Dont even think of rooting it the way you root note 2 via Odin. Basically, what you do with odin is that you flash a custom kernel on the device that supports root. But there are no custom kernels available for this phone as of yet (I'm sure they will come in future though). And flashing Note 2's kernel on this device will simply brick it.
None of avialable methods are working for Galaxy Grand of my friend
I tried
Root_with_Restore_by_Bin4ry_v18
SuperSu_GS3_Debugfs_r2b
flashing through stock recovery
RootTransmission
None of them seem to be working
Only way is have custom cmw or twrp made for grand and flash from cmw recovery to get root access and push SU and BB
unless some developers step in ,its not possible to have root
Either bootloader is locked or current way of rooting is patched ,
only method would be flashing insecure kernel or custom recovery to flash file from the phone itself
Dont ever try flashing cmw recovery of s duos or note 2 or s3,it will brick your phone

biggest flaw of Galaxy grand is its not able to use Microsd card for games data and app data, its needs to be rooted to swap the ext sd to int sd
Otherwise with 4gb memory, its usefull for nothing

I am not a dev but I have been reading many forums as I am new to xda and its kinda interesting
here is the link for a stock odin flashable firmware

if I am not wrong we can extract kernel from PDA.tar and modify it with TWRP or CWM and we can normally flash superSU to get root ..am I saying it correct?(1st time saying such things)
(sorry for not posting links properly because I don't have 10 posts)

Have you tried rooting the orthodox way? via adb. That's what we used to do in eclair days. Might still work.

Yes, what you're saying is totally correct, and that's how custom kernels are made. But the problem is modifying the kernel or recovery is not so easy and requires a big time professional.

all the above scripts use adb shell to push the su binary and su apk to mobile
it getting error Permission denied.
System is not accessible.
I am not a dev, ordinary noob, So my little reading made me think that bootloader is locker or samsung patched the loophole that allowed jellybean and ics phones gets rooted with adb shell from pc
as those methods work perfectly for galaxy s2 and s3.
Only way is to temp recovery with cmw or twrp and change the signature verification settings and flash via cmw recovery
or flash insecure kernel with cmw and root at same time
Even flashing a cmw isnt easy,as i was reading that s duos has script which deletes cmw after first reboot after cmw flash via odin,so we need to remove battery-
as you told building insecure kernel with cmw is expert material, any small mistake will brick and grant admission of phone to samsung service station right away.

Re: [Q]New forums for Samsung galaxy grand GT-I19082
Another limitation (also seen in s3) is the lack of support for USB mass storage. Why?
My old galaxy R running ICS, had mass storage support.
I'm really mystified at this.
Is this a Samsung issue or a Android/Jellybean issue?
I mean what's the point of releasing a top hardware phone and then tying the users hands by including no support for apps to SD card, and a basic feature like Mass storage?
You give us a phone capable of running Nova 3, only problem is you can't install Nova 3 because of the pitiful memory and no way to move it to SD card.
What do they think we should with the phone-just use it for calls and SMS?
It's only because of devs, that our Android phones are actually usable, that Android has survived inspite of efforts of Samsung and the like to throttle it.
In fact no point in buying an Android phone these days unless you are equipped and capable of rooting and customizing it. And not every one wants to fiddle with their phone to make it usable.
Google / phone manufacturers must take note of this and urgently correct this situation. Presently they have become all too complacent.

Hey, downloading the rom, will upload the kernel shortly. But from my personal experience, decompiling the kernel is easy, editing it is the real challenge. Keep messaging some devs, maybe they'll help out.

Okay, wasn't aware about all the methods. And If you are simply trying to push the su binary and su apk to mobile without first obtaining the root access on shell then you will definitely get access denied message. Can you try THIS one??
Now, on a sidenote, I dont think samsung will even dare to lock the bootloader. Its pretty much the only thing that separates them from companies like apple etc. also even companies like htc are now making phones with unlocked bootloaders and world in general is moving towards unlocked bootloaders. Doing something like this will be a huge blow for samsung's reputation. And also i dont think that it was a loophole that allowed android phones to get rooted with adb shell from pc, more like a deliberate feature otherwise it wont take them 5 years to fix it. (android was released in 2008 and root via adb has been there forever). Maybe the root file system itself is a bit different in grand. I'll look more into it. From what I know, you cannot flash anything from stock recovery as signature will not match. so the only way to root other that adb is to flash custom kernel which includes cwm (or atleast stock recovery with signature verification function turned off) and that too via Odin.

May be grand has little more complicated for normal people like me with stock jb.
Devs must comein n help.
With stock recovery we can't flash.
My doubt is why methods (not custom cmw or custom kernels., universal android root techniques)working with jellybean devices of samsung like note 2., s2,s3 but grand is resistant.

I have just managed to locate cwm files and contacted a friend who will help just waiting for someone to give the kernel! !
Ive tried using every android based one click root method conceivable and still no success rooting. Model Number of course is SM-S975L. I just bought the thing at walmart yesterday and as I understand it's kernel version is causing incompability issues with towelroot (which with extensive research it appears that towelroot is my best option.) and of course root fails (Also tried changing modstrings method). Ive even tried countless Chinese root apps to no avail. I really want a new rom on this thing. (Straight Talk one sucks lol) but Nova Prime saved it somewhat...(like always). Anyway I need help here guys and any is appreciated. I will post screenshots of baseband, Android version, etc. Thanks in advance everyone!!
CF-Autoroot is what you need to root. Also, search the forum. We have an entire thread devoted to your device.

So try using towel root. You can download the apk from the intrrnet. Then install.and run the app. Worked perfect for me.
So far ive gained root, and made the first custom rom for the galaxy core prime, ill be compiling a custom recovery for this device when i get my linux PC buil environment set up again.
for ANYONE who wants to root use kingroot(not kingoroot)
exactly like superSU but seeing as CF autoroot/framaroot/towleroot dont support this device it will have to do until i release a root method for this device with superSU.
So here goes
ROOT - kingroot(not kingoroot)
RECOVERY - coming soon
CUSTOM ROM - revolutionary core prime(coming soon)
Thank you!!!
Have a core prime and always wanted to check out the Custom ROMs that came out. It's a SD410 so it shouldn't be as hard as if it were an Exynos (I know it is not easy anyways, but at least the Snapdragon makes it a bit easier).
Will read this thread and see what you make!
Thanks and good luck
Me
I would be glad to use custom recovery too ! Thanks

hi for what model of core prime?
I would like a custom rom for the Prime Core also
I have been searching for a recovery and rom. I rooted a while ago with kingroot and now I have trouble with recognizing the charger input. (Same charging issue with nextbook nx7 on diff charger). rebooting usually remedies this. I fear kingroot corrupted my kernel. I would love to replace it with a prerooted kernel.
Btw I'm using the s820c variant galaxy core prime from straight talk. It has the Snapdragon 410 as well.
Sm-g361h??
Does it work for the sm-g361h model??

im not a big fan of CM based roms, id rather build a rom from software built for that device and only for it then build from a source that is universal with reduced capabillities
Let me know if I can help. I got root with odin 3.10 but as we are all aware, there aren't many (if any) recoveries and custom roms.

hey mate woul you be able to link me to the recovery you are using? and what device is it built for? the way we can check this is make a full backup in recovery then extract the backup andd see if it has backed up the right partitions, if it has we need to check if its the right format, im sure i read a while ago TWRP backs up with tar and just mounts all partitions and wipes the needed partitions recursively, if that is true we wont have to worry about the format but we will do our research an get this successfully up an running
I didnt actually get twrp installed just the app though I'm js u can still boot into recovery with it. Sorry for the mis lead. I am working on the kernel that shiny side posted up. I'll let u know when I get w it

Hello guys. I bought a samsung note 4 running on android 5.5.1 and was ready to follow the youtube tutorials on how to root it..but i foumd out that it already has root access (i checked it on cpu z and root checker) but there is no supersu installed. I was just wondering if i could just download it from the playstore but im worried that something might go wrong. The youtune tutorials show that after rooting..it automatically has a supersu installed so i am wondering why there is none installed on my device. Thanks in advance. (I've got the n910f variant btw.)

Greetings,
Thank you for using XDA Assist. To get you the expert advice you need, I'm going to move this thread to the specific device Q&A forum.
Good luck!
Hi. This is a general question... Tomorrow I'm buying a J5 Prime SM-G570m, and it's going to be my first samsung device (and 3rd android device). From my experience, I know that Samsung always modifies a lot of their stock ROM, and many things that work in most android devices, don't work in a samsung one.
I've searched about the J5 prime and there is not much development or guides about it (I hope that changes, because I love to root and modify and install xposed), but in case I soft brick my J5 trying to root it, is there some easy way to reflash and get to stock ROM again and unbrick it?
I know this is probably a noob question, but I know almost nothing about Samsung rooting and modding and just wan't to be sure that anything that is not a hard brick can be easily fixed in these devices too. Thanks for any answers
Samsung Smart Switch, see how to flash/restore Stock Rom here

You can flash stock rom with Odin and root the device. Xposed only available on Android marshmallow. If you want to buy J5 prime and expect for custom rom support, you make a mistake. There's no active development for J5 prime.
