I have a rooted D801 with the latest stock ROM and G2 Xposed. Until recently knock on and knock off worked great. But I must have done something wrong because I can't knock off anymore, ever. It went from working every time to never working. All I recall doing was installing the latest Xdabbeb camera and drivers and messing around in the hidden menus.
I've searched and searched but found only the other way around, where knock off works but knock on doesn't. What could have caused Knock Off to quit working? Any help is much appreciated.

Open dialer and type:
3845#*801# (T-Mobile)
When the hidden menu opens up, goto settings > update touch firmware.
Touch wont be working for about 5/10 seconds, after it's working again, close the menu and try if your problem is solved.

Here is what I have tried so far. I have recalibrated the motion sensor in settings. I have updated the touch sensor. I have performed a partial test in the hidden menu that recalibrated the prox sensor. And I installed a monitoring app so I can see that the prox sensor works perfectly.
This all happened around the time that I installed the v5.0 Xdabbeb camera, which now includes flashing a binary with settings. Knock On has always been a little iffy and it got worse. That's when I recalibrated the prox sensor, which is now perfect and Knock On is now solid. Figured Knock Off would be simple to fix so I paid little attention to when exactly it quit working. Might have nothing to do with the camera.
The other thing I have realized is that Knock On quits working after it sleeps a long time. I have to wake it with the power button and then it works perfectly again.
BTW,I did do a Nandroid backup before flashing. Next step is to create a new one, then go back and see if I works again.
Restoring the backup returned the Knock Off functionality. I will be more careful when replicating the camera install, if that even had anything to do with it.
Interesting, same here. No knock off after installing latest camera mod. No time to play though so looking forward to hearing what you find.

That worked for me
Did Knock Off quit working for you too when you installed v5.0 Xdabbeb camera mod? I hadn't posted in that thread because I figured everyone would be complaining if it was happening.

My friend just got a G2 and is having this issue as well. I use a pattern unlock and am running Clean Rom. Some times when I try to unlock the screen it just randomly shuts the screen off while Im trying to draw the unlock pattern. I'm hoping someone has a solution for this.
Thanks

When I use the power button on the back of the phone instead of the knock-on, I had this same problem. I was rooted but on stock rom. I've read other posts about the same problem. I would try to put in my pattern and midway through the screen turns off. Sometimes it would be two seconds, sometimes like 10. Don't know what the problem was.
My knock-on feature was barely working. Some guy recommended getting this case: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00FEQU1NG/ref=oh_details_o01_s00_i00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
I needed one anyway so I got it. Haven't had an issue with the knock-on feature anymore. No idea why haha but whatever, it works. Kind of a ghetto workaround.
I'm having the exact same issue.
Factory reset several times, installing my usual apps or having just the default apps without updating them didn't make any difference.
After a factory reset I disabled the knock knock feature and still, when I try to bring my screen up and unlock, it immediately shuts off, preventing me from swiping.
Another side effect is, when I make a phone call, the screen immediately goes blank and it will never turn back on unless I restart by holding on to the power button, this is especially inconvenient when I need to dial some options (i.e.) voice mail options, corporate automated options.
All of the above happened while I had my Incipio feather shine case. (incipio.com/cases/smartphone-cases/lg-smartphone-cases/lg-g2-cases/lg-g2-cases-verizon/feather-shine-case-for-lg-g2-verizon.html) I took the case off and did another factory reset last night, and so far the knock-on rate has improved from 0% to at least 60-70%... Strangest thing.... If anyone else can shed some light onto what the hell happened/is happening, I'd really appreciate it! It's been a frustrating ride since this problem surfaced about a couple weeks ago. I had this phone for about 2 months now....
I'm having this problem too. It happens with both knock on and power button wake. I have noticed that the screen is not actually immediately turning off, though. In a completely dark room, I can still see faint outlines of my lock screen. Then, after the brief time out for dimming, the screen will go to its dimmed brightness (which is far brighter than what's concurring after waking the phone). I'm able to unlock, reboot, and usually that will solve the problem for a little while, but this is getting frustrating.
Stock rom, rooted, TWRP, Nova Launcher, and xposed. I'm not sure what's causing this.
I know it's been said many times but if you block the sensors with your fingers after waking the device, your screen will turn back off. Its a security feature/bug and I would assume this is what's happening here.
I ended up getting a certified-like new replacement from verizon... While I had the old one, I did a test with that sensor you're talking about and it didn't really make a difference. I made sure the sensor area was clean without anything covering it and the problems persisted. I really hope LG can find the root cause of this and fix it... Very frustrating.
Not a bug. But this is a feature we do not want. It is called proximity sensor. It is sensing too far imo. It is actually the one next to the front cam. Dont block it within 5 inches in front or you phone will sleep again. That should work with flip case. Annoyingfunction imo. Your device is not broken.

exactly. the sensor in very sensitive to being covered. Because its hypersensitive and having undesireable effects I would consider this a bug since it is buggy.
I figured out what the issue was, at least on my phone.
Lightflow was detecting a bunch of alternate LEDs, which I felt inclined to tick the check boxes for, just to make sure it could control the LED fully. Having those boxes checked caused my phone to do this. Everything is fine since I've unchecked them, though. No sensor issue, no proximity/case issue, just Lightflow (which still works without those alternate LEDs checked).
Having this issue with my G2, its very annoying. Knock on does not work and screen shuts off after about half a second that I press the power button. Had to reflash to stock the first time this happened and fixed it but after about a month the same problem occured. I could however open by pressing one of the volume button together with the power button.
Hoping to find permanent fix for this problem.

Knock on works well for me (most of the time) . Trouble starts when I charge g2 (always via its original charger that came with it).
Knock off works correctly all the time but knock on works only for about half a minute or less after I turn off the screen.
Weirdest thing of all is that when the phone is charged (100% - green light , but the phone is still plugged) knock on feauture works as it should. I don't know what to think of it. It seems like a software bug but I am not sure after all.
Edit : Knock on works ok when phone is charging via pc's usb. I really don't know what to think of.
Update the touch firmware by going to the hidden menu (3845#*xxx#) where xxx is your model number.
Go to hw test and scroll down to touch and update touch firmware. Should do the trick

It sounds like phone goes into deep sleep without the kernel " listen" for knock on.
Did you try hard reset? Or reflashing the rom?
In the hidden launcher menu, is an option only for knock off.
Weird....
I think this is normal. Mines the same. Its no big deal
Hi!
Got my Priv(stv100-4) yesterday, and after setting it up i realised that pbk gestures is not working.
It is enabled in settings, the phone has the latest updates and all blackberry apps are also updated. I also tried the "factory reset" several times.
Everything else is working perfect so i don,t see what causes this. Is there a setting somewhere that i am missing or did i just get a defective device?
If possible i would reflash the firmware, but haven,t found a way to do that.
Sombody have a good advise for me?
Was hoping to avoid sending it back for replacement...

If as you say it is enabled in settings, then it just has to work. Have you tried turning gestures off, restarting phone, then turning it back on?
Also you can try pressing VOL UP BUTTON and VOL DOWN BUTTON for at least 10 Second. Device should restart.
Thanks for replying.
tried both,and nothing happend.
guess i just have to send it back.
PKB gestures only work when using the Blackberry Keyboard, so if you installed say, the Google keyboard instead, and set it as the active input method, PKB gestures stop working. You have to use the Blackberry Keyboard as the active input method.
I wish it could be someting that easy, but i only have the blackberry keyboard installed
So my phone screen quit rotating. But its not a hardware issue. I know this because screen rotation works durring setup right after i flash a new rom. As soon as the setup is done, no more rotation...
YES screen rotation is enabled in settings. Ive tried 3 TW based 5.0 roms. None of them has working rotation. It is driving me NUTS. Rwilcos mostly stock is the only one that temporarily lets it rotate durring setup. ANY ideas?
Assuming you have 100% factory reset / wiped everything and then flashed stock
Try this as a workaround

Dial *#0*#
Press "Sensor" in the middle and see if the rotation / accelerometer sensor is working at all
When you say it works during setup, are you saying it rotates when you rotate the phone, basically working normally, or that it rotates on it's own without you moving the phone?
Also boot into download mode, and double check which model S5 it says at the top

I'm doing the swipe thing and it never works. I managed to get it to work ONCE yesterday, but I was in the settings for that feature. After that, even on that same settings page, it has never worked again.
Haven't tried flashlight notification, but I should try it since this phone lacks an led notification.

I just fixed my issue with the mini-view. Go to settings-Accessibility and make sure Switch Access is turned off. After disabling Switch Access, mini-view works.
I've enabled the flash on notification thing too. So far its working, but I need more time to test (to see if it just stops for some reason).

I have. Saw an old reddit post for LG v10 that solved it. You need to put your finger on the recent (square) and quickly and lightly flick slightly in either direction. Now it works every time for me. A flick, not a swipe.

Just a related update in-case Switch Access is off and miniview still isn't working...
This was my case where Switch Access was never turned on, but other apps were. I turned everything off one-by-one and back on again one-by-one and found that "Lookout" (that controls Safe Browsing) was causing my miniview not to work. I now have Switch Access and Lookout both off and it works again.
Hope this helps, too!

Yeah I just did the same thing and found out that unfortunately ultimate rotation control breaks miniview, oh well at least I know how to make it work if need be anyway but thanks for this because it was driving me crazy!
Sent from a ridiculously modified ColecoVision
Disabled outlook from the start and Switch Access is off, I still can't get the darn thing to work.
Some apps just break it really. I had parallel windows (an app that had an accessibility service and a spot on the screen you'd swipe from to activate) and miniview did not work at all. The activation hotspot didn't cover the navbar but I still couldn't get it to work. After I uninstalled it miniview worked perfectly fine. I dont have to swipe from specifically the recents key or anything like that, it works from any spot on the navbar.
There are quite a few apps that seem to break the functionality I've noticed. One that I used quite frequently was universal copy. Makes me wonder if it's an app that needs an accessibility service to work properly that does it as there was another one that needed it that also broke it
