When I have my transformer docked the screen will not stay off after closing the lid. Initially it will turn off, but after a few seconds it will come back on. It seems as though something is waking the device. I have tried a few different settings, and trying it with the charger plugged in, and also unplugged. Anybody else have this problem, and more importantly, anyone have a solution?

check your time-out settings for screen and lock?
I have it set to time out after 10 minutes but my understanding was the screen should automatically shutoff and stay off when docked and closed. Am I wrong? Could it be a kernel issue? I'm using the Clemsyn kernel. OC'd to 1.4

In Applications -> Development. Is the option that says "Stay on when charging" turned on? That'll explain why. Since the dock is technically charging the tablet.

I was excited for a minute, hoped that might be it. But no, I don't have that option enabled. You're using the Netformer kernel? Maybe I will try flashing that. At worst it could rule out the kernel causing the problem.

Check your tablet is properly docked?
The magnet under the "+=" key on the dock will turn off the screen on the tablet ONLY when the tablet is properly docked. When the tablet is loosly docked (hard to describe but has happened to me) the magnet will have no effect on the tablet screen dimming. For example, if you disconnect the tablet and dock and place a magnet over the tablet (same area above "+=" on keyboard) nothing happens.
All sorts of dock issues happen to me when I force stop services or delete data related to dock services. Nothing has recovered the dock for me, except a complete factory reset. For example, I force stopped and deleted data on three services related to android & asus keyboard and the top row of keys no longer functioned until factory reset (e.g. wireless, bluetooth, pad disable, etc. through settings key and some audio controls). This might be a related issue if you are not on stock OS/ROM.
Good luck!
my tablet is docked properly but is still got the issue that the screen turns on even when the lid is closed .. it turns off first but recovers a few seconds later ..
Mine is exactly the same--the stay awake option is not checked, the tablet is docked correctly (slider is all the way to the right), and the tablet comes on while docked and charging. However, it does charge. I haven't timed it to see how long it takes vs undocked, or docked being used. I'm running unrooted, latest updates.

It was exactly what happened to me! Check if the dock button go until the end. This is made by docking well, not forcing the button. After that the screen went off has supposed.
Good luck.
no .. ich checked it twice .. i can't push it harder to dock it .. the switch is all the way to the right.
Is there any known app that can handle the switching forced by opening and closing the lid ?
I think this happened to me one time and caused a huge scare.
I had been shutting the lid of the TF and putting it in it's case...and having no problems.
But one time I did that, and it came back on and got VERY HOT and ran the battery to 0%!
I got lucky and just recharged it, but now, I shut it off everytime I'm going to put it in the case...you can't trust the shut-off-feature.
Got the exact same issue, screen is initially turning off but when you fully close the lid it turns on. It's got something to do with the touchpad (for me at least), because I've got no problems at all when you turn the touchpad off!
Can you guys try this too? Just turn the touchpad off and see wether the screen will turn on or not. Might get us closer to a fix.

Same for me, i also had the feeling that it depends on the touchpad because when you reopen it you can see the cursor somewhere on the screen. Will try it later when i'm at home! Maybe we have to use something like a script to deactivate the touchpad when closing the lid.
greetings
Awesome ! this seems to work (tested it several times now).. i think there might be a way to react to the intents fired by closing and opening the lid so we can use them to turn off the touchpad.. ill check it out later but im not that experienced in android so maybe someone wants to help
EDIT: There is a status change in LogCat made by the WindowManager. Its called notifyLidSwitchChanged but there is nothing in the log while enabling or disabling the touchpad...
Maybe this related to problem?
I killed a few application services and deleted their data, while in settings. Afterwards my dock was not working correctly, e.g. keys were disabled and other strange effects.
I copied the 3.1 update from the web to flash and re-updated but this did *not* fix the problem. Next I did a factory reset and this solved my dock problems.
Maybe your tablet is missing some ASUS control bits for the dock? If you can afford a factory reset it might help. Good luck.
I'll try, I'm rooted so I'll just nandroid and revert to stock 3.1. I'm glad the touchpad "fixes" it atleast, means we all have the same issue.
Fixed
Thanks for posting this question as I thought I was the only one experiencing this issue.
The fix for me was found when Gibeon mentioned the touch pad. Once I read that I realized that the cursor was always displayed when I would open the case. Not sure of the reason. All I have to do is turn the touch pad off and it works fine.
I will try a factory reset/data wipe when I am ready but for now this works fine for me. Perhaps there is a away to fix this in the kernel (I have used both clemsyn/blades and netformer and had the issue with both) Thanks for the info!
I made a thread about this too a few days ago, I still have this problem and it drains my dock battery in only 3-4 hours. (and that's WITHOUT using the TF at all for those 3-4 hours)
Tested on mine and it is definitely the touch pad. Thanks for the help everyone. At least we've got a work around to use until a more permanent fix is achieved.
Would tasker be able to automatically shut down touch pad when screen is closed?

Hey,
I don't know why but sometimes my Power Button won't turn off my phone. Well ..actually not even the "Touch Control" Method works. But pressing it for ~5sec (whatever) makes the phone reboot. So the button is functionable.
Also my mobile data sometimes doesn't work .. no signal at all. I recieve sms , can make a phonecall and WiFi etc still works. But not 2g/3g.
I'm using rooted Stock ROM with Stock Launcher and "eXperience Pro" + "Touch Control" App if that does matter.
Can somebody explain it to me :<?
Thanks in advance

It's called a BSOD- Black Screen of Death. It has to do with the Touch Control app.
For the signal thing, reinstalling the stock ROM.

Still related to touch control. The app messes up the touchscreen.
Hm okay thanks ..can't live without the app anymore. But why does it mess with the Power Button?

First of all, i appreciate anyone who takes the time and reads this.
I have the same issue, and always had when installing mods in the past. The phone becomes irresponsive and laggy at times, even though when you flash the rom at the start it is buttery smooth and battery life is amazing! It seems that this is always short lived, however, and I am constantly having problems flashing ROMs on my phone (Both my current Galaxy Nexus and prior Galaxy SII). I would love to tell you my kernel but at the moment the POWER button is as well not responding. So much so that i can't turn the phone on!! :crying: Any help would be appreciated. I've tried taking the battery out, and putting it back in and ive also tried booting the phone via usb without the battery. Nothing's working. The battery is responsive, however, it displays the battery meter (while charging) when i click the power button once. It just doesn't respond when i hold it down to try and turn the phone on.
Many thanks!!

Hey.
For me, as I already mentioned, it doesn't turn off.
But I'm pretty sure that I found the issue : experience pro. When I try to take a screen shot of my screen on time it doesn't make one and the power button won't do ANYTHING UNTIL I press volume down or up ones. So for me it's the change track when pressing volume feature. Maybe it'll help. Greetings.

I was wondering if anyone else was experiencing KnockON inconsistencies with their G2. Turning off always works properly. But if the phone has been idle long, it hardly will ever turn on the first one, two, or even three times I knock on it. Sometimes I have to tap it rather hard to function. I've tried different locations on the screen, as well as the center where the phone actually instructs you to do so. Then I tried faster and slowerand it makes no difference. The tips of my fingers are hurting now lol.
Thanks!

Surprised you're the first to bring this up, lol! Been watching this device closely on on youtube reviews on this device you can see it right infront of your eyes. Doesn't ALWAYS wake on double tap but does ALWAYS turn off, weird. Idk what to tell ya but yes it isn't just you...
Are you using the stock launcher?
I switched to Nova and noticed its very finicky for me ever since I stopped using the stock launcher.
Still on stock launcher.
I just tap it 4 times when turning on, no big deal.
The only time it fails for me is if I tap too softly. I notice that when turning it on, it does take two distinct forceful taps. It seems to register anything else as a touch. So, while I think it could be better, I don't see it as inconsistent. If it was too sensitive, it might end up turning on in your pocket.
I think it has to do with the motion sensor in the phone. Mine works fine if I just tap it twice while it's in a steady position (even in my hand), but when I'm riding my bicycle I can't get it to tap "on" most of the time (unless I stop). Tap off works much more reliably.
i'm pretty sure there's a deep sleep issue, but that's to be expected..once the process that controls knockon goes to a deep sleep, of course it won't work right away.
Tapping near top of screen seems to work much better.

Exactly.
Can't have both battery life and also expect the Knock feature not to go to deep sleep. I prefer to eat my cake.
Also, I like that it does not accidentally turn in my pocket or when gripping the screen in my hands, etc.
The Korean version has gotten a few updates to make KnockOn smoother, so you might not have that update yet.
Well, I have a VZW version so updates will not be plentiful lol. Knocking on it several times, rather than twice seems to work better. Thank you guys for your suggestions.

Maybe we should shake it a few times and then double-tap the screen. It would be like a Moto X/LG G2 hybrid!
I’m doing a study right now with this feature by recording the time and results. So far 3 quick knocks resulted in successful power ups 100% of the time (7 for 7). When doing 2 knocks (prior to the study) it was intermittent to the point of driving me crazy.
Come to think about it when you knock on someone’s door do you knock 3 times or 2? I always knock 3 times but the video reviews of this feature messed my thought process up with 2. First world problems I guess. LOL
I will report back with my results tonight.

Seems to work best if you tap where the lock screen widgets are located -- top center, but not at very top.
Anyone having a problem with the phone going unto deep sleep and then just shutting down?
Sent from my LG-D801 using Tapatalk 2
I have an explanation. I think this happens because when the phones asleep (screen and touch panel is off), knockon uses the motion of the phone, read by the accelerometer, to recognize that two-tap pattern and subsequently turn on.
When the phone and screen are on though, the mechanism happens by direct touch input and is much more reliable, so it should happen every time.
This would explain why in moving situations like riding a bike, or when I was trying to turn it on while it was on the bed, which probably absorbed the motion from the taps it doesn't work as well.
I did hear that the Korean version got a firmware update that helped, though who knows when we'll see that in America.

For some reason my screen won't shut off when I press the power button or by itself after any amount of time. I made sure all of the settings were set right that might keep it on. I know it's not hardware damage because I've pretty much never dropped it or handled it hard. The power button still works because it will get the turn off, restart, etc screen to go. Any idea how to fix it? I already did a factory reset.

Download wakelock detector and see which app is keeping your screen on.
Dialed that number, the dimming worked, but the sleep button didn't do anything. I'll try that app out and see what it says.
In my understanding *#0*# dialing is for hardware check, if sleep is not working from there means it has nothing to do with any app & better to take to service centre.

Any help? Using the wakelock app it says that system manager application is used a lot more than anything else. Not sure what it does.

Try to flash complete stock ROM & clear Data & Catch before & after flashing from recovery may HELP.
That fixed it. I'm not sure why I didn't already try that since it seems kinda obvious. Don't know what made it do that though. Do you happen to know if modifying the boot animations can mess other things up?

Mine does this every time I reboot my phone. I have to press and hold the home key, pick the pie chart, pick RAM and pick "Clear Memory". Then it's fine til the next time I reboot.
I had my note 3 with the same problem and solved it recovering the original system/media/bootsamsung*.qmg files.
to solve the problem plug the charger and unplug it immediately and plug it back in again. This is also the reason why the problem is caused. So doing it again will solve the problem.

I have. Saw an old reddit post for LG v10 that solved it. You need to put your finger on the recent (square) and quickly and lightly flick slightly in either direction. Now it works every time for me. A flick, not a swipe.

This was my case where Switch Access was never turned on, but other apps were. Disabled outlook from the start and Switch Access is off, I still can't get the darn thing to work.
Some apps just break it really. I had parallel windows (an app that had an accessibility service and a spot on the screen you'd swipe from to activate) and miniview did not work at all. The activation hotspot didn't cover the navbar but I still couldn't get it to work. After I uninstalled it miniview worked perfectly fine. I dont have to swipe from specifically the recents key or anything like that, it works from any spot on the navbar.
There are quite a few apps that seem to break the functionality I've noticed. One that I used quite frequently was universal copy. Makes me wonder if it's an app that needs an accessibility service to work properly that does it as there was another one that needed it that also broke it
