I have acquired a couple different batteries now for the Epic. One is the 2800mAh battery that we have read about here on the forums, another is a supposed 3500mAh battery a friend got me which was designed for the Galaxy S but works fine in the Epic.
My question is this - when I wipe the stats and calibrate a battery, are those stats stored somewhere on the phone or the battery itself? If I calibrate one kind of battery and then swap a different kind in, does that one need to be recalibrated if it has already been calibrated? I would hate to do this each time I switch out the 2800mAh to the 3500mAh (or even the 1500mAh that came with the phone).
Thanks!
Wow a 3500 do you have a different backing to keep that in?
I have a 3500 on the way. It has a different back, hopefully not too gigantic. Only cost 19 dollars shipped. Very excited.

Unfortunately it doesn't fit the Epic. The camera on the i9000 is located in a different spot and some of the buttons don't seem to line up, so the door doesn't work on the Epic. I'm OK with that since it was a gift. I'd recommend getting ones designed for the Epic so you don't have to duct tape/velcro the thing together. lol
Still curious to know if the calibration is more of an internal thing for the phone or not. Do those stats reside on the phone somewhere, or in the battery? I would hate to be resetting an internal phone calibration by switching batteries constantly. Oh well. I got 51 hours and 45 minutes with medium usage this weekend, so fine tuning it might not really be an issue.
Have you ever found an answer to your question?
I am almost certain that stats are recorded and kept on the phone.
On the other hand, it should be possible to switch between battery stats, depending on what battery you decide to use. Perhaps the battery transmits a serial number which the phone can associate to certain stats, and keeps different stats for different batteries.
I would be very interested to know an answer to this also. I have a 3000mah battery and the standard one. I put the standard one in and used 50% of it in about 15 minutes use this morning... This can't be right...
Yes, some feedback on this would be great. I have 2 stock batteries and the external charger. I was wondering if I need to wipe stats every time I swap batteries and if I am actually hurting myself by switching batteries since its recommended to let battery settle after calibrating for a day or two.
Sent from my SPH-D700 using XDA Premium App
I THINK you only need to calibrate once after you flash a new rom. changing batteries shouldn't matter. ie: if you calibrate with a 1500mah battery then switch to a 3500mah battery, another calibration is not needed. but if you flash a new rom, calibration is recommended.
i was also looking for an answer to this.
in case people are still looking for a solution for this, there is an app called Mugen Root, it will maintain different batterystats for different batteries, you can check it out here http://j.mp/vxUvvj
Recently bought this S4,model I9515,brand new and sim free. When I first turned it on it was on 4.4.2 official kitkat which is also the latest.I’ve rooted it and deleted a lot of samsung crap.Been using it for a few days now,and I noticed that the battery is draining to fast.I attached some pictures so that anybody can tell me if this battery life is ok and Im just being wrong or not.
running up to fast or ?
well with 4 h in screen this seems pretty normal. i get a maximum of 3...
so since i updated my galaxy to to polnish version of 5.0.1 i feel like something is drinking up my battery, i dont have an enormous amount of applications. to describe how tragic is the situation is like if i touch it for some minutes writing some text in facebook mesenger i get a loss of 10% in 20 minutes, even if i dont touch at all my device after 8 hours for example it comes with a loss of 25% in battery. could it be a problem that i charge the phone with an 1000mah charger the problem (i dont have the original cable and charger)? i have already tried to reflash the rom with cleaning everything. i will try to post some real data screenshots from the battery app next days here...

Just don't care about how many mah the apps will tell you, the battery is charging anyway. I have a 3100 battery and battery monitor widget tell me 2100, but the phone stays longer than the 2600 battery, so I think that the battery is charging copletelly not only 2100 as the app tells me. Anyway you can change it in the setting of the widget if you want to.
hope it can help
after doing a clean install of the original lollipop rom i m getting back a lot of power. almost 5h on screen usage. Though i almost installed nothing on the handy and i disabled the most of the preinstalled applications. I m really discouraged about this, as it means that the problem is the android system itself... when i compare it with my company handy (iphone 5c) with the same applications and usage its like the half standby and 5c is far away from a up todate iphone ...
I hope we will get 5.1 as in a comparison on my nexus 7 from 5.0.1 to 5.1 it was like the double standby in hours.
I am having a problem battery
My brother, my s4, the battery is discharging very fast ,screen time is 3h , tell me a rom, the battery runs out slowly
can be any existing rom the world just want the battery to last
example
>reduce processor speed
>reduce screen quality
I use cyanogemod 13, with little battery life
It seems that my battery started dieing, i know software, wakelocks and app usages, and i get Galaxy S3 performance out of my battery, way lower then it should, tryed factory resets, different firmwares, battery to 0% then 100% on shut down phone so it can reset its self, nothing helped. I have it since november and i'm a really heavy smartphone user, some of my friends are saying its not possible to deplete the life of my battery so fast but maybe i did, now where can i buy an original battery? Im from Macedonia so i need a reliable source/shipment/store online, can anyone help me/point me to a link? Thank you in advance

Galaxy Note 4 devices come with one year limited warranty. Contact Samsung support in your country and ask for a battery replacement/exchange. It is free of charge.
Hello guys!.It's my first time here. So, I have some questions regarding this problem
I bought my S7E around july, and it had amazing battery life, It lasted around 30hours++ but I drained the battery by playing games so I can charge my phone before 5pm(my office hours) to avoid over charging when I go to bed. I even used the best perfomance that time, gps on, gestures on, etc.But still at least it lasted for 27hours.Now, it only lasts for about 12 hours something. Ive never overcharged it. The moment I saw the green led, i plugged off the charger.
Can anyone fix this? well please don't tell me to turn off all the features, I had them on and still I got to use 27hours. I dont know when I did the update, maybe os 6.0.1 is draining the battery?or any suggestion?
Thank you
Go to Settings>Battery and view the usage to see what app is using it much battery.
You can NOT overcharge the battery of your S7 Edge. I've always kept my phones on the charger over night and never had problems. I'm doing that since the HTC Magic (T-Mobile G1). It has overcharge protection. It is NOT good to drain a Lithium-Ion battery down to a few %. A Lithium-Ion battery operates the best when charged >40% and at average room temperature. Nope. I never drain my battery.I keep my battery until 20% then charge it directly. I know how to take care of Lion battery. Ive heard about the overcharging protection feature but i'm not sure whether it works.we never know whether that program runs on background or not since we cant track it.

Well, then don't charge overnight. You're problem is most likely software related anyway unless your battery is very old and/or you overstressed the battery too often which can't be because the S7 Edge isn't that old and you "...know how to take care of Lion battery". I think you meant Li-Ion but w/e. A defective battery is possible but very unlikely. BTW overcharge protection is not a program. It's a physical thing soldered onto the battery/charger PCB. Hardware. There's one built into the battery and one inside the charger and of course we can track it. You can't because you probably don't have the equipment + knowledge to test it. If you're so concerned, you should really read about it. After all, you're dealing with a highly reactive metal.

Well that's why i charge my phone at my office:crying:
i wonder if the OS is the problem. I've heard about drivers not compatible on s7 using 6.0.1 so the background data keeps working such as gear vr service. It wasnt there before. and OM Customize. So, if i overstressed my battery, it will damage my battery? I did that before to charge my phone between morning to evening.

You're hearing really weird things buddy The S7 Edge has always been running Android 6.x.x. It never ran any other Android version. The drivers are fully compatible. In fact, the drivers on a Samsung are as compatible as drivers can get, since SoC, Camera Sensor and many other parts of the phone are coming from the same manufacturer; Samsung.
My guess, and I can only guess since we'd have to see your battery stats for more detailed explanations, is that you either ran into the Android System-, or Google Play Services battery drain bug that occurs after an OTA update. These problems date back all the way back to the Galaxy S2.
I'd recommend you first flash a stock ROM using the "HOME_CSC" file. This will NOT wipe anything from your phone. Only the core system and stuff will be reinstalled. If you still have this problem, try flashing a stock firmware using the regular "CSC" file. Always make a backup first. The regular CSC file will WIPE EVERYTHING from your phone, including internal storage but it won't touch you MicroSD. Now you start with a freshly installed Android and see if it solved your problem.

Hello mate,I am sorry for my late reply since I gave up. I am trying to solve this again.
Well, can you tell me where can i get the stock firmware? I am from Indonesia(well I think some parts of the continents have different firmware).I wanted to flash it tho but I am afraid I got some "hacked" firmware.
well, the battery usage looks normal to me.
google play services around 5-15%
android OS 15-20%
android system 15-20%
but still,it drains too much>,<
Let me try to upload a pict of it.
Additional information : Slept 8 hours while listening to music and it drained from 55% to 2%.I mean this is really insane. That's why I am taking serious action now. The first time I bought it with the same settings and apps + I turned on always on display and night clock while listening to the music for 8 hours of sleeping,it only drains 10-20%.
I took this ss because I got 30hours on time : link
these are the drained ones.15Nov and 9 Dec
15Nov
9Dec
Thank you mate
First out of all. How much SOT (Screen On Time) do You get?
To check that go to battery usage at the end of the day or when You have 20% and in battery usage tap on screen and take a screenshot.
Second.
Certain firmware updates decrease battery life a little.
And third.
You can disable apps that are draining Your battery if You don't need them.
Also for a really good battery info what uses Your battery etc You can download GSAM battery monitor from play store.

well from the time being, i think my network operator is draining my battery.I tried to turn off my mobile network last night and used wifi instead.I lost 1% for 8 hours.Well, I changed my network operator around october and since then I felt the battery drain. I already sent report to the provider hope they solve it.
But I wonder, my network operator has good 4g coverage here, why does it drain too much? My old operator had only 3g coverage. Is there any way for me to track down my operator whether they are using too much battery to search network coverage maybe?
Newest firmware always decrease battery life a little
Hi all!
I have been getting bad battery performance on my axon 7 for as long as I can remember but didn't really want to try custom rom because I'm afraid it will void warranty. SOT reported with GSam is 2h30m. Fast forward the phone was water damaged and fixed locally so my warranty is voided anyway. So I think it's time for me to try out custom rom.
My main concern is battery life then functionality. Any recommendation for rom & kernel would be much appreciated! Thank you very much!

You might have to replace your battery . I did mine myself in about a half an hour . Batteries are cheap and the fix is relatively easy.

Guy above is right. But I'd like you to try something. Before changing it, use Accubattery to see how much capacity your battery had. After 2 charges you'll have a pretty good idea of how utterly destroyed it is. I managed to get 7 hours of SOT when the phone had about a month of use, now I'm getting 4:30. My battery says 2400 mAh.
Also, there's a bigger battery going around, a Losoncoer 3650 mAh battery. It's reportedly the same size and all. If you happen to try it out, let me know. I want to change the battery and i still haven't decided whether to buy one of those or an original one.
For comparison, the original one is 3140 mAh

you don't if you don't want to, and how would you not see the improvement after basically doubling (or more) the battery capacity?
Maybe you'll need to download a battery calibration app, those basically delete the calibration file and the phone should generate a new one

I bought my phone used in January. I was told it was a little over a year old . It was immediately obvious to me that the battery had issues and I had no insight into the charging history . Accubattery pro told me the capacity was just over 1800 mAh or 58%. I just rebooted after the install of the new battery and now it's it's back where it should be and working great.

Lol what. Accubattery is just to get the capacity estimate. After using it you should just decide whether to change the battery or not.
My battery is at 1700 mAh or 55%. I guess I'm replacing my battery first then. Is there any advice as to slow down battery deterioration process?
Edit: back to the custom rom question, does it make much of difference on battery life over stock?

Yes to both. First, charge the phone only up to 80% or so. that will prolong the battery lifespan about 3 times. There's a mod that can be installed via Magisk, that automatically stops charging when it arrives to a given percentage, then starts charging after it uses a couple percent.
And custom ROMs can be much better in the battery life department, but not always. In my case I get about 4.5h SOT on stock and 5.5H on Oreo AEX
(My battery seems to have 2400 mAh, also want to change it, but I have completely decent SOT)
P.S. Please do tell me if you buy a 3650 mAh battery. I'm thinking on buying one of those. They say that they are the same size than the original ones. plus they are not that much more expensive

What rom are you use right now? I get about 3.5 to 4 SOT on stock. Considering to flash AEX, but I not sure it worst it - stock rom have pretty good camera, spearker, "google now on tap" which is very important to me (google assistant hater)
The 3650 mAh is completely fake. I think it is impossible to place a bigger battery in the same space in the machine
