[Q] [HELP] SGH-1337M No sound, no wifi - Galaxy S 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello everyone. long time lurker, first time poster.
To make a long story short, I had a gs4 since june 2013, but last week I got mad and threw it at a wall. (stupid, huh) The phone still works, but the calling functionality is screwed to high hell: I cant hear them and they cant hear me. also, no dial tone.
Anyways, I got a new one today through rogers device protection and as I was updating and installing app, software, and my prefernces, I misconfigured an xposed module and got stuck in a bootloop.
I reflashed my phone with what seemed to be the correct firmware, but i guess not after reading different posts similar to this one. I think I used the correct firmware, but not the correct PIT file. the filename of the mdf is : I337MVLUAMDJ_I337MOYAAMDJ_I337MVLUAMDJ_HOME.tar.md5 also, the PIT file was from wind, but I only saw that after flash.
On this new phone, I have no sound and no wifi. I cant test calling functionality as I dont have the signal to do so, But I still have basic 4g connectivity by testing youtube, and sms works perfectly.
For record's sake, it's from rogers.
Model: SGH-1337M
Android version: 4.2.2
Build Number: JDQ39.1337MVLUAMDJ
Kernel Version: 3.4.0-517283
[email protected] #1
EDIT: The original SW Ver. Is 1337MVLUFNE1, so I definitely got the wrong rom on here. I found the same rome version on google, so off to odin I go
If anyone could help me, I will be forever grateful. Also, if more information is required, I have the original packaging from both phone and I still have the original phone, so ask away.
Thanks,
Reach

Can't hear audio in calls on 4.2.2

Hello all. I'm trying to solve this problem for more then 3 hours and I'm really starting to have a headache from all of it.
When I call someone or someone calls me I can't hear the person on the other side, but they can hear me with no problem. How to fix this?
I already did a Factory Reset and that didn't help, I tried connecting and disconnecting my headphones and the problem was still there. I don't care about LTE compatibility.
Phone specs are:
Android version: 4.2.2
Baseband version: .48
Bootloader:MAKOZ10o
Build number: JDQ39
I didn't update anything on my phone, it came with that software installed. I just rooted it and nothing else.
EDIT: I think this is important too so I will add it. At one time the earpiece speaker did work, the in stopped so I did a Factory Reset and it didn't help. When I plugged in and out my headphones, it was fixed. Later, it got broken again, but now I can't fix it with plugging my headphones in and out.
EDIT 2: So I read on the Internet that I can downgrade to a older Android version and that then the problem will be fixed. My question is, to what version and what functionality will I lose?
EDIT 3: Updating to radio .54 fixed the issue. Thank you for helping.
This may sound stupid but...... did you check the volumes?

Yes, it's all the way up.
Well your baseband is fine assuming you didn't try any LTE hacks (which you're on .33+ so you probably didn't). Stock rom, stock kernel?
What else did you do?

New to Flashing, Want to install Eclipse [Note 3]

Hello everyone.
Is there a one true guide to installing a ROM on my Note 3? I'm running a T-Mobile N-900T. It seems that after browsing the web, I've seen so many different ways to install a ROM that I'm extremely hesitant to try one on the off-chance that it is no longer supported and may brick my device. This is a non-warrantied phone (bought it on Swappa) so I only get once chance if I end up Hard Bricking it, so my fear level is at the absolute highest.
I wanted to run Eclipse Note 3 TW Rom (found here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2620723) because it's a nice simple ROM that retains S-Pen function and removes all the bloat and stuff. However, I noticed that it says "This is based off of 4.4.2 NC2 for Verizon Wireless." Does this mean it won't work with a T-Mobile Note 3?
This is as far as I got in towards the process before I stopped due to something unexpected:
1) TowelRoot. Rooted it and confirmed with the Root app that it was indeed rooted.
2) Downloaded SuperSU. I installed the binary using the Normal mode since I didn't have CWM or TWRM at the time. It asked me to disable KNOX and it looks like it was fine. I restarted it.
This is where I stopped. After I installed it, it asked me to confirm if I want to confirm allowing Freedom and SetCPU. I did and it continuously started spamming the notification that it was allowed for 20 minutes.
I went into the SuperSU program to see what's wrong and it then told me that the Binary could NOT be found and that I may have to flash my rom back to get it back to normal. It then gave me the error that something was wrong on my phone and that I might have to install something called Samsung Kies to make it better.
I pretty much freaked out at this point and de-installed SuperSU out of fear that I might screw up my phone. Now I'm extremely fearful to do anything without seeing some sort of de facto guide on what to do next.
If it helps, here's the phone information I have. I know that different ROM flashing methods are used for various kernels.
Model: SM-N900T
Android Version: 4.4.2
Baseband: N900TUVUCNB4
Kernel: 3.4.0-660648 | [email protected] #1 | Wed Feb 12 21:31:27 KST 2014
Build Number: KOT49H.N900TUVUCNB4
SE for Android Status: Enforcing | SEPF_SM-900T_4.4.2_0005 | WED FEB 12 21:31:01 2014
Security Software Version: MDF v1.0 Release 2
I have a 128GB Samsung SDXS MicroSD. The phone recognizes 119 GB of it which I know is normal.
Any help or direction would be most appreciated. The world of Flashing has so many roads that my head is spinning and my fear is that I will turn this phone into a $500 brick because I followed the wrong guide.
Thank you.

Thanks.
I do understand that and I have the program, but I can't find any SOLID documentation. I see all these different guides out there and I'm scared that I'm going to pick the wrong one. The ages vary as well, so I don't know if they are still relevant or not.
Not only that, I don't believe that just Odin is enough. There are also prerequisites that are required before I can just up and use Odin. That'st he part that I would hope a decent guide out there would provide me.
A bit early by a few minutes but, Bump for help.
Any information or leads would be terrific.
Thank you.

[Q] Rooting Note III Question

Yes, this has probably been gone over ad nauseum throughout the site. Due to time constraints I cannot dig through the forums as much as I'd like, so I'm simply going to ask.
Phone: Samsung Note III (SM-N900V)
Carrier: Verizon Wireless
OS Version: 4.4.2
Baseband Version: N900VVRUCNC4
Kernal Version: 3.4.0
Build Number: KOT49H.N900VVRUCNC4
Hardware Version: N900V.07
It was purchased November 2013 with OS 4.3. Over the summer I accepted the OTA update to 4.4.2. My phone went to hell. Battery gets chewed through like a woodchipper, phone is horribly laggy, antenna connection is always 1-2 bars under where it was prior to update (and doesn't get reception in areas it did before), changes to the UI are less than desirable, etc.
The phone was never rooted, as this was the first phone I've ever had that worked well enough on stock software that I skipped it.
After giving it a few months on the update and trying changes/tweaks within the updated stock software to fix the issues the update caused, I'm at the end of my patience. Contacting support at both Verizon and Samsung was pointless, with one blaming the other for the problems.
What I'd love is to take the OS back to 4.3 and leave it, but in lieu of that I want to root the hell out of it and put a build on without these issues and a better antenna software. I'd prefer not to void the KNOX, but at this point I'd microwave it if it'd help.
I have no backups or root access from before the update to base a root on. I tried towelroot; install button doesn't work and I understand the maker Geohot works for Google now. I started to play with Odin, however the install seems to have an oddly high amount of other software it wants to install, and even after declining those it doesn't want to install (tried 3.09 and 3.10, I'm using Windows 7 w/latest SP and updates). Also, it drives my AV software crazy, so even turning that off and working with it didn't get me very far.
So, at this point, I'm open to most anything to get this crap off my phone, and my only requirement is that I don't brick it.
Options?
Thanks in advance for any help.

This is the best breakdown of what you need to do. Click here, scroll till you see the blue outline for NC4 OTA.
Be sure to hit "thanks" on @az_biker link for this tutorial!
Unfortunately this won't work, I've already tried. When running the towelroot installer the Install button is not clickable. The other buttons function normally.
Op did you ever hey the note rooted....did you get the towel root to work

No to both, unfortunately.
I've had no issues with towelroot. But for giggles make sure you have install from unknown source checked, and then unlock your developer options and make sure USB debug is enabled, then give it another shot.

I have not, since the leaked NC2 firmware was leaked out. However on my s4 I just used towelroot with the latest NC5 firmware, and it worked flawlessly.

Network Problem :c

Hi! I read every forum/post I could, but I don't know what else to do... I'm not and advance user, but I'm used to flashing ROMs, Stock ROMs, trying recoverys etc. always had an Android phone and I always unlock the bootloader, flash new rom and blah blah... so, here's my problem T^T
A week ago I buy a Samsung S4 GT i9500... not 'casuse I'm a fan of Samsung, but 'cause the price was great (at least in my Country)... The glas was cracked, but the touch was ok, the only thing broken was the front camera, but hey... I'll never used it
So the phone was able to connect to all the 3 carriers in my country (Argentina) Personal - Movistar - Claro. So I started with a Custom Recovery... everything OK
I always used the CyanogenMOD roms, so I downloaded the last one for my phone... but was kinda buggy... so I started to look for another options, I downloaded MIUI (official) but was too chinese for my taste, I mean, no Play Store, half of the phone options was in chinese, so... I moved on... the last one was Thunder Universe V6... was ok, nice skins, fast... stable... but the battery was the problem, almost 1% per minute, with power save activated so... I decided to go back to Stock ROM or Firmware... but I couldn't find one for my country or the links were dead...
So I finally found this one (I don't know if I can post a link to another forum so I will post the specs only):
Model: GT-I9500
Model name: GALAXY S4
Country: Argentina
Version: Android 4.4.2
Changelist: 2735569
Build date: Tue, 09 Sep 2014 11:17:09 +0000
Product Code: ANC
PDA: I9500UBUGNI1
CSC: I9500ANCGNI1
MODEM: I9500UBUGNI1
Flashed with Odin, no errors, everything went ok... but after all the update, all my apps I realize that I have signal bars, but no carrier connection... only "Emergency Calls Only"
I started to read, and try a couple of things, but no luck... if I change the modem/radio/baseband I got the "unknown baseband" "uknown IMEI" thing... I flashed the phone to the previous roms, Cyano and Thunder but the problem remains...
I don't know what else to do :s and send my phone to someone for fixing it is very expensive, more than half the price of a new phone :s so if there is something I could try to fix it myself, will be amazing...
If u need more data, or whatever just ask, and i will do it, and post the result...
thanks in advance and sorry for my crappy eng >.<

Hi mate ,
Try flashing a stock rom and see if it helps.....but to me it looks like the EFS folder is broken , do you have an EFS folder back up? if not you may have to take the phone to a local service center ( samsung or not) and have the imei fix, you need a box like Z3X or similar to do it.

Hi! thanks for replaying! I can't find a stock rom for my country or the links are dead :s the one I downloaded (I put the specs on my previous post) seems to be an unbranded stock rom... but I don't really know, I don't have an EFS folder back up >.< I know... my bad here :s I read about the z3x box or the octopus one, but I was hoping for another problem more easy to fix :s there is a way to be sure that is the EFS folder? like 100%? there is nothing more I can do or try? :c
Thanx again!

Hi ,
the stock rom you flashed should been fine ( check here for stock rom for your country http://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/database/GT-I9500/PSN/ ) , if that did not help can it only be two things hardware ( like the sim caddy) or the EFS folder....there is no way to know without one of those boxes....
The repair should run around 25 usd........

[T Mobile] Signal is cutting out, someone suggested updating bootloader / radio? How?

I have an S5 from T-Mobile, it is several months old. It is currently using Cyanogenmod 12.1 Nightly from July 4.
I updated to the October 21 Nightly a few days ago, and started seeing an issue, where the mobile signal cuts out after a while (usually after I wake up the phone after a long time of inactivity, such as sleeping). I will see a mobile signal, but there is an exclamation point next to it. LTE data won't work. MMS won't work. I don't know if SMS or Phone Calls will work, but I suspect not.
I asked on Reddit, and someone suggested that my phone might need a Bootloader / Radio update? Someone made the following suggestion:
"Many Samsung devices require a bootloader/radio update to run the latest CyanogenMod versions. You need to make sure it is both the bootloader and radio, becasue many update packages will do one or the other. You can find the flashable zips on the xda forums. "
In the mean time, I have downgraded back to an old July 4 Nightly, but it looks like the problem is now persisting. So, finding a solution is now more urgent.
Does anyone know how to update the Bootloader / Radio for my T-Mobile S5? Directions / Links would be helpful... :-s Kinda newb at this.
Or, if you could recommend a ROM that you prefer over CM, that would be welcome info as well. I do like CM, but you know what they say, the grass is always greener. Plus, I think everyone here likes to tinker.
Device Model: SM-G900T
CM Version: 12.1-20150704-NIGHTLY-klte
Android Version: 5.1.1
Baseband Versioin: G900TUVU1DOB1
