I just changed a cracked display using a new one I bought on ebay. Everything went smoothly, but the new screen has all these stripes, mainly on black or dark colors. Whites are fine.
It also has low resolution, or atleast I think it does. Haven't been using my Nexus 4 for ages, but decided to try to fix it up.
The feel of the screen isn't all that great, and I'm guessing it's some chinese knock-off. The seller on ebay seemed fin though.
Is there anything I can do or is it busted? I'm posting a link to a guy with the same problem.

So if you think the problem is fake screen that selling on ebuy, i think best work is at last send them an email and report!

i have two vibrants that i just bought recently, one of them is mine one of them is my gfs, ive used mine for about a month now, hers we just started using today and we put both phones side by side and on hers the screen doesnt seem as bright, and like menus have like some brown color to them or just not as dark, on mine they are black like solid black, mine received an update idk if thats it?
any help is appreciated
You can try to exchange her phone as I don't think it has anything to do with a software update most likely it's hardware. I bought an iPhone for myself and then after 2 days bought another iPhone for my wife and mine was far less bright and also had a yellowish tinge on the screen while hers was very bright and had a cool blue tinge. Best thing would be for your gf to exchange her phone while she can.
identical settings? (no auto adjust)
screen protector?
different roms?
i have also noticed this. In my situation, i called in and replaced my old vibrant because i complained about a lag so they sent me a new one which was cover under warranty! when i received the new one I quickly put in my spare batteries in it and turned it on. First thing i noticed was the color of the screens. my old vibrant had more of a tan/brown hue when compared to the new one. The new one had more of a blueish hue to the screen. i tried fixing the brightness but that didn't fix it. so i had to decided to go with the old brown one or new blue one. of course i chose the new blue one but i was concerned that i would have an off color screen. a couple of weeks after shipping the old one back i discovered that when you open the video player and start playing any video..press the menu button, then press settings, then color tone! dont know if this setting carries onto the rest of the phone...hope this helps!
I've noticed that screen of my Xperia Play is darker in 2 places. This is only noticable when screen is whole in one color, especially white or light gray (irregular illumination). I wonder if there is something wrong with the LCD of my phone, or those models just are not perfect. You can check your screen using some free Android app from Market, ie. LCDTest.
Did anybody noticed similar problem to his/her phone?
regards,
Boomz.
The colors on my screen are perfectly even throughout, as should be yours. Sounds like you got a defective one.

Send it back for repair as soon as possible. See if they are willing to replace your LCD screen.
Please help! I just bought the Bell galaxy s 2 today and realised that in low brightness settings screen has a pink tint.
Does anyone have this issue? Its more visible in grey colors. When i compare with my galaxy s, galaxy s' whites are true white and galaxy s 2's white are pinkish tint on it. When the brihhtness is at %100 its not that visible but once u set it %0 it becomes pinkish.
Is it what it suppose to be or its defective?
Note: yes i played with background effect but it didnt help. I am running KG2.
Edit: I compared with galaxy s again and if I make the brightness %100 on galaxy s 2 both screens almost identical (although SGS2 still has little warm whites) but at %0 brightness when I pull down the notification screen sgs2 has literally pink hue
Why not anyone comment on this? 100 something views and no comments?
U guys all have sgs2. pls at least share your phone's display colors so I can know if something is wrong with mine.
Yep got it to and also pink on camera also mine going back to Amazon tomorrow had two in a week with same problem Ive got one ordered from another retailer ... but I think its a inherent fault

Are you saying your whole screen looks rather pinkish ? I've seen couple of devices that were pretty much reddish when showing white, but i think that's not normal. You should replace it.

Yes whole screen has a reddish tint. Especially grey colors. Instead of grey it displays reddish. If i compare Gmail app with Sgs side by side, my screen has ridiculously pink color.
I wonder if its a software issue or hardware? Cuz I remember in sgs hardcore's kernel he made an.option to change the colors.
This is my second sgs2. First one had a dead pixel. So I didnt wanna go right away and change it. I wanted to ask yours.
More input will appreciated.
I uploaded a pic SGS and SGS2 side by side displaying Grey Graident Colors. what do you think?
If your phone looks like the one on the right, get it replaced. No rom/firmware will make it look good.

I'd take the lack or response to mean that it's not a problem experienced by many people. If your read the threads talking about the display, you'll see there's wide variations in color temperature. Cool/blue seems to be normal while there are reports of phones leaning toward warm/yellow. Pink hasn't been reported a lot so I'd exchange the phone.

I am also from India and I dont have any such problem with my sgs2...
My girlfriend and I have the same german sgs2 (dbt) and mine has a bit of a greenish tint whereas hers had a but if a reddish tint. You can't notice it when using the phones alone but when you put them side by side you can notice it a little bit, but really not that much. Seems to be an AMOLED thing. Maybe I'll manage to take a photo for you.

Thanks a lot for that image. I have been wondering what people were talking about when they mentioned pinkish screen...
Luckily I don't seem to have that problem. It seems like there are a few defective screens out there.
perhaps supercurio will have a voodoo colour fix with the sgs2 whenever he releases it. It fixed the tinge on the original sgs. Look it up if u are unfamiliar with it
I changed the phone today and got a new one. Its better now and significany less pink color.
Also I discovered something that the pink tint is only visible when u look at the screen 90 degrees. If u tilt the phone a little (5-10 degrees) to left-right or up-down and view like that the color turns normal (like my year old sgs).
It made me realise that this is a screen coating issue (maybe coating causes polarisation). So do u think this will go away with the time of use?
When I turn off the screen and check it under light by tilting I can see a little purple glare.
What do u think?
I got a white note 10.1 on thursday from john lewis after really wanting the grey but I thought they didnt stock it , it was smooth and the screen was perfect
I spoke to a colleague who said tgey did the grey so I went and swapped it wow what a mistake .
The s pen isnt as responsive , the grey lags and I have really bad screen bleed which ive enclosed in a pic
Question do the grey and white have different sceen manufacters ? Or am I unlucky
Ive emailed john lewis to tell them and gonna swap it back to the white one I had
Thought id share the screen bleed

Makes me wonder where you folks are getting all these devices with issue. I got my gray 32GB Note from Amazon and it's perfect. No bleed, creaking, or flex. Great device.
My Grey one is perfect too,So glad i returned the Asus TF700 for this tablet which came with dead pixels
I'd say you're just unlucky. Screen bleed is pretty rare on this device, unlike other devices like the ASUS Transformer series or some (but not all) of the Acer Iconia series.
I personally prefer the look of the white, and it matches my white Galaxy S2 (which I think is beautiful).
I have had the Note 10.1 since Oct 25th and have had no issues until today. I have light bleed on the upper left corner that I never noticed until now. I noticed it only because I was watching Hulu. I may end up returning it since I hate light bleed. I had a lot of experience coming from the Prime and Infinity its not as bad as those but still annoying to see.

Get it replaced it is a faulty piece it could have happened with a white one also nothing major, I think light bleeds are something that is constant nowdays wonder why because which the technology leaps this should be something that should never happen at the same time something that does not affect the device
i have note 10.1 white and made in korea
i have small light bleed in the corner behind home button , but i cant see it only can see in very black screen other than that my tablet is very good with good quality
To all who have screen bleed issues, screen bleed and the un uniformity of black color is normal for LCD panels up to a certain limit so not any bleed is considered a defect , only bleeds that make white cloud on colorful backgrounds is considered a defect

I have had a 16gb N7 for several months and have just purchased a 32gb 3g N7
The screen on the new tablet has a distinctive yellow tint and is lacking in definition.
I have read around these forums about yellow/blue tints but was wondering if newer models are now all emerging as yellow or whether or not it is still a lottery.
I would especially like to hear from other 3g owners as to their experiences
Cheers
Baz
I have attached a picture of both tablets side by side running at the same brightness, the picture does not show the tint very well but clearly shows the definition issues
Release day 3g here and it's not yellow. The thing seems a hell of a lot better than my old 16g which I got a refund on due to screen lift.
Mine is definitely NOT yellow.
Looks like it's RMA time.
My 16gb looks so crisp compared to my 3g.
Mine is having same yellow tint...do i need to get it replaced or it's a common issue with 3G one?
Sent from my Nexus 7 using xda app-developers app
I had the same problem with my iPhone and Apple's reply was that they use different manufacturers so some times things vary from one manufacturer to another and there's nothing they can do since there's nothing really wrong with the device. I'm sure it's the same time case with Google.

This is what I am trying to ascertain, I have tried to accept it they way it is but every time I use it the colours look too yellowy and bloom. I have compared to my N4 & old N7 and the difference is like night and day.
Mine looks pretty good. The colours are softer than my Galaxy Nexus but that is to be expected because Super AMOLED tends towards the blues and has overblown colour contrast.
My 3G is certainly yellow when put alongside my original N7 16GB. The screen seems to lack the 'bite' of the older device.
I've posted a seperate thread trying to find out if the newer non-3G 32GBs have the same problem. I may return and opt for a 32GB with a MiFi.
Just got my replacement from google, not yellow this time....but has one stuck pixel.
Trying dead pixel apps in the hope it will resolve.
I have an N7 3G I ordered on release day and it has no screens issues at all (no yellow tint or lifting).
RMA number 2:crying:
