A new Security Policy update got released about 30 minutes ago. I loaded on my rooted S4 and now no apps load at all. I've tried formatting the Davlik cache and cache filesystems with no help. Is there anything I can do?

I noticed in the Thread for CM6 that someone said after the update, they lost more memory.
I received an update notification from Clockwork advising that there was an update to 6.0.2.1
Now being a newb to all of this... do I just run the update? or will I need to do a full recovery, wipe cache, wipe dalvik?
(by the way, sorry if this has been asked... how do you wipe Dalvik cache, and what is Dalvik cache?) once again... sorry if i r dumb!
Will I have less space? Will I have to reinstall all of my apps again? What are the pros and cons of updating to 6.0.2.1?
Im currently running 6.0.0 without any issues other than the GPS taking a long time to locate.
You can just update from Rom Manager if you want. Just make sure that you have about 60-70 MB of free space before you upgrade, you will have stability issues and a low space warning if you have less. The update seems to run fine, but if you don't have the space and CM6 is running fine for you, I would say that you aren't missing a whole lot, just stay where you are.
If you end up installing, just wipe the cache and dalvik cache (in clockwork: advanced>wipe dalvik cache). After that you can just run the update and you shouldn't lose anything. I believe in the new update the dalvik cache is moved to the memory (or something like that lol), so if you're running severly low on memory, you should probably stick with what you have. If you have it, however, this new version is supposedly more stable, and might fix you gps problem.
Hello all,
the S4 is my 4th Android cellphone and I also have a few more other Android devices.
Since the last update, I have a few apps that crash to to the main screen with no error message once in a while.
I NEVER had this problem with any of my current or previous Android devices (except the S4 with latest patch, it was fine before the patch btw).
So before I wipe the phone I wanted to know if it was a common problem with the S4 and the latest update.
Thanks.
Note: The phone is stock + CF Root, thats it.
not a common issue no: was your update OTA? First thing I would do is go into recovery and wipe the cache and the davlik cache and re-boot. If the problem persists, you may want to wipe the data -- it sounds to me that the issue is some remnant data from an app that needs updating to the latest firmware -- I presume you've gone into play store and updated all your apps since the OTA update of the firmware?
Hi all,
thankyou very much for enabling nightly builds!
I have installed omni-5.1.1-20150630-hammerhead-NIGHTLY.zip
I have done it like fresh install, wipe data, chache dalvik.
But for some purposes does the OTA functionality not work. Even there are new nightly builds I get the message, the device is on a actual state, nothing to update.
I remembered for 4.4 it was necessary to uncheck Security within the OTA settings.
But this also didn't help.
Do you have any idea what the issue could be or is this currently not working?
Kind regards,
Chris
Same reason we've had OpenDelta OTAs get stuck before - weird things happen when the download server runs out of disk space.
We're in the process of getting a new server with more space set up, and also our server admin was away due to holiday stuff when we had the space run out this time around.
And how it works?
I have a Nexus6p that was been freshly wiped and flashed with stock Nougat running latest October build. I signed up for the Google Beta program and immediately got an OTA. I downloaded it and i pressed reboot and install. It said rebooting.... 10, 9 8 etc. When the countdown finished it just stuck at rebooting and nothing happens. I leave it for a minute and think it's going to reboot itself. When I come back after 2 minutes the phone still hasn't rebooted to install so I cleared all the apps from recent apps tray and I opened the update menu again. The update menu said your system is up to date. I checked the storage menu and the ota files were still on my phone because google play services was taking up 1.8gb. I rebooted the phone to recovery and cleared the cache. I also tried using apply update from sd card but it just said sdcard was invalid. I booted back up and the files deleted themselves, and the system update menu still said your system is up to date. I cleared play services data, and unenrolled and reinrolled. I have to redownload the OTA again which is a waste of time and internet. Any idea what happened?
