Recently i have got a proximity sensor broken nexus 4 and i tried to update it to kitkat and i was failed. Also tried with a custom rom but failed again. can someone please acknowledge me how to update proximity sensor broken nexus 4 to kitkat?. Does not matter whether the rom is stock or not.
Did it stop working all of a sudden? Was it working before?
If it stopped working all together the sensor itself is broken and no update or rom will make it work.
If it didn't work at all. No ROM or update will make it work.

I guess what OP wanted to say was that he wants a ROM to upgrade his N4 to Kit Kat.
Yeap thats true i need to update my phone to latest android version dont care much about the proximity sensor.

I flash the JP2orJPC, the proximity sensor does not work, initially thought it was caused by software, but I restored the factory settings, the problem still exists, but I flash back to JH1, close to the sensor on the restoration to normal
I don't understand... once you flashed back to jh1, the problem has been solved?...
i've the same issue on jpc, just being careful lol. works fine on older fw
Then a different subject should be suggested... i.e "after upgrading to JPC, my proximity sensor has stopped working".

So, i got the 4.3 OTA update done yesterday. It run smoothly but the motion sensors are not giving any info anymore !
My config is : Nexus 7 3g - Stock Rom - Rooted
I checked the sensors with different apps, they seems to be recognized by the system but nothing coming out of it.
No more accelerometer ,giro or magnetic sensor.
The other sensors work fine (light,GPS) as all other parts of the system (as far i know)
Any one facing the same issue ?? and more important ... does anyone have a solution?
Should I rollback to 4.2?

Hello! i got Nexus 4 with Android Jelly Bean 4.3 it was work perfectly, sometimes i dropped it but it still working, but after upgrading to kitkat 4.4.2 exactly when i drop it the camera problem begins i though its a hardware problem but from time to time the camera works 5 or 10 min and back to say CAN'T CONNECT TO THE CAMERA i tried everything with no solution from hard reset the phone to install custom roms and root unroot unlock the bootloader to lock it install stock 4.2.2 and 4.3 and 4.4 and 4.4.2 all of that doesn't work but im sure the problem in the 4.4.2 kitkat cuz all who has nexus 4 or 5 are complaining this problem after upgrading to kitkat 4.4.2 sorry for my bad english and i hope find a solution nearly thanks!

Find the Camera app in Apps, and clear the data & cache. Reboot. If it doesn't work, i think it's hardware.

i did that more than 100000000 time and i went into safe mode :/ and with no result and its not hardware problem cuz from time to time the camera works for 10 or 15 min and back to the problem :/

Hi, I got a problem with fingerprint sensor since buying my phone (it was bought as used). Seller did a hard reset before selling phone claiming that fingerprint sensor was fully working. I was trying to add my fingerprint. Sometimes it worked, sometimes I saw error saying that my fingerprint sensor is not working and I should reboot my phone to fix that - of course it didn't help. Hardware test (*#06*#) sometimes showed proper version of the sensor, sometimes 0.0.0.0.
So I tested few custom roms, but it didn't fixed my problem. It actually made it worse. Before testing custom roms I was able to find 'fingerprint' app/service in all apps. I couldn't find it on custom roms so I came back to newest stock, installed all updates and updated all apps and still I can't find this app/service/whatever it is.
Is there any way to get this back or something?
If you used aosp based custom roms then they wouldn't have had the fingerprint service.
What rom should I get to make this work?

Sounds like it, try doing a full reflash.

Full reflash is wiping data in recovery then flashing ROM with odin? I did it and still nothing.
EDIT: Ok I got it now in all apps. However hwtest says fingerprint's version is 0.0.0.0 and I can't add my fingerprint in settings. Any advice?
I have very strange problem. I had in my hands two S5 and I decided to sell mine and keep the other because it was newer. So I decided to root the other the same way I did mine and install the same Rom. Everything goes fine but on the other Fingerprint scanner doesn't work, however it is functional because on the other Rom it works. The only difference between devices was that mine was rooted on 4.2 and this one on 5.0. Maybe that's why. Otherwise I.have no clue what to do. I guess stick with my old S5.
If you are using a stock based rom rooting should not effect fingerprint scanner.

Are you rooted on a stock firmware? We need more details as to how you configured your device after rooting. Fingerprint scanner shouldn't be affected as long as you're using a TouchWiz-based ROM or a stock firmware which is rooted.

So here is update. Basically only one Rom doesn't have the fingerprint working. It is XStore Rom. I can't figure out why on the other S5 it works, however on this that I want to keep it doesn't work. So far I've tried multiple other TouchWiz ROms and on all of them the scanner works. I would stop here but I got used to XStore Rom and would like to keep it. I think I should ask on the Rom forum, however it is closed since developer probably left.

It must be the problem with the previous firmware that the Android OS is 5.0. As the firmware upgrades, the bootloader upgrades too and O don't know the rom you tried to install but if there is a major update gap (like 4.x to 5.x), the bootloader doesn't match so that fingerprint does not work. I heard that fingerprint function is concerned with bootloader from the Darthrom dev.

You mean XtreStoLite? It is super debloated so you have to flash the fingerprint scanner flashable zip to make it work.
