Mobile ODIN Pro 4.20 issues - Galaxy S 5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I have a SM-G900F rooted with towelroot, SuperSU installed.
I tried flashing the latest firmware with Mobile Odin Pro to keep root and not to trip Knox. I put the .tar.md5 file to internal, open file, select that file, check ever-root, I performed the md5 check, flash. (I chose not to wipe anything)
It sayd "recovery booting", mobile Odin logo appeared and did some flashing and the second time it said recovery booting the phone got stuck.
The only option was download mode, flash the firmware with desktop Odin
Any ideas?

Wipe cache and dalvik cache when flashing, if Odin gives you the option to do that.

just for my information:
so is it possible to flash using odin and preserve knox tripping plus the everRoot will work?? and i dont need to worry about the kernel being updated?

Mobile Odin gives me that option. On my first try I didn't do that. I'll try again tomorrow and I'll let you know. Thank's.

I just tried again with "wipe data cache" and "wipe Dalvik cache" checked but this time it didn't even want to enter the first recovery mode. I have no ideea what's going on.

Firmware should be on external card

I'm trying to flash bootloader & modem with mobile Odin... Can anyone tell me what I'm doing wrong and why does it always delete all my data...

[Q] Does using Odin erase phone?

I am currently MJ7 root and I disabled the update notification because I didn't feel like updating to MJE at the time. I want to know first, can I just Odin up to MJE then kingo or I do need to Odin MJ7 stock then update via OTA then kingo. Also, will using Odin to switch to stock wipe my phone. I didn't feel like updating when MJE came out because its such a hassle to have to set up my phone again.
For updating to the current revision, either way is acceptable. And as far is odin wiping everything, I believe the answer is yes. I don't think I remember it not wiping everything.

Hi, you can use ODIN to flash the MJE then factory reset data in Recovery Mode and then Kingo...this is direct method...and preferred...
Follow this steps:
1.Download ODIN 3.09 and MJE Firmware Full Stock ROM 1.3 GB, Boot into Stock Recovery using Vol Up+Home+Power Button, Wipe Factory Reset/Data & Wipe Cache Partition, Reboot the device, as soon as screen goes black press Vol Down+Home Button to enter Download mode and connect the device to PC...then flash the MJE firmware...
2. After flashing boot again into Stock Recovery using Vol Up+Home+Power Button, Wipe Factory Reset/Data & Wipe Cache Partition
3. Use Kingo to root the device and make sure that Screen Display time is set to 10 Minutes..because u have to accept some confirmation while Kingo is rooting the device...
Of course if you flash a new firmware using ODIN then it will wipe the phone but not completely thats why it is mandatory to factory reset data after flashing firmware through ODIN...(but still it doesn't wipe the phone completely)
To completely Wipe the phone follow this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2610757
Make sure you back up your important files before flashing any firmware...
Cheers!!!

try booting your phone in stock recovery with pwr+up volume, then in recovery with the volume keys navigate to wipe data/factory reset and then wipe (or clear) cache, then reboot.

so i tried this it allowed me to get to the Samsung logo and this is where it has gotten
99% of the Odin problems are solved by using a different usb port and/or different usb cable.
Ps Did you use cf-auto root for rooting? That's the only rooting method that works. Because I never heared of cf auto-root causing those problems.

Well, you could try another solution that for others is risky but it's not, if you follow the steps carefully. Flash your correct firmware with odin 3.10 and check f reset time, auto reboot and Nand Erase All and Phone Bootloader Update. When flashing process is finished, the system will reboot to stock recovery and will appear an android repairing, after it it will reboot in Samsung startup but it will not boot, so you must boot to recovery with power+volup, wipe data/factory reset, and wipe cache again. Then reboot and wait, it may take up to five or six minutes approx.
i leave attached an odin version that is woking fine.
I hope it helps.
regards
* at last, maybe obvious, check that the firmware is appropiate for your phone e.g. if your firmware is i9505XXXXX and your phone is i9500 or any other it will never boot.

SM-910W8 suck on Set Warranty Bit: Kernel / Recovery

Hi all,
Using my Note4 the other day and it suddenly restarted. When it booted back up, its was suck on the "Set Warranty Bit: Kernel" screen.
I read that I could use Odin to recover the OS as I need the data from the phone.
I downloaded the sock FW from sammobile for my device and flashed it with Odin.
During the flash process, it failed on the modem portion.
When it booted back up, it booted to the "Set Warranty Bit: Recovery" screen.
I tried to flash it again, and it passed this time, but same results.
How can I recover my OS to get the data off the phone or is there another way to do this?
Any help is greatly appreciated.
Thanks.

You must wipe cache and data factory reset from recovery after flash firmware to avoid bootloops and clean os .i am not sure how you get data off the phone but for rooted users must make backup to microsd card or pc all data+efs+backup rom all the time .cuz things might go wrong at anytime.

cannot go back to stock firmware?

hi, Im actually on crdroid and I need to go back to stock samsung firmware
I downloaded G900FXXS1CPK1_G900FITV1CPJ1_G900FXXU1CPJ1_HOME.tar and I tried to flash using odin
stuck at SAMSUNG logo after rebooting (for a split of a second I can see a dead android with NO COMMAND written before SAMSUNG logo)
go back to recovery /(which is not TWRP anymore) and wiped data and cache. nothing has changed
I now have installed crdroid again but I need to go back to official samsung, somebody can help?
where did you get the tar file from? did it say completed in Odin?

a factory reset is just wiping system, cache and dalvik in essence. I always do a factory reset, wipe cacke, dalvik and system 3x each and delete the android folders if im just flashing a new ROM. Plus, hes doing an Odin flash, so wiping shouldnt be necessary, but deleting the android folders should still be needed

get it from sammobile.com/firmwares. Thats the only real place to get them. everywhere else can have untrusted files
odin does not wipe/reset
in stock recovery iirc theres no wiping data, so reset needs to be done, its solved many fw updates/downgrades issues via either ota or odin.
i usually wipe everything(Dalvik, System, Data, Cache) via twrp b4 flashing w/odin
while I'm downloading from sammobile (sloooooooooow), I'm tring to flash fw again
I'm still getting SAMSUNG logo problem...
tried wiping again cache... nothing
flashed TWRP and did wipe factory reset... again, same issue.
I did a full wipe before flash

the sammobile d/l does take FOREVAAAAR!!! but wait for that to complete and try it. im betting that your other tar.md5 was corrupt
15 minutes to go....
steps I did:
1: via TWRP wiped EVERYTHING
2: connected to PC in download mode and flashed the firmware via ODIN 3.12
3: booted in recovery and wiped data/factory reset and cache partition
4: reboot and...... seems to work fine (feared for a moment, took almost 20 minutes to start apps optimization)

Did I brick my phone?

Hello
I have sgh i377 from at&t. I would like to change my custom rom from ManuProN5_N5_ASTRA_ROM_Reborn_FIXED to GE-XXUHOD7-53. I
I installed busybox, intall safestrap and nc1 flasher. I run nc1 flasher and reboot phone to safestrap. I wipe data, system, cache and Dalvicache.
Then I go to install and add firmware, module and kernel flash OC4 and GE-XXUHOD7-53.zip. Then i press install. While install modules i saw an error with perrmision.
I tried install again and the same situation. So i reboot the phone and i think it was a mistake, because my phone stack on logo "sasmung custom". I have access to recovery mode. I wondering make wipe data/factory reset but I don't know is t safe? On recovery mode it shows me LRX22C.I337UCUGOC4.
When plug phone to PC it doesn't detect phone. No sound, no device in explorer, but Odin3 v3.12 detect successfully. Do you thnink I can flash it by ALL_ATT_I337UCUFNB1_I337ATTFNB1_505595_REV06_user_low_ship_MULTI_CERT.tar.rar ?
Is it any chance to bring it back to life? Please help and forgive my poor english.

You can flash the stock OC4 ODIN file if there is one. You might can flash NB1 in odin without bricking, but i am not sure. Or you can wipe data/factory reset in recovery mode and then flash the golden eye ROM .zip file from there right after. That should clear up the errors.
Tanks. Flashing by Odin with ALL_ATT_I337UCUFNB1_I337ATTFNB1_505595_REV06_user_ low_ship_MULTI_CERT.tar solved the problem.
