[Q] SGH-M919V Complete unlocking process [Request] - Galaxy S 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi guys,
being new to XDA Dev, I've read alot on these forums to see the community is indeed a solid one in knowledge and willingly helpful, which is why I'm asking a bit of a lot of informations.
Firstly, I've tried for a while to understand the process of the network unlocking of my phone, I'll relate every specs/infos of it further. It seems I'm unable to get into the ServiceMode menu - although, it seems I would need to flash to the ME2 modem with Odin, which doesn't seem to be a problem: only, from the researches I've made on those modems, it also depends on the model and baseband version. I'm a bit lost here, I only need to know what the process would be and if applicable to know what and where to get the resources.
So here's the infos on my phone:
Model # = SGH-M919V
Running on 4.4.2
Baseband version = M919VVLUFNB5
Sec software MDF v1.0 R2
I'd really appreciate any hints about the subject.
Regards,
Will Wax.

Please take your concerns to the SGS4 Forum (search for s 4, with a space in between). You have the regular s4, so you're gonna find a thread there with info you need.
now let us enjoy our s4 active forum, or go get yourself an s4 Active and maybe you'll understand.

Somebody did not take that left turn at Alberqurque!
There are many carriers and models of the S4. make sure you are in the correct forum to avoid creating a $700 paperweight

SGH-I337M Model Questions

Hello everyone, new user here - apologies in advance if I'm not following a rule or some related item. I've read the rules, etc, etc, but my mind isn't very good at retaining that sort of information so help me out if I'm doing anything wrong.
Two days ago I purchased a Samsung Galaxy S 4 and I freakin' love it. I've already installed a new launcher (Nova) and have done several changes to my device which puts it more into a zone that I am comfortable with, but after reading further into this I've learned that the best way to get the most out of your device is too root it and install custom ROMs. I'm heavily into the customization aspect of my devices and I'm usually quite knowledgeable about this sort of thing, however doing this on a phone is completely new to me. I've done things like Jailbreaking on iOS for my iPod (which was put to rest by this new guy), but on a phone this is all new to me, especially on a Samsung.
I'm Canadian and what I can gather from the various Q&A threads and various posts around the forum - is that the carrier and model number of your device are very important when rooting. I've checked and the information on my phone is as follows:
Model Number: SGH-I337M
Android Version: 4.2.2
Kernel Version:
3.4.0-897376
[email protected] #1
Not sure if more information is needed, but if it is, by all means ask and I shall provide.
Anyways, I'm looking into this all and I've found several threads - among which this one seems to provide the necessary information I need.
My question is, as is, and assuming I follow the instructions described in that thread, will I successfully root my phone without issues and be able to install/use custom ROMs, etc, or do I need to perform some actions such as downgrading my device firmware, changing something or other around, or whatever else may be neccessary? Or will I seriously screw up my phone?
Also as an added side note, my carrier is Rogers Wireless and that will be the only carrier used on the phone, do I need to unlock this thing or can I leave that as is? It doesn't seem like something I'd want to mess with, but will do if necessary.
Thanks in advance for any response! It's greatly appreciated, I just don't want to brick my new baby!

Hi,
Let me direct you to THIS THREAD
You are quite right to root your device with Chainfire's method for the SGH-I337.
Use the rest of that forum ,including the "Stupid questions" thread,to find more information pertaining to your phone.

[Q] ROM's With Different CSC's?

Hi Guys,
I originally asked this in the ROM's thread, over here
But i didn't get any answer, at all, so i was hoping someone here could clear the questing up for me.
Everything on the Custom CWM Flashable ROM matches my existing software verson apart from the CSC as found by *#1234# .
Will this be OK or will this brick my device? Any help would be really appreciated, i know there's someone out there that can help me out.
All the searching I've done on CSC's just tells me the differences not the consequences.
I live in the UK and i'm on O2, just need to know if the ROM will work?
Thanks in advance!
from my experience about my older samsung devices galaxy tab and note 1 it cause only factory reset your phone but don't know if knox thing change something about csc too.

[Q] How to sim free my s4..?

Hey guys, I've recently upgraded my gone and tried to give my mum my old s4 but it's sim locked. The handset itself is on the EE network n she would like it to be on Vodafone. The phone just asks for an unlock code when a vodaphone sim is in.
The device is a s4 i9505 currently rooted
Android version - 5.0.1 genuine
Baseband - i9505xxuhoa7
Kernel - 3.4.0-3996895
SE - SEPF_GT-i9505_5.0.1_0002
Build - LRX22C.I9505XXUHOA7
If you could point me in the right direction in how to unlock would be appreciated..! I'm guessing maybe a modem change could fix this..?
Thanks in advance
In the future please use the search engine.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2282683 should fulfill your request. Especially important is to read the last five pages, as critical information is found within them that is NOT on the first post of the thread.
That method does not work for me as it doesn't show the on off options in the secret menu..?
Because you didn't read the last five pages of the thread, as instructed.

[Q] I want to update to Lollipop! Help needed!

Hello Guys.
I have a Samsung Galaxy Note 3 (SM-N9005) UAE model. (LTE - Snapdragon 2.27 GHz quad core model)
Baseband Version: N9005XXUGNG1
PDA: N9005XXUGNJ2
CSC: N9005OJVGNH2.
Presently there is no official release of Android Lollipop for this model. I have bought this mobile from Kuwait and now using in India (Unlocked). I have searched on Google and many other Android forums about flashing Lollipop ROM using Odin but I have many doubdts regarding the procedure. I hope you kindly clear my doubts.
1) According to many forums and google search results - We can flash any country's SM-N9005 based ROM and it will not affect usage of the mobile in any way except that my baseband will be changed. Is it correct? If yes will it not really affect my mobile?
2) If I can flash any SM-N9005 based lollipop ROM, which countrie's ROM should I download so that I will not loose any options am having now on 4.4.2 Kitkat like 4G support, no battery drain issues, wifi or bluetooth connectivity problems or any other software related problems.
3) If I have any problems (If I upgrade to lollipop) can I roll back to kitkat again? If so how can I do it?
Please help me with these questions guys. I have checked sammobile site for downloading SM-N9005 based ROM but the site is too slow or the site itslef is restricting in terms of download speeds for free users. On my 20 MBPS connection am getting a download speed of 15 kbps. That really sucks. So can you provide any other alternative links for downloading ROMS (if available)?
Thank You.
Buy premium.
Noting in the world is bug free.
If you can't use Odin read again and again and again. Because even when you download it from sm.com you can see install instructions there. It is everywhere. Or watch YouTube to use Odin. Easiest thing.
You can use open German or any other country for 9005 other than Hong Kong. Same thing different names.
0 answers because it is boring to answer same **** again and again. Search the forums here.
Lol kenny1991
Have you even understood my question?
My problem is not with odin. If you didnt understand my question read my question again and again.
Btw thanks for suggesting premium usage!
1 it will not affect usage of the mobile in any way except that my baseband will be changed. Is it correct? If yes will it not really affect my mobile?

I have searched forum enough to find a suitable post. But none of them directed me exatly what I needed, for the fisrt question. I really can't find a post that says which country's ROM I can flash without any major problems.
If you can give me a link, I will be glad.
Thank you!
