Thanks man, nice to see some info about this fantastic WP Device.
So little online about hacking the Icon or the 930 .. Would like to unbrand it from Verizon.
So, Have to ask can I unbrand the Icon and swap ROMs with the 930 ? While keeping the firmware (and 1700/2100 bands) of the 929 ?
On T-mobile and having issues with MMS, and other nit-picky things.
Also anyway to get full access to the engineer menu (ala 1520.. etc.. ?)
Last but not least.. I can download the .XAP for the T-Mobile Wi-Fi Calling, but it wont install is there a work around ?
Sorry if these questions have been asked.. But I search and could find literally nothing. XDA doesnt even have a forum for the 929/930
How do I even read those values? When I open the .ffu file with 7zip, I get a bunch of .efi files and then, inside those, .data files.
How do I know where the hardware codes are and how do I read them?

Thank you. Your suggestion worked.
However, I can't load the registry hive into my Windows 10 PC. I'm having trouble opening the registry keys to change their values.
Are there any good 3rd party registry readers?
Also, after that, how do I recompile the new changed files into a new .ffu file? Do you know?
Edit: Found this Registry tool: https://www.nirsoft.net/utils/offline_registry_view.html
Don't know how to use it though and which paths to select.

Does anyone know if there exists a tweak to power on my wizard when I open my keyboard?
My power button does'nt work anymore and i have to remove each time my sd-card to power on my wizard. Does anyone has another suggestion?
Thanks
Hi!
Try Settings->buttons->locks (don't know the exact menu items' name, as my device is in german - but should be close  )
You can set other buttons (i.e. messaging) to be able to power on your device.

Hi all!
I'd like to configure the std button to open contact and/or calendar in order to do some action (create new sms for example!) or open some app. when press and hold... is it possible?
Any simple app that make just that?
Markino: can you explain further? You want to open a particular contact, but in what screen? Contacts or calendar?
Or you want to press the contacts/calendar button and use it to send an sms etc?
V
Sorry, for my terrible English...
I'd like to press and hold the calender or contact button and associate the "press and hold" to do somethink like "create new sms"...
P.S: I'd like a easy way to create new sms.
VJPhoneTools will do this. There is another way, but they're both just as difficult.
You could also use the app on this forum, SmartKey or something, to give you a "new" menu on the Today screen, to create new sms etc. Very very good app.
V
Hi,
yes it's possible. And much more: http://ae.inc.ru/aebplus.php
- Run Application
- Emulate keypress of Enter (Action), Esc and up/down/left/right keys
- Emulate standard application buttons
- "Virtual Application Button": Being specified as keypress action, "Virtual button" appears in standard Start -> Settings -> Buttons setup dialog and may be assigned here.
- Volume up/down
- Emulate Soft Keys
- Close (terminate) active application
- Switch next application
- Task Manager with charge level / memory summary info. Task manager may be operated with directional pad (up/down - choose application, left/action - switch to, right - terminate) or finger/stylus. You may apply filters to hide annoying applications (e.g. Phone)
- Ok/Close
- Start Menu
- Switch Display Off/On. Once you switch display OFF you may turn it back ON by the same keypress event or simply pressing Power On button.
- Switch BlueTooth Off/On
- Switch WiFi Off/On
- Vibration mode Off/On (WM5 only)
- Turn Off PDA
- Soft-Reset PDA (Soft Reset)
- Screen rotation
- Drop DialUp connections
- Disable "Power Off device if not used..."
- Switch to Today screen
- Clipboard operations: Select All / Copy / Cut / Paste
- Memory Monitor
- Battery Monitor/Uptime Forecast. It will show battery voltage/current/temperature if corresponding sensors are available
- Current Date/Time
- Pop-up menu with important AEBPlus actions. This feature is available in activated version only
- Any built-in action may be initiated by shortcut calling aebplus.exe with corresponding command line parameter

Why not do it using voice activation i start my msgs excel and calender using voice activation
Hey there...hope this is at least a bit helpful..
I was digging in the registry and found this key:
HKEY_Local Machine\Software\Microsoft\Shell\Keys\40C6
There are these values:
BtnWnd - 0x0(0) - wtf
Flags - 0x9(9) - wtf
Icon - \windows\SDDialer.exe, 0 - hmm?
Name - Button 1(Hold) - you know where my point is?
ResetCmd - blahblah\Voice speed blah blah
WndCls - wtf
Do you think that this may lead to some mapping of the buttons?
Like the directory for these keys is called 40C6, what if other buttons are other names??
I am a bit noob in this stuff so maybe this is discovery like ****...but if it makes sense somehow then hurrray
Let me know waht you think....
Thanks.
You should try AEBPlus (there are bound to be alternatives, but that's what I use). It allows you to map all the buttons except the Home-key, you can also map different things to long-holds, double presses, triple presses etc. Oh one tip, if you are going to use AEBPlus, the back key should be mapped under the 'OK-key' in the program, adding the button manually (by pressing it and letting the software detect it) doesn't work for the back key.
ow shooots
I thought that this topic is still open...but as I can see there is a solution to map other buttons as well...
whoop, sorry for nothing then
Hi,
AEButtons is not really working well on my Blackstone.
It would be great if someone would find how to make appear the 6 'hard' buttons (vol up, vol down, red key, home, back and green key) in the buttons configuration at settings.
In this way we could assign the funtion we want, without having to use a resident program which may create conflict with some applications (like Manila).
I learnt that the back button is #405C.
Thanks

Hi there,
Is there a way to map more hardkeys in Opal? I currently only have "Button1" and "Button1 (Hold)" listed in Settings/Personal/Buttons.
I looked up the keys in registry:
HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Shell\Keys\
There are actually three folders/keys:
40C1 = Button 1
40C4 = Button 1 (Hold)
40C6 = Undefined?
Can I add more keys by editing registry? Anyone has experience doing this?
I'm going to try this old trick
1. install PHM Regedit (or any other registry editor)
2. go down to this location HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Shell\Keys
3. create a key "40C8"
4. Go to the key HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Shell\Keys\40C5
5. Select all values under that key and copy it
6. Paste it under the new key "40C8" you just created in step 3
7. rename it to suit a readable name like "Backlight"
8. Softreset using some app like psShutXP or pocket plus (and NOT using the hole)
8. now, you can configure this button as u do normally (for the rest of the buttons)
I'll just try some random numbers (eg. 40C1, 40C2...)

I tried the wonderful PQz_CHECK.exe to detect Opal's hardkeys. Problem is that I don't see them in Settings/Personal/Buttons after adding them to the registry with the method you find in my former post.
eg. The big "Action" button is presumably hardkey "400D". I added the necessary data to HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Shell\Keys\400D but nothing gets listed.
I think only buttons that start with 40Cx are listed in "Buttons".
Maybe someone can find a solution to this? I know there is AEBPlus, but I like poking around
It would be great if we could get all the keys in the "Buttons" menu in Opal's ROMs.
Is there an application or way to change the behavior of the HTC volume control? I like to listen to soft music, but with the volumebuttons on phone or headseat you can only change volume in steps of 3 stripes.
I always need to adjust it to the last 1 or 2 stripes manually through the touchscreen.
FOund a way to lower volume of the musicplayer overall which kind of has an effect, but the lowest volumes are hardly touched.
Have been searching for a solution but cant find any. Preferrably I would like to use a regfix in stead of extra software.
There is a registry edit you can do that will increase ringer volume. If you want to try that here are the instructions, follow them exactly, (at your own accord). If you do it exactly, you wont have any problems.
First off get a registry editor http://www.phm.lu/Products/PocketPC/RegEdit/
Install that on your phone, put the cab file onto your phone by connecting to your pc or mac, drag the cab onto your internal storage, open it, and install regeditor onto Internal storage.
Next, open PHM reg edit.
Follow these intructions: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\ControlPanel\SoundCategories\Ring (press the + sign to open each folder, and press on the word Ring to open it's contents)
in there you will see in the bottom half of the screen, something that reads InitVol, press that, and a new screen will pop up. Under Volume data it will read the number "3", change that (by using the up/down arrows), to something such as 7 or something and press OK, exit out, then restart your phone. Your ringer volume will be higher.

I think he is asking if there is a way to change the volume "steps" meaning, when you press volume up, it goes up quite a bit. He wants it to increase less.
Yeah there is.
Use the stylus to change the volume instead of the hard keys on the side of the device. A precise finger tap also works in place of the stylus.

Even you change the volume by just one bar in the backend it is still only 5 steps total. Windows Mobile doesn't offer smaller steps. HTC Volume just fakes it by using more steps but at the end it rounds it to the next matching volume out of the 5 possible.
