Is my phone right? - Verizon Galaxy S 5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

So I rooted a little while back then I went back to stock and now I'm on the NE9 kernel, build date is July 17th. My question is, my friend has the Droid Razer Maxx and his KitKat version is 4.4.4 while his Kernel build is older from June. Mine is still 4.4.2. I'm confused because why would the S5 be behind the Maxx when our phone is newer. I just didn't know if when I Odin'ed back to stock it wasn't the complete up to date OTA build.

KitKat 4.4.4 is not available for the S5 yet, nor are there any ports of it for our phone.

There is a chance, but not soon if at all.

the MF3 is part of the android build number, so MF3 is not and will not be seen of again.
The sgh-337 will see android 4.4 and beyond, however.
Don't hold your breath. Even if we get it ,it won't be unlocked as far as the bootloader

So do I need to RSD lite back to 4.2.2 from the 4.4 leak?

The survey says you should.
But it may work it may not, if you decide to stay let us know how it turns out.
But the leaked has this bootloader upgraded. Can we go back to 4.2.2?

People on the leak thread have confirmed we can RSD back

If you are on a higher version ROM that what ATT has pushed out to the public so far, the Soak will fail.
Has anyone received the soak yet?

You might want to double check this.
It was my understanding that if you fastboot flashed only PARTS of the LEAKED Pre-Release ATT or T-Mobile ROM you possibly cold flash back to 4.2.2, BUT after taking the OTA Kit Kat update, Verizon users with locked boot loader are not able to flash back to 4.2.2.

It's speculated its because the ATT leak is a nonfinal build. It needs to be necessary to flash back in case of build problems

Hoping the AT&T Soak works like VZW.... Release the update to everyone... then send Soak surveys to Soak Testers. LOL

Hopefully. Just wondering if I should RSD back to 4.2 to then take the update. I'm on the ATT leak.

Based on the build numbers of the official 4.4 that Verizon and Tmobile have received the updated AT&T leak may be the identical version that gets officially released - the build numbers match.
I'm debating whether I want to go back to 4.2.2 just to take a soak test of, presumably, the same build I'm already running.
I basically run my business from my phone and without titanium backup, the pain of backing up (what can be backed up) and then flashing back then restoring sounds like far too much hassle... But I do want to help moto in vetting the latest build, I can't at this time justify the time and energy of doing so...

Suggestions for a TW4.2.2 ROM?

My phone was basically soft-bricked and I had to revert to stock using g ODIN and update to 4.2.2. I am going to re-root, but I am wondering if anyone can suggest a compatable 4.2.2 TW ROM that has a transparent notification panel and preferably a darker phone ap/dialer.
I am still pretty new here, but I am learning more every minute!

What do you mean "update" to 4.2.2? Your phone should have come with that version. Also, 4.3 and 4.4.2 are out as well; there are many more types of these ROMs floating around. Check my signature for an example.
Sorry, I meant I head to update to 4.4.2 FROM 4.2.2. I traded an iPhone 5 for it. The guy said that it was rooted, but I traded it over half a year ago, so I'm pretty sure he realized that the new baseband had screwed up his ability to flash custom roms.

Question about baseband versions.

I am still running a KitKat ROM and I recently returned my phone to stock because I was about to trade with someone. That fell through so I rooted and installed an NI2 kitkat ROM again. Service at my house seems a little worse and I'm thinking I may have flashed a different baseband before.
Currently on NI2 and wondering what other baseband I can flash while on KitKat?

Revert

Is there a way to revert back to an older version to be able to regain root. I'd like to go back to 4.4.2 or at least the last known rootable?

If you took any stock firmware update past 4.4.2, then there's no current root method for 4.4.4+ and no way to downgrade to any version earlier than 4.4.4. Per Droidstyle's restore guide, Verizon has Samsung blacklisted the bootloaders so you can't go back to earlier versions.

If you want to "go back" to 4.4.2 then that means you are at 4.4.4 or higher and there is no known way to either root or go back.
Sorry
