I really like miui roms for galaxy y. But after installing them , I found these common bugs in all miui roms for galaxy y.
(1) Wifi tether (2) receive file via bluetooth.
Wifi tether problem annoys me a lot.. Plz tell me method to fix this wifi problem.
Tethering problem is common for all CM7 ROMs based on bieltv.3's CM7.For the bluetooth, try reflashing the ROM or replace bluetooth services apk with a new one.

Hi everybody,
I have a brand new x8, installed 2.2.1 cm but i have a problem, i cant use any wifi tether softwares, it says the kernel is wrong, barnacle starts but cannot be found. Sorry if it is a known bug, i don't really had time to google for it. Thanks for the answers.
it's a known bug, there was another thread like this today. we can't tether until we have custom kernel.

I have factory ROM but barnacle never workd . It shows tethering but client is able to find the conectoin
It works fine for me. Perhaps you are doing something wrong.
It works on custom roms, but after you're finished with your tether the phone will get the 'sd card is safe to remove' bug.
Hello!
i am using defy Running on CM9 nightely build-120413.
wifi hotspot doesnt work. when i click turn on wifi hotspot, it says turning mobile hotspot on and nothing happens. is this problem common for all defy users on my build n will this resolve if i update to later builds? or is this a problem with my phone?
p.s however, i used to hotspot when i had Defy running on official froyo.
any help would be thanked n appreciated.
If you are using Eppy's ics then I would recommend you go with the latest nightly
Sent from my MB525 using XDA
Had the same issue on Quarks ICS. Any solucion is appreciated.
Try "WiFi Tether" you can download from play shop.

I have the same problem Running it on JB and just like it did on ICS it just sticks to TURNING WiFi ON (or off)
Try wifi theter for root user.
hello mates.
I know there are already some threads about tethering (i know, i used "search" before creating new thread)
My problem is this:
i flashed a lot of roms found in the developers section. miui, cm7 and oxygen, actually i think i have tested them all, doing the 3 wipes EVERY TIME...(god bless titanium backup)
I never got wifi tethering to work properly not with native feature nor with any app on the market.
with pc 1/5 could make the tethering
with ics tablet and SE x10mini i got endless connect-reconnect making internet unusable and sometimes i could not even find u8800 in the list of available networks.
I tried sharing 3g with SE neo v and everything went ok perfectly stable connection.
So my question is: has anyone, in ANY rom, got the wifi-tethering to work properly?
Thanx
Im using aurora and barnacle wifi tether. So far no problem.
Can you check your wifi mac please, it may be nulled.

Mac is ok, never updated to .35 kernel. I am sure that it is somehow prolly drivers problem on 8800 because if I share from other phones to my tablet connection is fast and stable
Could it been .32 problem?

Hi, I've been trying to get my wifi to work for the ics and jellybean custom roms using coderz's 3.0.66 kernel even though this helps it tends to disable the usb connection, can anyone help me figure out a way....
P.S. my wifi has issues with most jellybean roms anyway to resolve this?

Which rom?
Also, does your phone have the headset heat?
i found a solution to my problem
Sorry for not replying earlier man, i did a little bit of research and found out that the problem was with my wifi region settings (which only works with US), therefore I no longer use the coderz kernel. I am currently on the Mokee 4.2.2 rom which is great.....But is there a way to let the region settings stay as they have been set after reboot.. I have no headset overheat ..thank youuu
Hello guys,
I've been trying to fix wifi on my Defy since I got the phone a month ago and I'm starting to get really frustrated with this problem.
I usually just read, dont post on forums but I've tried alot of solutions found on this forum and others and. nothing has worked except flashing CM10/11 or SlimRom. Wifi doesn't work properly on stock ROM or MIUI so my guess is it's a framework problem which has been fixed on newer versions because as soon as I swith to android 4.0 or above, I have no problem, but these ROMs eat up alot of the phones resources and I would like to have a more fluent experience so I want to stay on MIUI.
Any other defive connects fine to my Asus router.
So on any gingerbread ROM (stock/custom) wifi works fine a few minutes and then the signal drops and disconnects. After that I can't see any wifi networks in range. and only works again if I enable/disable wifi or activate/deactivate airplane mode, but it drops again after a few minutes.
I've tried changing every setting in the router(changed channels, frequencies, disabled 802.11n mode, changed to g mode, etc), or in the defy related, nothing works unless I flash an android 4.x.
Plz help, I'm desperate.
Thx.

One idea: try getting the Wi-Fi related files from a CM11 rom and use them in a CM7 one. Maybe system/etc/wifi ?

Can you do that? Has anyone tried it? I mean I suppose you mean the wifi drivers, are they compatible with a gingerbread system if they were designed for android 4.x? And if so where/which arethese files? and do I simply replace them like copy/paste?

I used to replace gps.conf with a version that worked better in my country. I never tried with wi-fi files. You could copy-paste them, but I think you should repair permission afterwards.
