[Q] What does the HX Camera Mod do? - Galaxy S 5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey everyone,
So in the android developer forums I came across the HX camera mod, and after browsing through the whole thread, I am not quite sure what it does. Does it increase the quality of pictures and videos? Is it worth flashing?
If anyone could explain in some detail that would be highly appreciated!

[Q] Android 4.1.2 camera apk for Nexus 4

gang, I have searched the forums before posting this question, if its already been answered, i sincerely apologize.
The Camera apk with Android 4.1.2 has the option to select picture quality going upto super fine, which increase the picture quality by a lot. Can anyone post the camera apk for Nexus 4 from that build?
Thank you! Stay blessed!

Nexus 4's first firmware was 4.2.1, so we don't have that 4.2.1 camera apk. sorry man, try using galaxy nexus 4.2.1 camera, but I don't think it will work well...
If your rooted, flash the camera on cm10.1 it has those options, I believe

Alternative Camera App

So the very popular iOS camera app, Camera Awesome, recently made its way to Android, and Nexus 5 support was added in a recent update. I decided to check it out and the amount of features in this app are impressive and the app does not lag as much as the stock one after taking a photo (for those with restless dogs or babies, I HIGHLY recommend using this app!)
Overall, it has provided a much better camera user experience, I'd suggest this to everyone who isn't enjoying the current stock camera app. I know Google is working on an update to fix the camera app but Camera Awesome is definitely worth checking out!

Jishnu vs xdabbeb camera mods

I am trying not to be one of "those" guys... I have been trying read through the 2000+ posts in each thread. What specifically are the differences between the 2 camera mods? They seem to do the same thing. I have installed them both. I can't tell a difference. Is it a preference thing like Nova and apex, or are there features that people have found work in one vs the other. Any help or pointing me to somewhere other than the OPs of both forums that would be great!
I'd like to know this as well. I'm currently using xdabbeb and personally I don't see a huge improvement over stock.

Stock camera on stock rooted kk is the best for me. Imho

Is see no difference , but xdabbeb mod is much more better in my mind cause its all in one app. Also there are many script codes that are taken from xdabbeb cam mod to jishnu's mod. In my mind thats copying so i think for now they are the same until xdabbeb update his mod

jishnu updates more often than xdabbeb but the best one is gpro2 or gflex rom ports cameras.
i am using cloudypro 2.0 and magic focus,4k video and 720p slow motion works like a charm. other mods does not contain magic focus, and super slowmotion does not work properly on them.

[REQ] G2-optimized GoogleCamera

Hey folks!
The recently published new camera app from Google has some nice features. Unfortunately, as many other camera apps for the G2, this camera app lacks in picture quality in comparison to the G2 stock camera and its derivatives...
I'm not a developer but I thought that maybe it would be possible to modify the GoogleCamere to shoot better pictures using our beloved G2...
What do you think?
Bye, Spatz

Why not just use one of the posted g2 camera mods? They're already optimized.

Because,
1. most of them are only updated for stock roms and
2. the don't have those nice new functions like focus control, that the new GoogleCamera offers...
The camera mods change more than just the camera app.
I find the Google camera just as good as far as basic photo quality.

Most of the optimisations in the camera of OEM phones is in the app, but many are in the Kernel. Without both you will never get the same level of quality.
Porting them over is just not possible since its not just about settings, but also drivers and often you will not get the benefit of the drivers without the OEM app.
I wouldn't mind only a mod to select 16:9 for pictures instead of only 4:3 formats.

Samsung Touchwiz Boosters?

Hi guys in the default video and gallery app of a S4, S5 or any samsung phone the colour and details goes damn sharp when watching a video or movie. It's clearly noticeable on full brightness. I recently installed cm12 and saw that those boosters are not in those roms. Is there anyway I can get those boosters back cause I do a lot of movie watching on my phone?
