I know while most people are happy with the black themed Settings Menu, I was wondering if anyone has any idea how to make them white like the pre-production models.
For one, I am tired of the 'black crush' and secondly, I want them to match the Contacts, Dialer and MMS apps.
Thanks!
I would also like to have the white background. I actually like the looks of it.

Me too. Hopefully one of the better developers here can figure it out.

I'd like to find out to.
Although time consuming, if you have some photo editing software (gimp is free and will work) and you know how to decompile and recompile apks...than its a simple theme.
Decompile
Open every image in photo editor
Invert colors
Recompile
Enjoy
-although there are hundreds of images to go through...hence the time consuming part...also the .9.pngs require a little more work as those are special and normal edits will ruin then. .9.pngs are basically stretchable images, how they stretch are determined by black 1 pixel lines...if those are tampered with the image won't stretch causing issues with a lot of menus and boxes.
Although, I believe there is a batch image themer tool here on xda...maybe that could help
Anyways...once we get the bootloader unlocked there will be tons of themers and devs out there and this will more than likely be released

It's almost entirely xml edits, not image pngs that need to be changed. I'm probably going to do it myself, since I also don't like the black background, but I just finished inverting the pulldown, so I'm taking a break =)

Even then not hard...time consuming but not hard - just gotta change the values... FFFFFF=WHITE
I'm not saying theming is easy...but this kind of theming where your just reversing/changing colors is easy...anybody can do it
Real theming on the other hand...now that's hard...creating new icons, New styles etc
Anyways I'm speaking from experience as I have themed for my self in the past...and there's plenty of info on getting started here on xda if you guys are interested - anybody that does this kind of theming still deserves a lot of credit as it is extremely time consuming and not something most people would want to spend hours on - please note I'm not trying to put this theming down or talk bad about it...just saying that if people want its not to hard for then to learn how to do it

I wanted to make a little thread, to let everyone know what I have done to my XPlay, if anyone really cares, lol.
Obviously, first thing I did was unlock the bootloader and root it
Titanium Back-up Pro is my best friend, I removed LOADS of bloatware and all the crap I didn't need. Lovely.
SD Maid Pro helps to keep everything in check and my system and apps clean and tidy.
Now to the fun, that has got to me where I am today...
I made my own UOT theme, which can be found HERE.
I then started adding some of the Xperia S apps from THIS THREAD. Some worked, some didn't, so I have ended up with the new conversations app, contacts app, and dialer that look great, I also started using the Home.apk from that thread, but wasn't too keen on it, so found THIS THREAD where the Home.apk files work great, with all the new tweeks, so I have 3 home screens, 5x4 icons in the app tray and fading home screen indicators.
Only problem with the new Home.apk was because the Xperia S has a higher res than the XPlay, the text looked wrong, so just messing around I used Font Changer (from the market) and added the old skool Playstation font, called Zrnic.ttf and now it looks GREAT!!
Of course, I am using some other app's too, like Fancy Widgets for my clock and weather, the Type & Send widget, and Widgetsoid for every kind of switcher I could want. Went thru loads of calendar app's to find one I liked, and ended up using Simple Calendar with a nice 4x3 widget.
In addition to this, I have flashed the old CRT lock screen animation from HERE, Bravia Engine, and Reboot options in my theme from AdamTt (find the mod HERE)
Now to the OS, I'm on 2.3.4 with .62 firmware, running DooMKernel V11 and I am finding it great!!
Well, I think that's it to be honest, So this is where I leave u, lol.
If anyone whats any more info about anything in this thread please feel free to ask, before I got my XPlay I had NEVER used an Android phone, and now I wouldn't be without it. And I think I have learnt a lot and that is all down to the people of XDA forums, so I give a MASSIVE thank u to everyone who has answered my stupid n00b questions over the last few months. I wish I could list everyone who has helped me, but there are far too many to remember but the few I do are:
DooMLoRD - For everything he has done for me, and the whole XPlay community with his kernels.
cyrusalmighty - For all the help with the lock screen on my theme.
vr5411 - For the amazing work on the Xperia S Home.apk files.
AdamTt - For the Reboot options that work on many devices
AndroHero & Cat_On_Droid - For just always helping a n00b, with REALLY stupid questions, to find the answers.
And many thanx to anyone else who I have forgotten to add.

Strange question marks. It happens too when I recieve long sms while my phone is in landscape mode. I see some words on the status bar but then there is big area with these "??" and nothing else. It's strange because i have no problems with standard font. How can I get rid of that problem?

Basically that is to do with the actual font, some characters may not be supported, so where as a "normal" font just puts a [] shape, zrnic puts a big ? lol, I have also found a symbol that looks like a massive copyright info panel, lol, I'm afraid there is nothing that can be done about it, seeing as it is just built into the font and not to do with Font Changer or anything I have done.
Hope this has helped.

Nope... the cm devz kept what was blue blue and what was yellow yellow.. not saying they're lazy but they didn't theme it... I guess its based on cyanogens framework so. Ya get what get just extract the frameworks contents and look through the drawble-hdpi and you'll find a bunch of yellow selections.

Dammit!!Getting frustrated here -.-. I cant find it. I even changed the one that said "highlight_pressed" and nothing. maybe because when I save as and then put the .9.png's im putting a bunch of .9.png's and not just one. could this be it? I doubt it.
I did like half of what I was trying to do. The highlight works in xda app. But I want to change the blue from when ur in home the press menu then"select" system setting. Can't get it >:/

The framework is because Google is lazy. Most of the images you'll want to edit are in SystemUI.apk, but there are still a couple hundred images from framework-res that are still used. Fwiw, I'd theme everything. Never know nowadays if an image in a framework is used or not lol.

Almost everyone has heard the news about the passing of one of our GREATS! Diablo67 :crying:
Well I have spearheaded the resurrection of one of his unfinished projects. Most of our users that have been around for awhile will remember his 4Korners Rom. Well a few months ago he hit me up about starting what he called his ultimate 4Korners. He wanted to give the rom a complete make over. Leaving the sense gingerbread base behind and going to something more modern aka ics/jellybean. While talking with him we bounced some thoughts around and his main goals was to make it stable, fully functional, and unlike anything else for the Og or any phone. So we came up with using cyanmobile as a base. Since it is gingerbread feature of the phone will work (ffc, wimax, hdmi out) everything. He also wanted to create a custom theme to use as the default for the rom, since this is a cm7ish type rom a theme manager theme was what he wanted. That way if users did not want his theme they were not stuck with it (always thinking about others).
So far I have contacted Shag and Vin two of our (Og evo) current devs to make this happen. After an hour or so Shag has already got the launcher up and running on CyanMobile. This guy is kicking butt and making things happen. Reminds me of diablo who would start an update or rom and a few hours later turn out a complete rom rock solid and looking cool. I can see him now looking at all this and see the smile on his face. The community here has turned out and showed they really care.
So keep your eyes open for a new rom in development.
Just a teaser of the launcher with no theme yet.

hi
since some days i'm digging into decompiled apk's of sense 6 and found out how "scenes" work.
htc sense 6 introduced "scenes" containing a wallpaper and 4 color tones (actually it's more than 4 i found out).
i'm facing problems with some apk's i need to compile to get it working (got it partially working already).
looking for: a skilled and motivated xposed module developer to make it happen via xposed framework.
goal: have ability to change one scene's color codes on the fly or add a custom theme if possible.
please reply in this thread or send me a pm if you're intrested.
@ moderators: please don't delete this thread since it will be used for the release if it is successful.
feel free to move this thread to "Xposed Framework Modules" forum.
here a little teaser to show progress from my side:

I'd be interested in this.
I don't have the m7, but I've been programming in java for several years now and have made some xposed modules too. Hit me up via PM.
I hope this is going to happen insert coins way of doing this is good but an xposed module that works with every Rom would be awesome. Do you think it's also possible to change the volume sliders color?

alot could be possible and yes it would be rom-independent (if there are no major ui mods cooked in).
it all depends on me finding a great programmer to do the actual work.
sadly, voluntary skilled programmers are a rare breed no matter the operating system or device.

Or... you could learn youself? Xposed ain't that hard to use with java, plus its certainly a lot easier than smali
Workflow for this through Xposed would be something like:
-> Hook methods for scenes/colours
-> Create a MainActivity for your app with whatever UI you want behind it (eg, preferences/preferencescreen, listview etc - probably preferences is easier since it allows a hassle free way to interface with SharedPreferences and store the chosen colours so the app remembers the colour chosen)
-> Say the user clicks on changing the colour for blinkfeed, this opens a Dialog Box with a load of RadioButtons for each different colour.
-> User clicks colour, dialog box dissapears and colour is written to sharedPreferences then you also write the colour back into the hooked method
And to finish:
-> User reboots phone & Xposed does its magic
Hey buddy!!
Xposed modding isn't terrible (if you have basic knowledge of Java- I'm a student and caught on pretty quickly to how it works)...
If I were you, I would learn some Java/Xposed modding and create this yourself. That way you could create what YOU have in mind without anything you don't want, yknow?
If you need any help, I'm sure there are resources and people willing to aid you, however not many would make this mod for you solely because you asked.

I just bought my Samsung Galaxy s5 and I've been spending some time customizing it, but there is one thing that is driving me nuts and its this gross teal that the system seems to have global. I was wondering if it can be edited in the system files (my phone has been rooted and I have full access).
Any point in the right direction would be greatly appreciated.

I think by myself..."why Samsung?" I by you're phones, and you gives us this s**t to look at?
but ofcource you can make changes, but the S5 is one off this devices that says "NO ERRORS OR I LET YOU CRY"
This Is how mine looks like.
Guess all starts and end with personal taste.
tip for start:
go to [Guides & Links] THE GALAXY S5 UNIFIED MODS THREAD
from tdunham This awsome super smart dev has saved me lot off times with his how to's.
and after going to that post you are already half done with fighting ugly look of device.

You have to decompile SystemUi.apk. there are many guides on how to do it but i recommend tickle my android (search for it). After that you can easily changes the images in the rez/drawable folders and most of the colors can be changed by altering the hex values in the xml files located in the res/values files. After, just recompile it again and push to your phone. Hope that helps a little. Would add more but I'm on mobile now and is a little pain to type.

you're confusing elitism with common sense. but then your spouting memes on a developers forums
Mod Edit – Some content removed
No I didn't fail. In fact i actually pointed that the UI and Framework are the same thing. Touchwiz is a amalgamation of the launcher and other UI elements. in fact the UI elements that aren't in the launcher and individual apps themselves are contained in the /system/framework/framework-res.apk. The teal parts. therefore are both the UI and the framework as they are one and the same. the first part of my first post was pointing this out. That was intended as a mostly tongue in cheek manner of doing things. Explained here
The next part about quoting the OP when you're the second post in the thread i maintain as being redundant. and it annoys a lot of people not to mention the moderators (i can tell you this from personal experience). I wasn't rude when i explained it. i just explained it. and yes yes i know its not a rule. its more common knowledge and courtesy. especially in those instances where the OP is long or contains many images. but most of all when you are the first reply in a thread its obvious what you are replying to. if the thread has many replies then yes its better to quote the post you're replying to.
by the way you might want to note the sheer stupidity of berating my ability to be nice. And in the same post telling me im talking out my ass. which as you can see above im not, and mocking spelling errors, when its clearly a typo brought about by absent mindedness in my keyboard accuracy. it was still understandable and correcting an obvious error shows you have no actual grievance with me apart from the fact i pointed out that you use memes like doge and the need to nit-pick.
