Did kitkat change something? I'm quite sure jelly bean did not have this problem. Sometimes my USB otg wires would be detected and I can transfer files across.other times, it ejects the USB on its own even without being moved. Sometimes it wouldn't even show up as connected.
I used USB otg troubleshooter and it says the problem is "no device detected in Linux". Is that a ROM problem? A kernel problem? I have three different USB otg wires and they all work variably so I can't say for sure if its the hardware. Sometimes rebooting helps. Sometimes it doesn't. Turning it off then back on also helps at times. I don't get it anymore.
I wasn't able to notice what changed when this happened unfortunately. I can't blame kitkat too much because I remember a time when I was able to watch videos from my externally powered HDD on the dock using the same otg wire on kitkat.I shifted ROMs and kernels with no improvement...

Whenever I plug something (mouse, keyboard, flash drive) using an OTG cable it works for a few seconds, then it stops. Sometimes it gets reconnected and disconnected and sometimes it won't recognize the OTG cable until a full shutdown (sometimes even after that).
I'd like to know if replacing the I/O assembly would help fix the problem.
Here are some considerations:
1) I tested it using lots of cables, so this is not a faulty cable problem
2) I've used a lot of ROMs and Kernels (4.2.2, 4.3), CyanogenMod, Timur, Stock...
3) I've noticed no problem when charging or using the Nexus 7 plugget on the PC
4) cat /proc/kmsg shows that a random interrupt is triggered when the device is plugged on Nexus 7.
I have knowledge of programming and compiled my own kernel disabling the interrupt that get HOST --> SUSPEND.
Then the device keeps working, so I suspect this is really a hardware problem.
Which brings me back to my first question:
Do you think that replacing the I/O assembly would solve this issue?
Thanks in advance to anyone willing to help.
I'm having a charging issue and am lost on what else to try to fix this. I can't charge using my OEM adaptor and cable, only when connected to PC with USB. The USB cable that works with my PC is the same one I use with the adaptor.
The USB port is on my phone is good, charges fine when connected to PC (although much slower because of different mVS). Read a suggestion to make sure the tab part of the USB connector isn't bent, it doesn't look damaged at all and like I said, has zero problems connecting to my laptop.
Have tried almost everything except going back to stock, and nothing fixes it. I've turned debugging mode off and back on, restored a backup from before the issue began, completely wiped and reinstalled 2 different build of ROMs with and without apps, fixed permissions, tried different kernels, different USB cables...
The adaptor is in good condition. But when plugged in while my phone is on, it doesn't recognize that's it's connected. Previously it would give a false charging reading. If my device is off, sometimes I would get the grey bar battery, but now it's just vibrating every few seconds. Idk what to do...
I have an i337m and am currently running slimkat weekly 6.2 but tried official 6.0 and restored a weekly 5.9 from before the issue began
I did format /data and /data/media (internal sdcard) I think right before the issue began in order to remove some old folded that would appear during cwm installations of zips from internal storage (e.g., hyperdrive for ex, which I haven't had installed since December) but that shouldn't screw up charging at all
Dude, you're trying way to hard. You're charger is messed up
Sent from my Nexus 5 using XDA Free mobile app
I hope that's the case lol it worked for a bit last night until I unplugged it, then when I plugged it back in nothing happened... seems to only work if power cycled after being connected to my PC
S7 edge exynos variant, always show USB charging so charging slow all the time using USB even tried few charges n cables.
OTG power up the pendrive but no detected by the device.
Tried a new charging port yet still the same issue...
Anyone encounter same issue?
Me too have a similar problem
I have TWRP; so, I can flash custom ROMs,
pc cannot identify the phone,
OTG doesn't work.
NO fast charging - charging take around 4-5 hours, the phone always show USB charging
WIreless charging working (Including fast wireless charging)
it almost for more than a month
First, I thought some USB problem
SO, When the display is broken I changed it with a display with the frame which also comes with new USB.
Still no change, slow charging and no OTG
- I tried several ROMs & Kernels
- changed USB setting in developer setting
still problem not solved.
IS it hardware related or software related problem?
I have this problem with my g935a. No longer quick charge by cable, and PC unable to recognize.
So my phone will charge fine but only in "slow" charge.
I am unable to connect usb to laptop etc.
It only charges.
ADB, fastboot, MTP, Fast Charge doesn't work anymore.
All drivers installed fine, tested 4 cables, debbuging is on (tried off too)
I flashed stock ROM same issue, flashed fulmics same problem.
I did have the usb plug replaced by LG as it made my phone go crazy on/off charge every second until I unplugged it.
Any other suggestions?
I had this happen just yesterday and my problem was a buildup of lint in the usb port which prevented the cable from being fully inserted. The connection was good enough to charge (sometimes slow charging only) but usb communications just didn't work. I used compressed air and the pointy end of a small zip tie to clean it out.

Done all that too and still not working. Getting paranoid incase I run into issue I cannot connect via fastboot or download mode. Laptop doesn't even recognize it.
Hello,
I have had a good time using a usb c stick with exFAT to transfer files to and forth from my s8+. In the holidays I had water over the device and after the usb liquid issue. After some days it went away but now no stick , be it my usb c one or others with the OTG connector , is connecting.
Problem is that through cable phone connects to the PC ( although slower than usual ). Also charging first detects a fast charge through original charger and in 2 seconds drops to normal charging. For a while I have reset the device with the stick connected and it got read but after unplugging direct or unmount would
not reappear at a second plug.
Any ideas , this is driving me crazy ( even did a full reset to no avail ).
I hope that somebody can figure this out and it is not a hardware fault. Is there any way of downgrading to oreo april or earlier ?
