[Q] Getting random alarms on tilapia. Setting I'm missing? - Omni Q&A

Hi. I decided to try this ROM on my tilapia after using SlimKAT for awhile. I like it so far, but every now and then it sounds like an alarm is going off. I have no alarms set, and when I unlock the screen when this happens there is nothing indicating what is causing it. It will stop after I unlock but it's annoying. I've had this on both the builds I've run (starting 7/23-7/24.) I just updated to 7/25. I am guessing there is a setting causing it but for the life of me I can't find it. Any help?

I don't think so. It happened yesterday while I was gone and my tablet was at my desk. A coworker had to silence it. I think I may know the problem. I'm guessing a notification for one of my email accounts got set to an alarm sound. I changed them all to regular notification sounds and haven't heard it in a couple of hours. We'll see if that was it.

What "unlock sound".
Mine never worked before the recent OTA update and started working there after.
Hasn't stopped working, yet..

Same here...I didn't even know the sound existed till I got the OTA update. Hopefully it has fixed some of the other kinks in my phone or I'm exchanging for my third G2.

Mine works fine when I have the option checked but since I don't care for it I turned it off.
Mine is working

check: Settings -> Sound
There's a checkbox for "Screen lock sounds".

This is interesting. My auto brightness had a similar thing happen: it was finally behaving properly for a short time, but then started setting the screen too bright for the circumstances again. I haven't had a chance to check the logs to see what light sensor readings are triggering brightness changes since it stopped working properly again. I do know that while it was working properly higher light sensor values were required to increase the brightness than before the update. I wonder if these issues are related.

Yes, I know to change my settings. I just doesn't work for me even after reinstalling the updates. I've also tried reverting back to my stock launcher.
It doesn't even work for me. I'm not on the OTA yet neither, with the stock launcher.

Mines working fine now after the OTA.

It only started working for me after the OTA and hasn't stopped working for me since.
its working for me after the update. It never worked prior to.
Mine also works now after OTA "manual" update. Going on day and a half after update and still working.
Mine work.
I opened up the OTA zip, and the sounds are in there in the \system\media\audio\ui folder, so that was clearly some sort of update. In the Settings -> Sound -> Volume section is Use Incoming Call Volume for Notifications checked? Also, what is your media volume? If these are correct, then I have no idea.
Mine are no longer working. Worked for a bit and then randomly spouted stopped. Not sure what's going on
It seems loading up maps and using the turn by turn navigation brings my lock sounds back

Mine doesn't make the sound.. it never has, but I didn't get my ota yet

Display Timeout

Hey folks, I just got my nexus and was unable to find another topic regarding the screen timeout feature (admittedly, searching the forums on a phone isn't easy).
My Nexus 4 will not go to sleep. I have the screen timeout set to 30 seconds, and have had the phone sitting on a counter for 20 minutes, screen still ablaze. Has anyone else experienced a similar issue?

Wonder, why that's happening. mine goes to sleep in 30 seconds. IDK if you did this already but a good reboot might work.
Is your phone currently charging?
Settings -> Developer Options -> Stay awake
I don't know how but I accidentally enabled this somehow. Whenever I charged my phone the screen would never turn off. Once got left on for 3+ hours
Timeout Eagles
I've never encountered that
Could be due to an app.
I had the same symptoms -- screen would not turn off by itself regardless of what I had the sleep setting set to. I could turn the screen off by hitting the side button, but it would not turn off by itself.
Then I remembered that there's some apps I installed that had permission to keep the screen on, presumably even if it is not the active app on screen.
I didn't have time to figure out which one was guilty, so I rebooted my phone to unload them and sure enough the phone does sleep automatically now (until I load up the errant app again, I suppose).
Good luck.

Thread moved. Questions belong in Q&A.
It definitely sounds like an app, e.g. I have dolphin browser set so it always keeps the screen on so I can watch stuff but if I don't close the app the screen will be left on obviously when I put it down and forget it.
Thank you for moving this the proper forum. I guess it was just hanging app. I guess I was just over anxious since the phone was brand new. Now it has been documented for future users. Thanks everybody.

Bluetooth Issues

So, for some reason, my Bluetooth doesn't function properly as it should, which is weird, since my phone is still on stock, and the only modifications I've made are unlocking the bootloader and rooting the device. I also installed Power Toggles, but I don't think that's the issue at hand.
Pretty much, whenever I turn the bluetooth on, it tries for a while to turn it on, then gives up and won't let me turn it on. At that point, I have to restart the phone, and when it reboots back up, the bluetooth is on without me having to start it up. Then it works properly, but if I wish to use the bluetooth again the next day, I have to repeat the process of rebooting the device. Any ideas?
I had this issue when I Downloaded a FM radio app from the Play store to see if it would work. I just deleted the app. Went into safe mode then into normal mode and it fixed it.
Don't know what you case can be. But you can try going into safe mode and back to normal and see if there are any different results.

I had this same problem after installing Torque, and using it with default settings that auto-enabled/disabled bluetooth. After turning all that crap off it is back to normal.
I use bluetooth for audio playback and an hf/A2DP headset dialing via Motospeak, as well as Torque with a bluetooth odb2 interface, and it all works perfectly since disabling Torque's auto-bluetooth settings. My only issue is that it takes Motospeak a bit long to restore audio playback after a hf call command.
I would look for an app that you have that is the controlling bluetooth on/off.
I wonder if it isn't a software bug. I have the same issue but I don't have any apps that are causing the issue of atleast from what I can tell. I'm also unlocked and rooted.
I removed Bluetooth from Power Toggles. It's been two days and all seems well. Now we wait.

Nothing yet? I'm just curious as to whether it's just a few people experiencing this, or a lot, since there doesn't seem to be that much talk about it.
I use Bluetooth everyday on my way home from work just to connect to my Bluetooth headset. Out of 14 days I may get one day where I turn Bluetooth on that I don't have to reboot for it to work.

So we're on 4.2.2, I've went through safe mode and back a few times, and I've uninstalled and installed applications having to do with the Wi-Fi. Problem still seems to be there. It's just somewhat of a hassle to have to power down my phone completely, then start it back up, everytime I get into my car. I feel a hard reset mighttt fix the issue, but just looking for another way as of now.
My phone also have the same problem.. the bluetooth won't turn on.. stock 4.2.2 locked bootloader and not root yet.. anyone has a solution..

Weird GPS Problem

Hey Guys,
I´ve recently got a weird GPS problem...
Whenever an APP uses Wifi and Mobile networks to obtain my location. After a while I notice that the battery has taken a hit...
Then the APP which obtained the location is on the top and states that GPS has been used for X Hours...
Anyone knows this problem by chance?
Greeting cards is my anti-theft app. GPS started when my battery went below 14%. After that it didn't turn off.
Same happens for Facebook etc sometimes.
(Using location via WiFi & mobile networks)

Nobody got a solution? :/ I reflashed everything, didn't solve it...

Just remove the app and install another gps app. It is preventing your phone from deep sleep.

The funny thing is , it does go in deep sleep. It's not just this app it sometimes happens with other apps too. It stays like that until I reboot :/

Wi-Fi always turning itself on?? :(

Last night I installed a few toggle widgets. First for auto rotation then for sound profiles then the Bluetooth one and in the end for Wi-Fi.
However after installing the Wi-Fi widget.. I noticed Wi-Fi would turn itself on without even asking my permission. This I noticed when I woke up today morning and saw an unexpected amount of battery drain. I immediately checked and the Wi-Fi was on. I remember correctly that I had switched it off in night (which comes under my daily habits after hitting the bed). Anyhow I immediately got rid of that widget by uninstalling but issue still persists.
Can anyone suggest anything to stop phone from turning Wi-Fi on itself?
Below is the app and my Wi-Fi's advance settings.

By the way.. I must add.. My phone is totally stock. And I I have had no problems with any of the apps prior to installation of this widget.

Sometimes apps like this can be a little flaky. I have HD widgets that I use to turn on my wifi and it can misbehave also. I have compensated by having a app that turns the wifi off at a particular time of day. You can also set it to turn wifi off when the screen is off. Other than that I would suggest looking for a widget that works better. There is a ton out there.
It was my bad that I downloaded this widget. I don't want to download some app to ''manage'' Wi-Fi setting off. I want to make it how it was prior this widget installation... Turning on and of myself. Is there any way.... Without the help of another app or widget

I think i need to change KEEP WIFI ON DURING SLEEP option to Never.
Can anyone attach a snapshot of his advance settings in wifi option? Like i have attached above
I believe it's the "battery guru" app you have installed... that's primarily what it does, keep you on Wi-Fi as much as possible

Emmmm.. You sure?
Because it started last night after I installed that widget. It "never" happened before that. :s
Can u post ut advance settings page's screenshot? Just need to match settings.
Pretty sure... it was happened to me, I noticed it after the learning mode was completely

So far I think this was the cause.. Snapdragon BatteryGuru.
Go to the settings in BatteryGuru and turn OFF the "Manage Wi-Fi" option. It's been an hour I have turned it off and wifi hasn't turned itself on. Therefore, I believe this option was causing wifi to show up.
I remember a friend of mine turned this option ON (the same day when I installed that wifi toggle). I just realized that after reading QUIETLYloud's post. Thanks a bunch mate.
This will help people in future.
