I accidentally remove the built in accuwether apk from the SHOStock rom I am running while attempting to get a working transparent version installed. I pulled the attached APKs from the Hyperdrive rom but they won't install, does anyone know how to get these working?

Does anyone know where i would put the APK and odex files in a Captivate to get this working?
you would need to put them in /system/app which requires root. that should work if you're running stock rooted. if you're running a deodexed system then you'll need a deodexed .apk or it will start rebooting.
Hello,
I have the new Honeycomb dialer apk and I was under the impression if you just placed the new dialer apk in the systems/app folder of the rooted android device it would change to the new apk on reboot.
Well, I have placed the apk in systems/app, deleted the old apk and rebooted and no change. What is interesting is I have opened the new Honeycomb dialer apk in Super Manager and tried to install and I keep getting the error "Application not installed".
What am I doing wrong?
Just as a note, I have installed the new Honeycomb music player with no problems. My phone is an EU HD2 and I am on a custom Gingerbread ROM.
Thank you in advance for any help.
Are you talking about a literal Honeycomb (Android 3.0) dialer application, or just a themed dialer from a different version? If you have an actual Honeycomb apk please post it or link to it; I was unaware one existed at this point, seeing as the OS is only for tablets so far.
In reference to your question, apps generally need to get installed as opposed to just copied/pasted into system folders. Either try installing it via something that calls the app installer process (browse to the apk in ASTRO File Manager for example) or try manually installing it via adb. If adb fails then it's probable that it simply can't be installed on your device or ROM.
Hope that helps.
I'm working on an MIUI Rom and I want to edit the framework-res.apk; I decompiled the apk using apktool and then I rebuilt after changing the default lockscreen and default wallpaper; I then signed the apk using the autosigner from Stericson and it signed successfully; after repacking the rom and installing I successfully installed my signed rom, but afterwards my bootloader just went into a loop; my only thought of what could be wrong is when I changed the framework-res.apk; does anyone know if you have to do anything more then rebuild and sign? Sorry for the nub question, but I've been trying to get it to work to no avail and I don't really know what else to do at this point, but ask someone else for their input. Thanks.
Not sure if I'm able to do this but I really like the stock weather widget on the T-Mobile LG G2. It's a customized version of the accuweather widget with animations. I have the apk and odex files which i copied to system\apps and gave all three groups read permission, rebooted and still can't seems to see it in the list. When I try to select/install the apk in file browser, it fails to install.
After thinking about it, i'm even wondering if it's possible to take a stock apk and transfer/install it on another phone entirely.
I'm running stock ROM on 4.4.2 KOT49H
I've tried to flash the LG weather widget APK for the stripped down stock rom I'm on (lollipop), but it won't let me install the APK. I've been able to install the other APKs I wanted, but for whatever reason this one won't install. Is there something beside the Weather APK needed to install it?
