Tab keeps Pausing during Gameplay

Guys,
In need of a bit of advice....
Today I noticed for the first time whenever I play any game about 10 seconds into the game it will pause and the only way to carry on is to 'un-pause' the game.
It then will play for around another 10 seconds then pause again.
I have had a look at what new Aps I have installed but it does not appear to be any of them.
I have rebooted the Tab several times but still it carries on pausing game play by itself.
Any ideas??

Have you tried stock clock speeds

Did you modify your device, whether through rooting or changing your rom? This is the first time I've heard of that problem. O_O

No, nothing modified. Had I altered anything I would hopefully have the answer.
I normally help many but this is the first time I have been stumped.

I would backup everything with titanium, then try with a fresh new rom.

The backup would simply include whatever is causing the issue.
Plus I don't really want to start playing around with the Tab. As a surgeon I have quite an extensive amount of data I need access to and I can not afford to have a Tab that becomes unstable after a ROM chop.
Basically I need to ascertain what is causing the problem just as I would with a patient.

I mean install only one game after the fresh new rom, to see if it's a hardware problem or a software one.

Thanks... but as I said I don't really want to go down the avenue of putting a fresh ROM on my Tab.
I don't have the time to make a backup, do all the ROM update requirements, install Apps one by one, etc. etc.
The Tab is working fine in all other respects.... It just will not play games without dropping into Pause mode.
Any other time I would have done all this myself... I have helped countless others to do this and have walked many a forum member through the procedure so I am fully verse with all the requirements... but time is not a luxury nor is it necessary given the Tab in all other respects works fine.
This is definitely a software issue... that I do know.

Another twist I am noticing..... Not only is the Tab pausing every game you load but some games (Asphalt 5 to name but one) will stop during game play, reload the game then take you to the the screen with options to either continue or exit... in other words it's acting very brutal on games.
But why only on games, that is what is so confusing?
All I need is an idea chaps.... a simple idea to work on.

Plants vs zombies for android phones is finally out!
Has anyone tried it on their x8?
I already tried it on mine, but it is always force closed...
I'm using lizypen's floyo....

You need to reboot phone too

Still no good, it's rebooting the phone after a sec. I think it's not good for x8. Its name is "plants vs zombies HD" and its size is 49MB, and it is an apk file, so there is no cache directory for it. I am using FroyoBread BTW.

hmm i found a "plants vs zombiles" which was 75mb. Mine works but then when i have to make a username the keyboard dosent appear and then it force closes or reboots.
Im using Floyo 0.20

i found this 75Mb sized PvsZ, and it's doing what you wrote: force close or reboot
I want this game, I loved the PC version. Please, somebody...
Edit.: Now it is working for me. I set the reduced texture size and 16Bit textures in C3D, restarted phone. Started PlantsVsZombies, it started, but it was a mess. I managed to write a profile name in it, started a new game. It was unplayable because of the textures are misplaced. I managed to exit from it through the menus. I set the texture size to normal in C3D (Removed the tick) but kept the 16bit textures ON, restarted phone. I set up Airplane mode and tried to start the game, and it has worked flawless! Now disabled Airplane mode, and I started the game again: no restart, no force close. It is working! Hope it helps for you guys!

not sure, i found 1 that is 75mb and 1 that is 49mb. Not sure which is the working 1. I did wat the other guy said and it worked but when i was playing it suddenly forced closed. So im wondering if its the 49mb which is the real 1? ;S

The 74,5MB is the working one. BTW you need the 1.8 version C3D (free version is enough, from Market) I don't know why can't you see my sharing. Else any 75MB PvsZ will be good!

ok thanks, i will try with version 1.8. But do we have to download plug ins aswell?

I haven't downloaded any plugin for C3D, so no, you don't need plugin, just set the textures to 16bit. Beware, this setting will apply to all of your 3D applications. Don't forget to restart phone after you set it!

Hey guys...
As you know you can now get asphalt 7 for free os samsung apps(yay! ) but when i downloaded the graphics were pretty bad for my standards...
Anyway i decided to look into in and i messed a bit with the games files...
The results i got were sweet!
Features:
Now the game has:
1)anti aliasing enabled
2)the car and enviroment looks much better and the biggest plus
3)it it runs 60 fps most of the time!! (i need confirmation about this,although it's much smoother!)
4)POTENTIALY decrease battery drain due to less workload for the gpu with the new settings...
I've played 20 minutes and only 5% is gone!(using lh3 ics and siyah 1.5.2 with undervolted and overclocked cpu+gpu (1600mhz cpu,533mhz gpu)
New in V2!
Fully blown out graphics!
All details maxed out!
-Enabled High quality car shader
-Lod back to highest value
-Gamma luminance enabled
-Dynamic reflection optimized
-Car reflection in garage enabled
This looks ULTRA SWEET!
Instructions are the same for sammy version,for paid version i need help!
Installation:
Download the attached file,extract it and and paste it in
sdcard/Android/data/com.gameloft.android.SAMSUNG.GloftA7SS/files
Looks like it won't work with the paid version of asphalt 7!
Although you can download the sammy one for free if you want.

Final Notes
1)This will work 100% and DOES NOT HAVE ANY RISK(s)...
If run into any problem,just delete the file and the game will re-download the previous one in seconds!
2)I'm not sure if the ones that bought it have the game installed in that directory!
If you do,you're most likely in luck fellas!
If you don't,i can't do anything sorry....

Easy tiger, why would i search the forum for that? I just got home from work and checked the forum and saw your post, obviously the first thing i checked was the Samsung Apps store. If you had linked to a different post in the OP detailing the info regarding where to look on S Apps then yes shame on me for not looking at it. Anyway thanks for the info and the mod.

I also was about to delete the game as graphics and accelerometer controls are awful. This has made the game much smoother and looks really nice. Controls suck but that's not your fault. Thank you :thumbup:

I'm not a fan of the accelerometer either...
Go to settings,controls and change the control type to D!
That way you can tap left or right on the touchscreen to steer...

Hmmm i brought the game from the market but dont have the folder on my sdcard....

Yeah, I can't seem to find that folder for my game purchased from Play Store.

I downloaded it from Sam. App Store, also did not find the folder whereas there is one under:
/sdcard/gameloft/games/GloftA7SS
over there you can find the DeviceConfig.xml
will test it

maybe try to search for "gameloft" or "A7" on your sdcard with your file explorer (Root Explorer at least has this option), should give you all folders & files with gameloft or A7 in it. Maybe that helps to find it
--edit: or search directly for the DeviceConfig.xml

Hey thanks for the file, I was looking that file and I find it funny that they leave in the iPhone and iPad information in there.

No MSAA enabled on mine...

If you buy the game from the playstore, all the data is stored in the following location: sdcard/android/obb/com.gameloft.android.ANMP.GloftA7HM. There is no ".../files/" folder.
All the data is capsulated into a file, main.100.com.gameloft.android.ANMP.GloftA7HM.obb, that has 1.4gb.
I copied the config file but the game graphics are the same. I guess that you need to put the config file into the 1.4gb file .

Update: I unzipped the obb file replaced the config file and zipped again the files(i zipped all the files into a .tar file, and after that i changed the extension name). After that i replaced the current file withe the official .obb, but the game fails to run. :|

My heart litterally stopped at that point .. What can i do to get it back? ... never again CWM even if i enjoy it.. right now im enjoying team win recovery more... Anyone can help get me bak my data? MY MUSIC PROJECT WAS INSIDE!!!

It's not CWM's fault! It's your own stupidity! There is no such a thing as accidentally formatting! Your music project is gone for good...

If this project was so important to you why didn't you back it up off of the phone somewhere? Dropbox or the free 50GB Box account most got with the Nexus 4 come to mind. I'm not sure if a full nandroid backup includes the contents of the sdcard on the nexus 4 but that might be a place to start looking, that is if you ever bothered to do a full backup of your phone.

You can get your files back, the same thing happened to me, my pocket somehow formatted my sdcard. Look for software that recovers deleted files

What secret? I said there is software that recovers deleted files. Have you heard of Google? Search for software that recovers deleted files and voila, you'll have your dats back. There are hundreds of programs that can handle your problem.

I don't know if it works for our phones, but I accidentally formatted an external hard drive before and used the Easeus data recovery wizard software. It recovered everything. Worth a shot

No offence but he could've searched on Google without anyone telling him to. that's why people come here on xda to get help from fellow members.. what's the point of replying if someone asks for help here and in reply what he all gets is 'go search Google'..

XDA also encourages users to search for answers before asking for help. This place is for learning new things and expanding current knowledge. People won't really learn if they're spoon fed what they want to know.

Boy do you have it wrong. XDA is not a place to come and get help. IT is not a support site. This is a developers site. You are EXPECTED to put in the time and effort to fix your own issues first. Then spend some time searching. (and do search outside your own devices forum) Then you try some things you have seen. If that doesnt work then you can post a thread but dont expect a solution.

I'd love to here about the hundreds of software that recovers deleted files from MTP devices (MTP is not direct hardware access like plugging a flash drive into your computer)

So you mean the software like PC Inspector or Recuva or any other file recovering software will not work on our Nexus 4..??
once i deleted my photos from my old desire HD and i recovered it using PC inspector...now Nexus does not have SD card so i am not sure weather that will work or not..

I haven't tested such software, and I could be wrong, but when you connect (most) newer Android devices to a computer, you get access to the files via MTP. You don't have direct access to the filesystem (which I think is ext4), and because of this, you can't do the "advanced" stuff needed for file recovery (I guess checking sectors, free space, and etc.)
Older (and some newer) Android devices when hooked to a computer let you do USB Mass Storage (essentially the same kind of access you have when you plug a flash drive in), which is giving you direct access to the file system (FAT32), and in-theory, should work fine with file recovery software.

so can we mount the nexus 4 as fat32 or ext4? because on mine it just shows up in device section with no name

Hey chaps hows it going?
Ive downloaded and played Fast and Furious 6 on my N4 but ive made some mistakes and i wanted to reset my career...problem is no matter what i do(uninstall,delete data,clear cache etc) ..the game always reloads my career...my question is...does this game save any files in any directory or is it AndroidID dependant and saves my game in cloud? If so do i have to change my ID to reset the career?

Ive downloaded and played Fast and Furious 6 on my N4 but ive made some mistakes and i wanted to reset my career...problem is no matter what i do(uninstall,delete data,clear cache etc) ..the game always reloads my career...my question is...does this game save any files in any directory or is it AndroidID dependant and saves my game in cloud? If so do i have to change my ID to reset the career?

I feel the same

Man I feel your pain, I searched everywhere I could think of for any files related to the game to try and delete them.....no avail. I ditched it all together and went back to CSR Racing.

I just found a way chaps!
Its actually easy :
1)Go to options and create a Kabam Account.
2)Login it
3)Play a Race
4)go to options and log off that Kabam account
5)Exist and close the game completely
Done...now your progress has been reset hehe
