn't know how it isn't booting try format that 3 things i said you can see that options on advanced menu.
btw did this happen with others stock roms?

I couldnot go into sdcard because pcgives error, doesnot accept drivers. What is u21?
Other roms worked well until aurora flashed.
While phone iwas on, i could make debuggin and so i could use sd card to copy. Now it is closed because i cant open it, despite i insatall adb drivers, i cant still access to sd card. i can see 2 partition in my computer but it deosnot let me go in. Why is that? How will i put 2.3.5 zip again to recover?

What rom do you have now? See if sd card is read on settings. If u want you can try re-download zip again.

Pcsays new hardware found, then i show huawei drivers to load but it doesnot accept and when i click on huawei partitions in my computer, it says insert a disk.
I cant see what rom i have. I cant open. I cant connect. I can only flash the aurora zip in sd card.
Do you have possibility to try your sd card on other device or maybe sd reader? Try to format if it's still not working try with another one.
I am convinced that you might have flashed the wrong zip. What is the name of the zip file that you have tried to flash?

There is your problem. You were supposed to flash aurora 5.0 experimental zip file first. After that you have to flash the update 20 zip file (without wiping).
So, have you tried going into cwm recovery > mounts and storage > mount USB storage. Then connect the phone to your computer

I didn't understand until now that you haven't got sd external card lol. You need to install aurora_v5 first and after that update20 or update 21.
But if you can boot to recovery you should connect to internal sd to pc and show as usb disk. Try that.

Yes, you have to make sure you have upgraded to official 2.3.5. After that, flash Aurora v5 Experimental. Then flash update 20 on top without wiping.
It would be easier if you get a MicroSD card Reader.
