Dont even think of rooting it the way you root note 2 via Odin. Basically, what you do with odin is that you flash a custom kernel on the device that supports root. But there are no custom kernels available for this phone as of yet (I'm sure they will come in future though). And flashing Note 2's kernel on this device will simply brick it.
None of avialable methods are working for Galaxy Grand of my friend
I tried
Root_with_Restore_by_Bin4ry_v18
SuperSu_GS3_Debugfs_r2b
flashing through stock recovery
RootTransmission
None of them seem to be working
Only way is have custom cmw or twrp made for grand and flash from cmw recovery to get root access and push SU and BB
unless some developers step in ,its not possible to have root
Either bootloader is locked or current way of rooting is patched ,
only method would be flashing insecure kernel or custom recovery to flash file from the phone itself
Dont ever try flashing cmw recovery of s duos or note 2 or s3,it will brick your phone

biggest flaw of Galaxy grand is its not able to use Microsd card for games data and app data, its needs to be rooted to swap the ext sd to int sd
Otherwise with 4gb memory, its usefull for nothing

I am not a dev but I have been reading many forums as I am new to xda and its kinda interesting
here is the link for a stock odin flashable firmware

if I am not wrong we can extract kernel from PDA.tar and modify it with TWRP or CWM and we can normally flash superSU to get root ..am I saying it correct?(1st time saying such things)
(sorry for not posting links properly because I don't have 10 posts)

Have you tried rooting the orthodox way? via adb. That's what we used to do in eclair days. Might still work.

Yes, what you're saying is totally correct, and that's how custom kernels are made. But the problem is modifying the kernel or recovery is not so easy and requires a big time professional.

all the above scripts use adb shell to push the su binary and su apk to mobile
it getting error Permission denied.
System is not accessible.
I am not a dev, ordinary noob, So my little reading made me think that bootloader is locker or samsung patched the loophole that allowed jellybean and ics phones gets rooted with adb shell from pc
as those methods work perfectly for galaxy s2 and s3.
Only way is to temp recovery with cmw or twrp and change the signature verification settings and flash via cmw recovery
or flash insecure kernel with cmw and root at same time
Even flashing a cmw isnt easy,as i was reading that s duos has script which deletes cmw after first reboot after cmw flash via odin,so we need to remove battery-
as you told building insecure kernel with cmw is expert material, any small mistake will brick and grant admission of phone to samsung service station right away.

Re: [Q]New forums for Samsung galaxy grand GT-I19082
Another limitation (also seen in s3) is the lack of support for USB mass storage. Why?
My old galaxy R running ICS, had mass storage support.
I'm really mystified at this.
Is this a Samsung issue or a Android/Jellybean issue?
I mean what's the point of releasing a top hardware phone and then tying the users hands by including no support for apps to SD card, and a basic feature like Mass storage?
You give us a phone capable of running Nova 3, only problem is you can't install Nova 3 because of the pitiful memory and no way to move it to SD card.
What do they think we should with the phone-just use it for calls and SMS?
It's only because of devs, that our Android phones are actually usable, that Android has survived inspite of efforts of Samsung and the like to throttle it.
In fact no point in buying an Android phone these days unless you are equipped and capable of rooting and customizing it. And not every one wants to fiddle with their phone to make it usable.
Google / phone manufacturers must take note of this and urgently correct this situation. Presently they have become all too complacent.

Hey, downloading the rom, will upload the kernel shortly. But from my personal experience, decompiling the kernel is easy, editing it is the real challenge. Keep messaging some devs, maybe they'll help out.

Okay, wasn't aware about all the methods. And If you are simply trying to push the su binary and su apk to mobile without first obtaining the root access on shell then you will definitely get access denied message. Can you try THIS one??
Now, on a sidenote, I dont think samsung will even dare to lock the bootloader. Its pretty much the only thing that separates them from companies like apple etc. also even companies like htc are now making phones with unlocked bootloaders and world in general is moving towards unlocked bootloaders. Doing something like this will be a huge blow for samsung's reputation. And also i dont think that it was a loophole that allowed android phones to get rooted with adb shell from pc, more like a deliberate feature otherwise it wont take them 5 years to fix it. (android was released in 2008 and root via adb has been there forever). Maybe the root file system itself is a bit different in grand. I'll look more into it. From what I know, you cannot flash anything from stock recovery as signature will not match. so the only way to root other that adb is to flash custom kernel which includes cwm (or atleast stock recovery with signature verification function turned off) and that too via Odin.

May be grand has little more complicated for normal people like me with stock jb.
Devs must comein n help.
With stock recovery we can't flash.
My doubt is why methods (not custom cmw or custom kernels., universal android root techniques)working with jellybean devices of samsung like note 2., s2,s3 but grand is resistant.

Hi..
My company deploys a number of these tabs and has apps that we write and test. We are aware of the ICS push that is coming out and want to do some preliminary testing on our apps before it actually pushes from verizon.
I am able to flash root and do almost anything to android devices but seem to be having issues getting it workingon this Galaxy tab. It is a model sch-i905 with 4g radio.
I can get super user via many of the fixes but when I install clockwork recovery via the rom manager it kills the recovery mode. From there I have to flash the stock recovery/rom with Odin which restores the issue.
I need to get to recovery to flash a ICS rom so that I can test the app. Does anyone verizon users know of a working recovery version and flashing method?
Thanks very much for your help..
Although I have not loaded CWM on my Verizon 4G, there are many posts warning users not to load from Rom Manager. That CWM is for WiFi only devices. Check out this article: Root and Clock Work Recovery for 3G and 4G Tabs
Hope this helps.

Extensive googling pointed me to this.
http://droidbasement.com/db-blog/
Which has a working CWM recovery file that I flashed with Odin.
Does anyone know what the best rom is to use for "stable" ICS Wifi testing?
Few questions:
Do you have a 3G or a 4G device?
Did you try using the files from the link I provided?
How did you get ODIN to recognize your Tab?
I am waiting for Verizon to release ICS before rooting so I can have everything working on the device.
Thanks.

never mind question 3, I was thinking of Keis.
Hi all,
I bought an unlocked Galaxy Note II GT-7100 (Android build 4.1.1, build number JRO03C.N7100ZCALJ4) from China. Unfortunately, due to (I suspect) the mutual hate between Google and the Chinese government, it comes without ANY google services, google account link, the play store, contact linking, maps etc etc. It does have access to a Samsung store, which is all in Chinese and comparably crap compared to the play store. But it does have all the useful S-Pen functions on it still which is good.
So, I wonder, how do I get this thing linked up to google. I have searched high and low on the web, of particular note was a page on Android forums which indicated other users having the same problem (I can't post outside links as I am a new user).
where others have the same problem. I have tried to do as specified by the very helpful poster, rooting the phone and installing .apk's manually but it hasn't been all roses and butterflies. I managed to download the .apk files randomly from the internet, but the versions were most likely all over the place. Eventually, I have got contacts synching (yay!), the google account added and maps. However, the big bug-bear is adding the Play store. I have managed to do it (after a few attempts and reboots google play store updated to the latest version), but now I get "Server Error" every time I try to access the store. I figured this might be because China was blocking it (they do that sometimes), but I tried over VPN and no dice. I did keep getting the error "Google Services Framework has unfortunately stopped working" various times, so I uninstalled it from the phone, which didn't seem to have too much of an effect, though I suspect that is a rather critical requirement.
I am wondering if someone can pack up their google .apk's on their phone from another country and post them here. I aren't 100% sure what .apk's we actually need and which are nice to have's, an indication of this would be good too
Cheers!

Possibly, I just didn't want to go down the flashing root yet as I can't seem to make a flash image of my current ROM (I can't get the NAND backup on the Note 2 toolkit to work) and can't find it on the internet. So if I flash it now, and something breaks on it, no warranty for me
As its a easy to un-root the phone and keep the same ROM, I figure, for the moment, that's a better path to take.
At the moment I am downloading and installing apk files to the phone, and using different stores such as Aptoide, but I would rather have google play store on there!

My concern with CWM (after reading their pages) is that it "overwrites the device's stock recovery", which I saw as a bit of a problem if I can't get the devices stock recovery back! I am fairly new to this, so I may be wrong about the effect it will have - I take it it replaces the bootloader options available... which presents the same problem - if I can't get back to the original state and I have warranty issues, I will still have a problem! Ideally, I would like to just install google play store on my phone. As it is rooted, I can't see why this should be such a big issue?
I aren't 100% sure these phones have generic firm ware on them, hence my reluctance to replace it too...
I take it from these responses, installing google services on your phone is actually harder than it sounds?
.. check from Sam mobile. .they may even have your present stock rom there

I have tried to cantact the place where I purchased the phone, but they are not answering me. So I guess sending the phone back is out of the question...Please help!

I aren't 100% sure what .apk's we actually need and which are nice to have's, an indication of this would be good too
Cheers!

Hi,
I have similar problem but can't even flash it. My version is 4.1.2. If you had success with 4.1.1, I will try and downgrade the firmware. Your urgent reply will be appreciated. Thanks!
I know i cannot install recovery and custom rom on this baseband yet, so my question is. Is it possible to root , and then install titanium to remove the bloats ? will doing this damage my phone when i want to factory reset it later ? . thank you
You can root. But do not delete the bloat. Only freeze with Titanium Backup

Depends on which apps your freezing/considering bloat. Its probably safer to unfreeze first before you reset in the event you accidentally freeze something that is required for the phone to function properly. Heres a list, BUT I didnt see which firmware they were using.

If you root on MF3 then your stock recovery will be corrupted. Factory reset through the phone will not work and make your phone in bootloop. There is no ODIN/factory reset at this time. So please be careful
Your best bet if you want to root is to carefully know what you're doing.
As for your other question if it's possible. Yes, it is possible to root but read above as I have warned you. Since you can root on MF3, you will also be able to install titanium backup to freeze the bloats. Do not remove/uninstall ANY of the bloats in case something goes wrong.
If you choose to unroot later: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=45340743#post45340743

Phewww..i followed the link and got the phone unrooted. So i guess i can factory restore now ? correct ? haha thanks
I unrooted my S4 before sending it back for a warranty exchange. I factory reset it and it worked fine.

I have been using CM as my OS since around the first stable release. I am now on 10.2 JB 4.2.2 Yet when I go in and look at my About Phone it says MF3. I have installed root for about a week and all was well and working with CWM (corrected) recovery. I even upgrade to a later version (corrected). Then some app (I can't remember which unfortunately) put on a different recovery with tiny letters - the purpose of which so it can script a full install so I didn't have to do it every step myself. When it installed it, I encountered the horrific blue letters of "Booting Recovery..." and it will not get past that.
I can't load any other recovery no matter what method tried, and I have tried many, and many different recoveries. I think I found out after installing the apk from the verizon section SAFESTRAP program some things. First there appears to no way to delete the cache partition. Both the cache and the recovery partitions can be empty. The recovery partition is not always empty but usually that is the case.
I have the sinking feeling I am the victim of what you said at first "If you root on MF3 then your stock recovery will be corrupted." But I dont see how this is possible considering I had CM 10.2 4.2.2 (corrected) when root was installed. But my symptoms fit what you have said above. Can you explain a lot more about what this is about and and details inside the phone as to what is known so far? I have a MS in CS so I have a good background, even though I am very limited on what I can do on computers today. Details!
I am willing to do most anything to get back to a starting point.

I have a samsung galaxy trend s7392. Since it lags when playing high end games or using heavy apps, I'd like to overclock it. I have already rooted it. It has JB 4.1.2 as stock firmware with samsung touchwiz 4.0. Since it's not a popular model, the developers might not have developed anything yet for it. But since this phone's look, feel, features and stock firmware are a lot similar to more popular models like grand quattro i8552, i9082, etc some of you could know what roms and kernels would work good with it. Please help. I've googled my hands off. Thank you so much.

You might have better luck by going into the i8552 forum and ask a developer there if he knows if it is compatible. They would know the best.

Hi, I also own a Galaxy Trend S7392 and looking for a custom rom. But I couldn't find one. To start developing a new rom, I tried building from AOSP sources. The build was successful, but while flashing it on phone, ODIN reports FAIL as soon as it starts writing system.img. I am unable to figure that out why is it so.
I am looking for some concrete steps so as to compile a ROM for our phone and flash it from AOSP sources specifically. If you have any idea about that, please help.

After successfully building a rom you need to flash the rom from inside of recovery. I'm not sure of the specifics of your rom for flashing. You will need to go to your rom thread for that and read the guids on how to flash it correctly. You will also need a gapps package. goo.im has this. If you built for 4.3 aosp they have the gapps there. If you built for 4.4 you can try these gapps. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2397942

Thanks for the reply atrus5.
My phone is currently using STOCK ROM for my Galaxy Trend. There is no thread dedicated for Galaxy Trend Duos S7392 so there is a little information available at the moment.
I am stuck on flashing the AOSP generated system.img to my phone. GAPPS will come a lot later .

OK, but I don't know how to generate the whole ZIP. Moreover,
ODIN requires .tar.md5 package to flash it. This is what I did :
1. Extract STOCK tar.md5 package
2. Replaced system.img with the one I compiled.
3. Repacked tar.md5 package.
4. Used ODIN to flash the tar.md5 package.
5. ODIN reported failed as soon as it started flashing system.img
Further help will be highly appreciated.

You will need to flash the rom from recovery.
First you will need to be rooted. If you don't have that you can find it here at this link. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2494471
You will need to have a cwm recovery. Here is the link to that. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2552935
Inside of cwm recovery you will need to factory reset/erase data, erase cache and dalvik.
Then flash the rom and gapps packages.
i don't know if your device is locked or not since I do not own this device. This is the best that I could find. I don't know if it works. This advice is for the i8552. Your best bet is to look through these threads to find what you are looking for. http://forum.xda-developers.com/grand-quattro

you can remove those bloatwares by just rooting and using root app delete to locate and delete. it will not only free rom but will also make your phone faster since the bloatwares that used to run in the background consuming cpu, battery and ram will have been removed.
Samsung galaxy trend s7392 folks use kingoapp from kingoapp.com to root your phone. it will surely root it. I've upgraded to galaxy i8552 quattro and the two phones are just a copycat of each other. so there are chances a custom rom intended for quattro(more popular of the two) could work on trend.

Hey first of all, after rooting you will gain super user access and ofcourse after that you will be able to remove any system app(bloatware).
pls help i also have the same device
I have gt7392 pls help me to put any custom rom available if u get any solution pls share with me.
Thanks in advance
I am also an unhappy user of s7392. It is indeed a laggy phone and to be honest, root (vroot)+ removing any unused application, including play store, hangout and google+ didn't help it too much. Phone is still hanging, lagging and sometimes not showing who is calling or, worst, not ringing at all.
An optimised ROM it will be really grate.

So far ive gained root, and made the first custom rom for the galaxy core prime, ill be compiling a custom recovery for this device when i get my linux PC buil environment set up again.
for ANYONE who wants to root use kingroot(not kingoroot)
exactly like superSU but seeing as CF autoroot/framaroot/towleroot dont support this device it will have to do until i release a root method for this device with superSU.
So here goes
ROOT - kingroot(not kingoroot)
RECOVERY - coming soon
CUSTOM ROM - revolutionary core prime(coming soon)
Thank you!!!
Have a core prime and always wanted to check out the Custom ROMs that came out. It's a SD410 so it shouldn't be as hard as if it were an Exynos (I know it is not easy anyways, but at least the Snapdragon makes it a bit easier).
Will read this thread and see what you make!
Thanks and good luck

I would be glad to use custom recovery too ! Thanks

I have been searching for a recovery and rom. I rooted a while ago with kingroot and now I have trouble with recognizing the charger input. hey mate woul you be able to link me to the recovery you are using? and what device is it built for? the way we can check this is make a full backup in recovery then extract the backup andd see if it has backed up the right partitions, if it has we need to check if its the right format, im sure i read a while ago TWRP backs up with tar and just mounts all partitions and wipes the needed partitions recursively, if that is true we wont have to worry about the format but we will do our research an get this successfully up an running
I didnt actually get twrp installed just the app though I'm js u can still boot into recovery with it. Sorry for the mis lead. I am working on the kernel that shiny side posted up. I'll let u know when I get w it
