Setting wallpaper - Galaxy S 5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Ok the question is not as stupid as you think, maybe. When choosing a photo from the gallery to set as wallpaper the selection rectangle has two wings on the side, I can not figure out what they do actually. In fact they do not seem to do anything at all. but it seems to me that if they are there, they must have some sort of function?

What do you mean by wings? the greyed out parts? can you post a picture?

It shows the part of your picture showing horizontly and verticaly

It's a sizing grid or frame, showing what portion of the image will be used for the wallpaper. If the original image is much larger, you can choose which area of the image to use as the wallpaper or resize the image by dragging the grid.

New Icon Set

Is there any kind of interest in icons like these? If so I'll go ahead and make them...
Thanks!

....They're alright.
The lines seem a little fuzzy.
I don't really like the upside down effect either. It makes a simple icon seem like half a paragraph.
You have a good idea, you just need to work on it.
i agree, if you put the text central and get rid of the "upside down" text I think they'd be great
Exactly. Icons are supposed to represent a program or a function.
Google can do this with a simple 'G'.
Yahoo with a 'Y'.
Be as short as possible, while still enabling any user to understand what it means.

Wow! Took the words right out of my mouth !
+1 on raising the text, and giving the glass/reflection effect below.
Also, maybe a faded image behing the text, of the app, so for Opera, have the "O" behind text "browse the web"

LOOOL, that darkened area, is a stylised effect to make the system menu pop more and stand out from whats in the background. It's akin to the gadget sidebar in Windows Vista.
the effect for 3.2 only ?
Thank you all

[Q] Change 'power saving' icon?

Hi there;
I have a SM-G900F Samsung Galaxy S5. I love the 'power saving' feature because it lets me put the screen into a greyscale mode.
It also means, however, that I have this ghastly icon on my screen all the time.

"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
Is there any [relatively] easy way I can change these icons?
I tried searching but I can't think of any more descriptive search query than "change screen icons" which could mean loads of different things.
I'd love it if it was just a tiny PNG I could find with Solid-Explorer and change it over with one of my own.
Any ideas?
Cheers;

the power saving icon is in the SystemUI.apk, so unless you edit that, there is no way.

Change the settings menu layout to "List"

Well, today I discovered that you can change the stupid tabbed Settings layout to a more natural list with sections.
Sent from my Nexus 5 using Tapatalk
I found it out the first day i was relieved

Thanks for making sure. I just dont understand why make the tabs at all. The list is much easier and more logical system to navigate and use. Samsung did the same thing and I hated it. Thankfully LG allows you to change it to list.

Camera effects

Hi guys!
As I said before, I come from a very large list of Xperia phones xD, and one of the things I miss more is the "selective color" effect, mainly to get photos like this ones
You pick a object in the screen, and just shows the color of that thing (and all the things with that color) and every other thing is in gray scale, first picking blue
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",

"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
and then green
U know if there's an app in the samsung camera that can do something like that? there is a effect called "Orange Kiss" but only shows orange/red things and can't be modified, so that one nope
If can't be in samsung camera, another app that u know that can be make something similar?
thanks in advance guys!
I think the Camera360 app has the selective color capability. You can check it out.

Thanks dude!
I found it, is called Magic Color filter, it does almost the same but on a predeterminated "effects" (U can't select the object u want), is good but not as Sony's, hope somebody else knows another one, but this is good too, thanks bro!
Anyone knows if using a different camera software will make lower quiality photos? I mean, I don't think samsung let another apps use their software process.....
