Hello all.
I just bought my Samsung Galaxy s5 and I've been spending some time customizing it, but there is one thing that is driving me nuts and its this gross teal that the system seems to have global. I was wondering if it can be edited in the system files (my phone has been rooted and I have full access).
Any point in the right direction would be greatly appreciated.
For those of you who are not sure what I am talking about, here is some pictures.

You have to decompile SystemUi.apk. there are many guides on how to do it but i recommend tickle my android (search for it). After that you can easily changes the images in the rez/drawable folders and most of the colors can be changed by altering the hex values in the xml files located in the res/values files. After, just recompile it again and push to your phone. Hope that helps a little. Would add more but I'm on mobile now and is a little pain to type.

you're confusing elitism with common sense. but then your spouting memes on a developers forums
Mod Edit – Some content removed
No I didn't fail. In fact i actually pointed that the UI and Framework are the same thing. Touchwiz is a amalgamation of the launcher and other UI elements. in fact the UI elements that aren't in the launcher and individual apps themselves are contained in the /system/framework/framework-res.apk. The teal parts. therefore are both the UI and the framework as they are one and the same. the first part of my first post was pointing this out. That was intended as a mostly tongue in cheek manner of doing things. Explained here
The next part about quoting the OP when you're the second post in the thread i maintain as being redundant. and it annoys a lot of people not to mention the moderators (i can tell you this from personal experience). I wasn't rude when i explained it. i just explained it. and yes yes i know its not a rule. its more common knowledge and courtesy. especially in those instances where the OP is long or contains many images. but most of all when you are the first reply in a thread its obvious what you are replying to. if the thread has many replies then yes its better to quote the post you're replying to.
by the way you might want to note the sheer stupidity of berating my ability to be nice. And in the same post telling me im talking out my ass. which as you can see above im not, and mocking spelling errors, when its clearly a typo brought about by absent mindedness in my keyboard accuracy. it was still understandable and correcting an obvious error shows you have no actual grievance with me apart from the fact i pointed out that you use memes like doge and the need to nit-pick.

Porting is a huge undertaking. Slowly remaking it on TouchWiz would be easier. We would do this one step at a time and release updates. But we definitely need help! Anyone with knowledge willing to help is welcome!
Good luck on the project, I am sure there will be people that love the idea, just looks too much like an iphone for me.
Anything graphic design related, I'm in.
Anyone know XML editing to hopefully get this or a similar look in stock settings??
Well, I guess that's one way to make iWiz even more of an iPhone KIRF.

Ok I am in but in ONE condition, I can do XML editing but I am not spending time on what they have edited and how. If the MIUI team give their sources on what they have edited to you then im definatley in.
MIUI is fully opensource. I think the biggest roadblock is that the UI was created through java rather than xml.
Personally, I'm not BAD with XML, but honestly, it might not be really helpful.
I'm not known, I'm sure, in the Captivate forums. But I am jellette/Heathen of the Einherjar Dev Team over in the Vibrant forums. I and other members of EDT would be interested in taking part in this project.

That'd be really difficult to find out, their UI is radically different. I have been searching XML files for a while and found nothing really, sorry!
I know while most people are happy with the black themed Settings Menu, I was wondering if anyone has any idea how to make them white like the pre-production models.
For one, I am tired of the 'black crush' and secondly, I want them to match the Contacts, Dialer and MMS apps.
Thanks!
I would also like to have the white background. I actually like the looks of it.

I'd like to find out to.
Although time consuming, if you have some photo editing software (gimp is free and will work) and you know how to decompile and recompile apks...than its a simple theme.
Decompile
Open every image in photo editor
Invert colors
Recompile
Enjoy
-although there are hundreds of images to go through...hence the time consuming part...also the .9.pngs require a little more work as those are special and normal edits will ruin then. .9.pngs are basically stretchable images, how they stretch are determined by black 1 pixel lines...if those are tampered with the image won't stretch causing issues with a lot of menus and boxes.
Although, I believe there is a batch image themer tool here on xda...maybe that could help
Anyways...once we get the bootloader unlocked there will be tons of themers and devs out there and this will more than likely be released

Even then not hard...time consuming but not hard - just gotta change the values... FFFFFF=WHITE
I'm not saying theming is easy...but this kind of theming where your just reversing/changing colors is easy...anybody can do it
Real theming on the other hand...now that's hard...creating new icons, New styles etc
Anyways I'm speaking from experience as I have themed for my self in the past...and there's plenty of info on getting started here on xda if you guys are interested - anybody that does this kind of theming still deserves a lot of credit as it is extremely time consuming and not something most people would want to spend hours on - please note I'm not trying to put this theming down or talk bad about it...just saying that if people want its not to hard for then to learn how to do it

So what do you guys think of iOS 7 - especially in comparison with Samsung and android itself.
It features quite a few things that Samsung and Google had already incorporated:
Samsung (AirDrop/S Sharing features, toggles (before 4.2) etc. let me know if any more)
Google (Flat design, live wallpapers a functional Notification Centre, Self-clearing notifications, proper multitasking etc. let me know if any more)
The way I see it, it is Apple playing a huge catch-up card and I thing it will really benefit the industry - Google are really gonna have to make some good innovations to stop consumers from being wowed by a fresh look that we've been enjoying for a while.
Do you think Samsung will take design cues from Apple again in terms of OS (come on, there were a lot of similarities)? Or do you think they'll stick with what they have? I personally hope they move towards stock Android in design - Holo etc.
And more controversially! iOS 7 or Stock Android with TouchWiz??
And this is related to the GS3, how exactly?
iOS 7 looks better than its predecessors, but it's still crap and that will never change. They've taken the stinky old turd known as iOS 6, polished it a bit, gave it a makeover, but underneath it's still a stinky turd and they've defiled Android by using many Android features and acting like they invented them.

It's related in three ways:
1. iOS7 is used on its direct competitors and so it's important to consider comparisons of software available on both
2. It's going to be interesting to see how iOS 7 runs on the 4S (as they are v.similar products) compared to 4.2.2 (or later) on the GS3
3. Some of these features were made reasonably mainstream by GS3 - e.g. wifi direct
EDIT: at least that's how I see it...
There are forums for Android as a platform I'm sure it'd be more relevant for

Presenting some pattern lock mods that use vehicles from Star Wars to make your phone look...well...awesome!
If you want to use these, you can do so in four separate ways:
If you know how to decompile files (if you don't, you really should), download the icons you want by selecting one of the '?_Pattern_Lock_Icons.zip' files and add them to the appropriate 'drawable-?dpi' folder in your 'framework-res.apk'.
Or, if you don't like decompiling files yourself and you're on Android 4.1 or above, try flashing one of the '?_PatternLock_Flashable_JB.zip' files. Because of the way that Android works, I can't guarantee that this will work on your particular setup. If it works for you, your existing 'framework-res.apk' will have these icons added to it, so any other mods you may have done won't be touched. And if you flash in CWM, you'll even get a flashable backup automatically made for you!
Or, if the above two options aren't working for you, you can make the changes with ZipThemer. Just install the ZipThemer app, which you can find on Google Play, download the '?_PatternLock_ZipThemer.zip' file you want and use it.
What if you're one of those amazing, clever, innovative and incredibly good-looking people who use 'Tickle My Android', you can add these icons to your current selection. Just download 'Star Wars Pattern Lock TMA Icons.zip', extract it in 'user_files\ICONS\PATTERNLOCK\' and run the tool as normal. TMA will automatically add the icons to the list you can choose from.
And this is what they look like. Be aware, these images might be a bit large but they need to be to show off the icons properly.
Jedi Star Fighter
Naboo Star Fighter
Slave 1
Tie Fighter
X-Wing
Y-Wing
Enjoy!

It has been a long time! Strange coincidence though...I finally saw Rogue One yesterday and you posted while I was watching a video about Star Wars fan theories on YouTube.. Maybe this is going to be a Star Wars week? lol
Anyway I'm afraid I haven't done anything with your request. The problem is that there are no decent images for the TIE Phantom anywhere. There's plenty of fanart but for this mod you really need an icon - the ship would be facing the right way and it'd be surrounded by a lot of transparent space. Icons are what I used for the other mods in this thread.
It's possibly because it's not a canon ship I guess. There doesn't seem to be any suitable files for the TIE Striker yet but that might take time. The TIE Defender seems to be a canon craft now so somebody might do something for that eventually.
The trouble is that I'm no artist - there's no way I have the skills to make the right sort of image myself. Maybe if somebody's reading this, is skilled with Photoshop and feels like a challenge...?
Unfortunately it wasn't long after I posted this that Sony changed things and stopped using image files for the pattern lock. Instead it's all rendered by smali now. So this mod sadly never went any further.
And my 2017 is pretty sucky at the moment but I'm sure it'll get better. After all I'm bound to win the lottery sooner or later!
Sadly development is stopped by @raffaele88 and as there also was some problems on latest build I'll stop this project at this point.
U always can modify the navbar by urself.
For this u only need the 'Android multitool' and from the specific Rom the 'framework-res.apk' and 'SystemUI.apk'.
After installing the Framework in the tool and decompile the SystemUI u can see all files in the subfolder named "decompiled apk" then u can open the 'SystemUI>res>layout>navigation_bar.xml' (with a text editor) and just switch the lines which showing the buttons to the order u want.
After saving the file going back to the multitool and compile the SystemUI folder in which u changed the xml.
Now u have the new modded SystemUI in 'compiled apk' folder and can copy it to the correct path and reboot or u just create a flashable zip.
For a more specific explaining look in @pandza88 thread here.
Thanks for all support here and have a happy flashing.
