BELL Canada Phone not connecting to 4G/3G in China - G2 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi guys,
I have an LG G2 from Bell Canada (D803) and I'm currently in China. I bought a 4G data plan from China Mobile which uses TD-LTE. I can sort of understand why I can't connect to the 4G network (is it because the G2 doesn't support TD-LTE??), but I can't understand why I don't even get 3G service. It's EDGE only currently.
Sorry if this is a stupid question. I've spent the last 2 days trying to figure it out by myself but I'm not getting anywhere.
[EDIT] 4G data plan as in a phone number/data plan microsim (not the WiFi hotspots).

[Q] US xoom in EU

I'm about to buy a xoom in the US without any contract. I would go for the 3G one (Verizon but without contract). Do you guys think I will be able to use it after unlocking? Do I need to unlock anyway, since it's without contract? Like the ones in Best Buy?
Tks for your inputs.
Cheers
Andrew
i think there should be no problem. I have us wifi xoom.... but one year ago i bought us nexus-one and there was no problem in using the 3g in europe (same freq).
or..maybe you are asking about 'provider sim-lock ' then i dont have an answer... but i believe its doable
Hi,
You can not use 3G from USA in Europe other frequencies and modulation methods, Wifi is okay
I also bought a US 3G (Verizon) model without contract and am using it in South Africa, but wifi only. The Verizion 3G works on the CDMA network whereas AFAIK Europe (as is South Africa) works on the GSM network so 3G is not going to work. The CDMA network works sim free so I'm not even sure if the sim slot is currently active and will probably only be activated for the 4G rollout.
If you buy it without contract there is however no need to unlock it or register it on the Verizon network to use wifi.
Thanks guys. I was thinking the same way as the mobiles are working here very well with EU GSM 3G, but the tab is not for the GSM as there is no phone function. Since I have my nice HTC HD2 with android and 3G, I will be able to share internet to the tab where wifi is not available. And of course the wifi version is much cheaper. Thanks again.

Bell LTE scarborough

Hi, I recently bought a galaxy S4 from bell. I live in the scarborough area and I haven't been able to catch a LTE signal once in the last 2 weeks even though they say they have good coverage. I have called customer service and they have said that my plan and sim are lte compatible and I have the correct APN set.
I am getting worried that there might be something wrong with the phone. Is there anyone here who knows confirmed areas/spots where they are able to get an LTE connection? I would love to go there and check it out to confirm whether its a problem with my phone or not.

I want to use my T-Mobile LG G2 on AT&T

On January 24th, 2014, I switched from Verizon to T-Mobile mainly for the price. T-Mobile is sending me a reimbursement for the early termination fee that Verizon charged.
T-Mobile service in my area isn't as good as Verizon and AT&T and I want to switch to AT&T and use my LG G2 that I got from T-Mobile.
I am planning to switch very soon after I receive the ETF reimbursement in the mail.
Will there be any problems with using my T-Mobile LG G2 when I change to AT&T? I have seen some specifications and saw some differences between the T-Mobile and AT&T G2's. Will I still be able to get good AT&T service with the T-Mobile version of the G2? I entered the IMEI# on AT&T site and it shows it's compatible, but was just wondering if it is going to have limitations.
I'm wondering if I should just sell my T-Moble LG G2 when I switch to AT&T and just buy a new phone(possibly an AT&T LG G2)
I use my T-Mobile LG g2 without any problems on AT&T. I did the exact same thing you are doing

Thank you for the reply, are you able to get 4G LTE data and get the same voice signal as you would on the AT&T version of the phone? I just don't want to get worse service than I would get if I got the AT&T version of the phone.

Wait did you just say "AT&T and I want to switch to AT&T..."? Lol. How did that convo go? You: "T-Mobile is jank! Why didn't I check coverage before I did this!?" AT&T: "Idk! Come to our network! Its what the cool kids do!" You "I don't know..." AT&T: "Oh come on! Do it! I want you too!" You: "Okay!!" And... scene.

The tmobile G2 is lacking LTE band 5 which AT&T uses. However my understanding is that AT&T had not deployed band 5 in many areas so there should be no issues.
I am considering doing the same.

I used my G2 on att and got LTE. You'll have to input the APN, but a quick Google search will help you find that. You'll have to pay the phone off or it will get blacklisted and you'll have to get T-Mobile to unlock it which shouldn't be hard once you pay it off.

sorry it looks like this message was months ago, but I want to ask what APN you used to get AT&T LTE to work on the D801. I tried various APNs I found from google searches and I was not able to connect. Using the 'phone' APN, 3G HSPA connects and the data works (a bit slow in my opinion, much slower than t-mobile). I changed the APN from 'phone' to 'pta' and it doesn't connect to anything anymore.
Furthermore, I went to the network settings to choose the network manually. The phone sees both T-mobile and AT&T for GSM, WCDMA, and LTE. When I choose AT&T LTE, it says that it cannot register. The WCDMA and automatically connect choices registers properly. I tried this for both APNs 'phone' and 'pta'. I also saw on some websites 'wap.cingular' and another APN I can't recall right now, so I tried those an no luck finding LTE on AT&T.
yes, this phone works on LTE and WCDMA on T-mobile. The phone was advertised as unlocked and it does work with AT&T 3G. The phone should support AT&T LTE on 700mhz, 1700mhz, and 1900mhz. I live in the Boston area, so I should be able to get one of these LTE signals...

[Q] Will a phone purchased abroad work on UK 4g?

Afternoon all,
I have an LG G2 32GB that I purchased from a website that operates out of Hong Kong (I forget which). I've got a 4G SIM however can't get a 4G signal, even in areas where I know others do on the same network. Before I start talking to O2, could the problem be a phone purchased abroad like this might not be able to use UK 4G?!? Is there a way I can check?
Thanks
nick
if your phone is LG G2 D802 Model , 4G should work

It says that model on the back. I've got the sim in at the moment and still no 4g in another place that I should get 4g and still no 4g.
If I go to network settings and look at preferred network types it only lists gsm and wcdma, should it not also lost lte?

Thanks this worked like a charm. When I set it to gsm/wdcma/lte I get 4g. Only slight draw back is when I'm in the office the 4g signal is a lot weaker so the phone defaults back to a 3g signal. However if I set it to LTE only I get a decent enough 4g signal, only problem with that is I can then no longer take calls! So set it to LTE only then back to gsm/wdcma/lte and 4G seems to stick.
Thanks again for your help
@nickhopkins07 can I ask what was your model number? D800 or D802?
I'm finally thinking of buying the G2 as its still an amazing phone and can buy a brand new 32GB for around £200 from abroador for the same price a used UK model. Because I believe the D802 is the EU model so should work without any problems in the UK.

Use Verizon or T-Mobile S5?

Hey Everyone,
My friends girlfriend dumped him and gave him back the phone he bought her for Xmas last year verizon s5. He gave it to me because my nexus just broke. It works fine with my tmobile sim, but would it be best to just sell it and get a tmobile version? Only thing that bugs me a little is the Verizon sim activation notice when I restart the phone and sometimes data will hop around 4G lte, h+ and h.
