I have an S5 which I use Tasker to recognize the phone being flipped face down to turn off the ringer, etc. I know there are other apps to do this, but since I use Tasker for other stuff I was hoping to continue. But, when the phone goes to sleep, it appears that Tasker can not recognize the phone being flipped. If I press the power button and flip, everything works fine, but not when the phone is asleep. Is there a setting I am missing to properly handle this? Any help is appreciated. BTW, the phone is rooted via Towelroot but running stock OS.

is there an exe taht turns the screen on and off? and couldn't i just bind that to my camera button?
i did search..
thanks
You may be able to turn the screen off programatically, but how exactly would you expect to turn it on?
Of course, binding that to a button that actually works could do the trick. I think there a few freeware programs out there that allow you to change the bindings of the buttons (sry, can't remember a name, but if you google it you should be able to find one in no time).
On the other hand, phone off disables all buttons except the on/off button, so that might not work either.
i'm downloading vito button mapper now.
getting the screen to come back on was also my main concern. the only way i get it to come on now is by plugging it into the computer or resetting it. I don't always have a usb cable and a computer on hand, nor do i want to wait 5 min for my touch to restart to make a simple phone call.
any help would be GREATLY appreciated.. leaving for a trip in like an hour so i'd like to get this done..
I'm using Button Savior, which works great. However the only way to wake the phone from sleep is to plug it in. My new method is to call myself with Skype which also works ok but I want something better. I was thinking of something like shake to unlock. My volume buttons also don't work so I can't use apps that wake the phone with those. I'm talking about Android BTW.
Bump, hopeless but still
hi all
like many others iv put my nexus 7 into the dash of my car. i was wondering if there is an app or way for my nexus to turn itself off when i turn the car off. iv figured out how to make the device turn on when power is restored to the device but still not sure how to turn the device off.
also would anyone know why when the nexus turns on, it immediately mutes itself? it is connected via 3.5mm jack 100% of the time and tasker opens up power amp but other then that i don't know what might be causing it. any help is appreciated on both issues
cheers

If you have tasker installed, create a state which is dependant on battery power - as an exit task tell the tablet to wait for 10 seconds, then call the misc->reboot action with type shutdown to turn the tablet off. The wait 10 seconds it to prevent it powering off when you are cranking the car...
If you just want to turn the screen off, not power the whole tablet down, there's a tasker action Display->System Lock which will turn the screen off..
You could also use tasker to change the system volume for you if you needed as a workaround...
*edit* - BTW - the tasker reboot options don't gracefully reboot / shutdown, so if you have apps running, there's a chance that you may lose data. To do a 'graceful' reboot / shutdown, you are better off using the secure setting plugin...
Long clicking the button on my headset no longer activates S Voice when in sleep mode. I've tried everything I can to solve the issue, but no joy. I bought a replacement headset in case that was the issue, but still the same. I've installed the Headset Button Controller app and tried the setting 'Prevent sleep mode', still the same. When I use the debug mode in HBC advanced settings, it detects all button presses apart from long click. It did work, but then just suddenly stopped. The phone is only about a month old, but I don't want to have to try and get a replacement. I'm just hoping that there's people far cleverer than me that might have some idea I can try and to fix this. Can anyone suggest anything? Thanks.
Hi,
I would like to ask a pro users whether it is possible to prevent the display of my phone from turning on/off when the phone is ringing or hang up.
I don't need to observe a call information at all (If I need to I can use a power button to turn on the display) I'm using a wired headset to pick/hang up the phone.
Tried all sensor based solutions, they only add complexity or simply don't work, really tired of them.
My device is rooted.
Any help would be really appreciated.
Sorry for my English.
