Thank you. About to take the plunge.
Thanks for the full file, made updating a lot easier. :good:
wow, not even on moto's servers yet, thanks!
There are a few interesting things I noticed. It's a KEEP DATA FXZ meaning it doesn't have the erase userdata line in the XML. It also doesn't include the TZ partition at all which makes me think they didn't update it for this release. Interesting, as I said.
What if I don't care about data? Can I just fastboot the files? Unlocked bootloader.
Sent from my Eclipsed XT1060
May I ask what the TZ partition is used for?
tapa'd on my moto x
Trusted Zone. On the RAZR HD and M a security bug in that partition allowed them to be bootloader unlocked. That hole has since been patched. Um, twice. LMAO

You can but the FXZ won't erase your data. It doesn't contain the erase userdata command.

Motorola device manager says that there are updates available for my razr m. I'm wary to update "OTA" because I dont want to loose root/bootloader.
I'm pretty happy with the stock ROM (still called motoblur?) Is there a stock rooted rom with all the radio updates and security stuff thats the latest version?
The only other android phone I had was a sprint HTC EVO. That phone it seemed would always have a stock rooted ROM based on the newest updates. Is that the case with the RAZR M?
Thanks for the help and any info that can be provided guys.

Yeah, take the update, you'll probably need stock recovery to do it, and then re-root or you can just flash one of these: http://batakang.com/ftp/?dir=devs/mhous33/XT907 . The first zip can be flashed in recovery and the other is for RSD. You'll need to root these too, but that's easy enough if you're unlocked.
Okay I have safe strap recovery 4.33 or something like that. Where can I download the stock recovery?
I seem to remember clockwork was able to hot swap recoveries. Would that be a good method for swapping to stock then back to safe strap?
Also, do I just download the OTA in zip form? If so, where can I find it at?
Sorry for all the questions and thanks to everyone helping me with this.

Yeah, I haven't found a stock recovery.img that's flashable. Just flash the stock recovery.img in fastboot, exactly the same way you loaded up TWRP.
I took the ota with twrp installed and unlocked BL. It flashed and at the end twrp asked if I wanted to fix root, I selected yes and kept root. I was wary in doing it by reading the forums, afraid I was going to lose root, but it stayed. I'm now using stock ROM with arrrgh kernel and seeder. Its running extremely smooth.

I was cleaning up & deleted it. Fixed.
Where can I find arrggh kernal and seeder?
Okay so because of a previous response on this thread, I took the OTA. I had TWRP, root, and unlocked BL.
After the update, TWRP appears to be gone along with safestrap. I think my bootloader is still unlocked but I'm not sure how to tell.
Can someone please tell me how to get root back and how to get my customer recovery back? I am having such a hard time with this phone getting it to work properly. I remember with my EVO I had it down to a science but I've forgotten a lot of steps and many things have changed since then.
I need like a noob guide I think lol.
To reiterate, got latest OTA. My bootloader is still unlocked as far as I know. Need root and custom recovery back. Thanks XDA.
Next is flashing the arggh kernal and seeder I guess. First things first though.
Should have used voodoo. Now just fastboot cwmr img & flash UPDATESU both on my goodies page. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2327340
You can extract the img out of the zip.
Using this would we not be able to boot Safestrap since SELinux is all that is stopping us?

Hmm. I tried that setup and I got constant issues with the dialer not working when I tried to place a call. Also issues receiving calls.
It worked probably 60% of the time.
I tried to run it on a slot and on the stock side.
Both ways was super finiky. I wonder if it was The ROM being the issue.
I ended up flashing back with RSD when I got frustrated.

There is a 3.65 for Verizon as well. I just installed and it's working fine it seems.
Edit: I should also say that when I say it's working fine, I mean it installed and I was able to boot into it. I also made a backup of my stock slot. Other than that, I haven't done anything. I would attempt to install another ROM into a different slot, but I don't know of any roms that are compatible (I haven't really looked). Still, it seems as though it's working fine.

Why?
Since T-Mobile devices can be bootloader unlocked, you could just unlock your bootloader, and root via TWRP and SuperSU. So why wouldn't you, other than not wanting to void your warranty?

Exactly not voiding the warranty. I just got the phone in December and I love it. But frankly I'm concerned of voiding the warranty so quickly. I can see the foam around the front camera is already sliding a bit and potentially could impact the camera later on if it does. But maybe it never will. I don't want to send it back in just for that when it works great you know.

And of course the OTA update is just an updater that modifies only certain parts/pieces. The SBF is the full rom.
Time to start prepping for an OTA. Memory serves, you need stock bootloader, remove root, and xposed to be able to take the OTA. Sound right??

Yes stock recovery is needed, but you don't need to remove root, xposed can be disabled, you need your bloat on there..
For more, see -> http://mark.cdmaforums.com/MotoX-OTA.html
Oh, and for anyone who had 4.4.2 on their phone, then partially downgraded (i.e. flashed only parts like system.img, etc from an older rom) successfully, taking the OTA now will likely brick you.
I SBF'd to 4.4.2 I'm rooted, have Phil's recovery but no xposed. Unlocked boot loader Dev edition
Based on your post I have two options.
1. SBF the stock recovery and take the update.
2. Wait till the sbf for 4.4.3 to drop and flash that.
Please confirm or let me know if I'm wrong and if there are any other options, do share please.
