Take its still 4.4.2?? Also i have OTA showing but can not connect to download so unsure why thats happening.
Edit: Got it and now! Flashed and lost root LOL oh well, Just a heads up to all it will not flash via TWRP latest as it complians about assert(getprop("ro.product.name") == "tn7_114gp"); and even if you get past that it might complain again with the patch checks.
Yep 4.42

seems pretty solid, definite improvement in stylus speed.
Also seems to be an improvement in i/o,
just installed something from playstore without the usual slowdowns, need to investigate that a bit further

There's a software online called "minitool power data recovry". It has a price ($40-$145, they have a functional demo), but its performed miracles for me in terms of data recovery.
But my first recomendation, anytime you experience data loss, STOP everything your doing with the drive (or sdcard), every second you try to access it, you might be loosing more and more data.
Sent from an Epic with 4G
After you figure out this mess get Titanium Media Sync so you don't have these problems anymore. I gather you don't have a cwm backup?
Sent from Bonsai 7.1.1.1
Also never pick SetCPU for set changes on boot until you thoroughly test your settings. This way it will restore to stock settings if you lock up and have to reboot. The same goes to Voltage Control or any overclocking/undervolting app. Every phone is different and requires custom settings and extensive testing.

Did I just get a bad card... If its the latter will TEP replace it?
Sent from my SPH-D700 using Tapatalk
Edit: went to Sprint store and told them about my problem. they didn't ask any questions just replaced the sd card... Unfortunately they said they were out of 16 gb cards so I got an 8, however they gave me the 16 gb bad card back and a business card with the store managers signature on it and said come back in a week with the SD card and they will replace it... Seems like I'll get to keep the 8 gigger (as he put it) too...
I saw this problem earlier in the week, and my friend's epic wiped all pics/videos- blanked it, but somehow kept the apps.. the data was still there- I used diskdigger (pc app from diskdigger.org, which you have to pay for- i think it's $15 now) and an usb sd card reader. I did a surface scan for traces of files (dig deeper), where you have to tell it what to look for (eg: look for .jpgs only), and it pulled up a ton of files- some of them browser cache files, some were the missing pics, etc. I guess you could use any file recovery program, but the thing to remember: if you think you lost everything, don't use the sd card! Writing anything to it might write over the files you are trying to recover. A new 16gb card off amazon is around $30. I'd love to know why the epic erases everything.
I have had a kernel do this to me twice in the past. Turned out to be some error in script. It has long since been fixed. It was like my SD card got formatted. Everything was gone. Hope that's not the case for you. Out of curiousity, which kernel did you flash?

I flashed genocide kernal which I run on my other epic at 1.4 on demand and it works great. For some reason it totally wiped out my other one.....strange....

I installed Windows 8 yesterday and it was running fine. All of a sudden about an hour ago it froze but I could still move the mouse. I couldn't click on anything though and had to manually restart. Now I can't open any metro apps without it freezing every time, it takes longer than usual to reboot after manually shutting it down, and my documents, music, etc. Folders are gone. If I can even get to the desktop it'll freeze two minutes later. It is literally unusable. I'm pissed off because this is supposed to be final software from Microsoft and it's worse than Alpha software. How can it be released like this. I've read of other people having the same problems but none of the fixes work for us.

I tried everything to fix it but nothing worked. It's not like I did anything to make it happen either. It just did all of a sudden out of no where. I think it's maybe a driver problem but Toshiba, for me, hasn't made all their drivers Windows 8 compatible. When I go into control panel and hardware and devices it shows a yellow triangle with an exclamation point. When I got to troubleshoot it it can't find the driver. I manually installed the drivers from Toshiba's site the first time because the sound was crackling but when I had to reinstall I just installed what Windows Update suggested.

If this project was so important to you why didn't you back it up off of the phone somewhere? Dropbox or the free 50GB Box account most got with the Nexus 4 come to mind. I'm not sure if a full nandroid backup includes the contents of the sdcard on the nexus 4 but that might be a place to start looking, that is if you ever bothered to do a full backup of your phone.
You can get your files back, the same thing happened to me, my pocket somehow formatted my sdcard. Look for software that recovers deleted files

Boy do you have it wrong. XDA is not a place to come and get help. IT is not a support site. This is a developers site. You are EXPECTED to put in the time and effort to fix your own issues first. Then spend some time searching. (and do search outside your own devices forum) Then you try some things you have seen. If that doesnt work then you can post a thread but dont expect a solution.

I haven't tested such software, and I could be wrong, but when you connect (most) newer Android devices to a computer, you get access to the files via MTP. You don't have direct access to the filesystem (which I think is ext4), and because of this, you can't do the "advanced" stuff needed for file recovery (I guess checking sectors, free space, and etc.)
Older (and some newer) Android devices when hooked to a computer let you do USB Mass Storage (essentially the same kind of access you have when you plug a flash drive in), which is giving you direct access to the file system (FAT32), and in-theory, should work fine with file recovery software.
so can we mount the nexus 4 as fat32 or ext4? because on mine it just shows up in device section with no name

have you tried DOING anything with your 128 card? some of the stock apps will play nice, but even deleting a picture will give you a "sorry KitKrap doesn't allow sd card access". when I finish a video and go to delete it "sorry KitKrap doesn't allow it", when I use Google Drive and move a doc over to another folder or file "sorry KitKrap; nope!".. I've always been extremely well organized, and I've put a lot of time into organizing my SD card with any files or folders I'll need or use for work, and KitKrap won't allow any of it.. it's actually the exact same thing as when the "LOCK" switch is switched when you plug a standard SD card into a computer, except you can never turn it off.

Actually i discovered that the stock photo browser app only hides images, doesn't delete them. It may just be me, but after taking a string of shots of my daughter and trying to delete all but one, the gallery app said they were deleted, but when i plugged my phone into my computer they were all on the sdcard. Curious if others have the same issue?

Mostly I have all my pictures saved to it. I also transfer movies and tv shows to it on a daily basis. (Download a tv show to my laptop and transfer it to sd card via usb) On average, I have about 5GBs of free space left on my card.
Only ran into an issue once. I tried to delete a folder (season 5 of the show"24") and it claims that the card was "Write Protected" So I went into the folder and deleted the episodes . Folder still remains but its empty. Other than that its been working fine.
BTW I'm using the SanDisk Ultra 128 GB micro SD

I noticed the stock apps dont refresh and also keep a massive cache. I moved a pic folder and it remained in the stock pic app as cache, including full sized images. when I moved my music folder it did the exact same thing.. there's no refresh option. I cleared data and cache from the app, but it must be using some other means to cache, because nothing is actually better afterwards.

Assuming Android team leaves the option intact for the public release. Notice still no sd slot on the Nexus devices in spite of card writes "apparently" being part of the framework now Never doubt Android's hatred for sd cards. Were it not for Apple buyers scarfing up almost all the flash supply allocations for the iPhone launch, the G1 would have had 2GB of flash and no sd slot.
We can truly thank Apple for why Android devices have sd slots in the first place. :victory:

You don't understand the issue. Kitkat took away the app's ability to write/delete any where on the SD card, it only allows full access to the app's own folder on the SD card. I.E. sandboxing it. Apps are still able to read the whole SD card though.

The issue is non stock apps can't write to the card. Of course you will have no issues if use no apps that need to.
More an issue here of "information error".
