[Q] Installing Pardus ROM (kernel related Q) - G2 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi,
I want to try my first ROM on my LG G2 D802 and found the Pardus ROM interesting because it has a lot of features built in I was going to try anyway (Xposed, camera, G3 keyboard, etc.)
In his topic I can find the following instructions for installation:
•Upgrade your Recovery to TWRP 2.7.0.0 or Latest Philz Recovery
•Backup your ROM (if needed)
•Full Wipe (Dalvik, Cache, System & Data)
•Install the rom.zip
•Install the KK Baseband ( Only When Coming JellyBean or AOSP Rom ! )
•Reboot
•Wait 5 minutes for system stability !
•If you loose ROOT after rom install, SuperSu 2.00 zip and install via recovery!
•Enjoy !!
Because my G2 is still on stock rom, I guess I don't have to install a KK baseband? When flashing the ROM, do I immediately also have the Dorimax kernel? I have no clue if I have to do this separately (and probably before flashing the Pardus ROM) or if this is done automatically!
Thanks in advance for ur advice,
Tom

[Q] Question about MS2Ginger

I'm currently running CM10.2 by Engle_Mars but I would like to try MS2Ginger 5. ( http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1931968 )
I've read the thread but can't really find some concrete information as to the installation steps. Do I need to install both the rom and the kernel listed in that thread?
I have the latest kernel: SPKernelR6+UP.7z (16.05 - New Revision! <Rev6>) and the v5 Rom.
In cm10.2 Do I just reboot to recovery, install the kernel, install the rom, wipe data/cache, reboot?
Thanks.

You dont need to install kernel from MSGinger thread. It is working with stock one without any problem
0. Extract rom to /sdcard/clockworkmod/backup
1. you must format data and cache to ext3 - you can do that from bootmenu
2. boot to recovery and flash this recovery: http://www.mediafire.com/?i1rcie7tf4y6rmu
because CM10.2 has TWRP recovery and it cant recover CWM nandroid backups
3. Boot to CWM based Recovery.
4. Restore the ROM.
5. Reboot , boot again to CWM
6. Now Wipe Data & Cache.
Thank you!

[Q] Upgrading from 4.2.2 to 4.4.2

Hi everyone,
I'm planning on upgrading my Nexus 4 to KitKat.
Currently I'm using PA 3.69 (4.2.2) with Franco Kernel and CWM Recovery.
1. What files do I need to flash for the upgrade, possibly with links? (I'm going for Purity ROM)
2. In what order should I do the flashing process?
3. Should I upgrade CWM before flashing, and if yes, which is the latest version that supports 4.4 and how does upgrading work?
Thanks in advance
If you want to install stock KK, you can download the factory Occam images and install via fastboot.
If you want to install a custom rom, you may need to update your recovery to the latest version and flash a KK rom that includes an updated radio and boot img.
So you think I can:
1. Upgrade CWM to 6.0.4.5 here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2198942
2. Flash this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2545838, since it includes Bootloader and Radio.
3. Flash this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2281607 (Purity ROM)
4. Flash any desired Kernel (e.g. Franco) and use Titanium backup to restore my apps?
U just have to download the Rom. Install it. Set it up. Then boot back into recovery and install the kernel
I don't think u have to update CWM. So just steps 3 and 4
I'm asking cause I am coming from 4.2.2 with old radio and bootloader and I want the most up-to-date ones.
And I am sure that just flashing the rom will cause problems... What do I need to wipe prior to flashing?

I checked the links. Your method seems to be OK.
As for wiping, you need to wipe data, cache and dalvik cache from the recovery when you flash the Purity Rom
Everything has worked flawlessly. Thanks!

Updating from rooted 4.3 to 4.4

I'm currently running an LS980 with a CM10.2 nightly with TWRP and either ZV8 or ZV7–they both have the same baseband? This was all the latest and greatest as of when I updated in December.
Now I'm trying to just to a decent CM11 or Pacman ROM, but I'm getting confused as I wade through disorganized threads with people with questions not related to my setup. There's a whole mess of downgrades and autorec and ioroot and other tools that I don't know if I need.
So I have CM10 and old TWRP, what do I need to do for a stable CM11?
Thanks a ton!
1. Download your rom and Gapps (usually provided on the rom thread)
2. Copy your rom and Gapps to your internal sd card (on your phone)
3. Boot into recovery
4. Wipe Data/Factory, wipe System, wipe dalvik cache
5. Install your rom first, then Gapps
6. Reboot
7. Profit !
As long as you stick with CM or other aosp-based roms, you're good to go. You don't need to do fancy things to have a working kitkat rom with root and recovery.
If you want a Stock KitKat rom, then you're going to need IOroot 2.5 to root your G2 and then use AutoRec (provided by cloudyfa) to get a working recovery.
That's it !
Edit: think about updating your recovery beforehand, it won't hurt and may save you from going back to square one

Help me Install CloudyG3

My phone specs are listed in signature
I have my phone rooted and have Philz Recovery installed
I have downloaded Cloudy G3 2.1 and KK Basband for my AT&T G2
The instructions say
Full Wipe (Dalvik, Cache, System & Data) Where do I do this from?
Flash KitKat baseband Do I do this from LGFlashTool?
Install the CloudyG3 Do I do this from an App like Rom Manager?
Choose your variant in Aroma I'm assuming this takes place during the above ROM install.
Enjoy

It would be nice if their was a video on this from 4.2.2 to CloudyG3
Thanks!
.
There is Q&A thread for Cloudy G3. Ask there.
The wipe is done in the recovery, there is an option for that. Then head to install and first flash the kk baseband, than the rom. but for me aroma works best with twrp recovery so maybe a change is necessary if errors occur. And for flashing don't unzip the files and check the md5 and variant version(for rom it will be in aroma)

Next time google it took me 5sec :good:

Unable to boot after flashing MIUI 6

Hey guys,
Im trying to get my G2 to run the latest MIUI release - however i've run into some problems.
Background:
- D802
- Running Cloudy 3.2 (L)
- TWRP 2.8.6.1 installed and working
- MIUI ROM - Author: gtbluesky Version: 5.6.20 (MIUI6) Size: 886.29M
So I boot into Recovery, Flash the ROM, Wipe caches, wipe data, wipe system, flash the ROM again for good measure, reboot.
At this point, the device sits on the MIUI boot screen forever - it does not boot.
What am I doing wrong here? I think, the issue could be that the ROM above is based on KK and not L, where as I am running L. Does this mean I need to flash the KK Bootloader before I flash the MIUI ROM?
Im going to attempt to sideload and reflash Cloudy in the mean time, but I assume that using autorec to flash a KK BL and THEN booting into recovery to flash MIUI would fix the issue?
Any help appreciated..
EDIT:
_ can access the device via logcat, and can use fastboot/adb etc. I'm now back up and running on Cloudy thanks to adb sideload.
