I think this is also the reason that connecting to Airdroid only allows for remote connection mode even when I am on the same wifi and using wireless andoid sync apps that use http.
Any ideas on why it doesn't work? In adb it says it can't connect and in using browser method like Airdroid it just says the connection timed out.
Anyone know how to fix this?
Thanks

I have my laptop connected to a router with a Linksys wireless connection. I use Ipass VPN to get through to my work e-mail.
When I install Activesync4.1 it stops me getting access in Ipass. I have tried all options I can find in this forum but with no luck.
Activesync itself works fine when installed.
I have checked with somebody else at work who uses AS with a wired connection and it works. This isn't an option for me.
Try to change your network binding setting, move your Wireless Connect to the top
you can do this by Control Panel > Network Connections > Advance(from the file menu bar) > Advanced Setting.
Hope this helps
I actually have a very similar issue with my MDA. Basically my laptop's onboard Wireless B/G cannot connect to the router when the MDA is connected. I tried your suggestion and now the MDA won't connect. Seems like it's one or the other
Has anyone found a solution to this issue? This is the only issue that I have with my device. Whenever I connect it, I lose my wireless internet on my laptop. If I'm on a wired network at the office, I lose internet access but can still access the intranet. Any advice would be appreciated.
This has nothing to do with wireless. Its the ActiveSync 4.x network install that is not done properly if you have a vpn client running
I had this too
Solution:
Once connected via activesync open network connections
There is a new network connection there then for the WM5 device
Open properties ans de-select all listed items except TCP/IP.
Worked for me
Thanks for the response. I had found your suggestion previously on another board and tried it without success. I'm suspicious that the issue may be the Dell networking control software on my laptop getting confused. As soon as I connect my device, my wireless automatically turned off like it's found another network. I was hoping someone else who's had this problem has been able to solve it. I'd appreciate any other suggestions.
Thielsa same with me. unchecking all boxes didn't work and I'm using an IBM laptop.
Did find something on a microsoft newsgroup and it seems to be a known problem that hasn't been fixed yet.
Not having activesync is the only downer for my wizard though quite a big one doing system restores all the time
not done any testing on this but I use 4.1 and vpn in via wirless.
Try establishing your vpn connection first and then launch outlook. Then connect the device to the pc (via cable).
From memory it seems to be the outlook bit that gets around the problem for me.
I've pretty much narrowed things down to the wireless connection control on my dell laptop. I've been able to get things to work fine now on my wired connection. I looked at the log from my wireless controller, and when I attach the Pocketpc device it reads a wired connection and turns off the wireless. I think that this is specific to laptops (dell only?) that have automatic wireless controllers. Hopefully someone will find a solution to this as it's the only 'bug' I have left on my device.

i tried searching, but i get too much junk in the search.
when i connect using wifi, my connection keeps getting dropped, so is there a way to do it with USB?
thanks
Yes, AS by default shares the Internet connection of the desktop.
but its not working for me, i can't connect to aim with it or use PIE.
thanks
probably have to turn your proxy setting off.
how do i turn off proxy?
everytime i plug into active sync my phone gets an error like, ip address no defined or something.
thanks
I have the same problem is there a solution?

I think it is quite a common problem, come on guys can we get a fix for this?
Some of my data for you to consider:
Desktop PC connected directly to a router, Wizard, Prophet & Blue Angel all connect to internet via usb.
Laptop wirelessly connected to the same router none of the PDA's connect.
Laptop connected wirelessly to a different router (at work) again none of the PDA's connect.
Is it something to do with a wireless protocol?
Laptop and Desktop have slighlty different frewall software but I think I disabled it all on the laptop & still no joy.
Anyone able to use USB and wireless connection to connect to the internet?
I did see a registry hack offered by Dell, it relates to 'LS???' or something, tried it, no joy.
Any suggestions?
Try bluetooth ActiveSync instead of USB
Not really a fix for the USB problem but I can now do ActiveSync and browse the net together.
I have had a bluetooth dongle for the laptop for 'years' but never used it with the PDA. After some trial & error (about 45 minutes, not bad for me) I can now do ActiveSync with Bluetooth AND have access to the net THROUGH the laptop.
Speed is not as good as WiFi but it does work.
I read a tutorial some months ago on MoDaCo about setting up AS with BT. Suggest a search if you can't set it up by trial & error.
I can use my (unrooted) Nexus One to create a Wifi hotspot for my (unrooted)A500 tab and access the internet with no problems.
I have installed TeamViewer on the tab and at home over the wifi network all works fine, I can access my laptop.
However, if I try to use the hotspot created by the Nexus One, although Teamviewer reports that it has connected to the remote server ok, when I try to connect to my laptop at home I get a connection failed.
Does anyone else have this type of setup working OK?
Thanks.
Hi,
I*m running PACrom/stock kernel and I'm trying to make the following work to no avail yet:
I want to share the Internet connection I get on my N7 WiFi wirelessly from the router to my desktop PC via WiFi, Bluetooth or USB.
Although there are lots and lots of different apps regarding tethering/connection sharing on the Playstore, none has worked for me yet.
I tried FoxFi, Wireless Tether and so on, but nothing works. Either the app complains about the N7 being in an "unknown mode" and therefore refuses to work, or I can establish a connection between the device and my PC, but it stops at some poin, not getting an IP adress or similar issues.
Searching for solutions online mostly brings up this issue in regards to an Internet connection established via mobile 3/4G data, which doesn't help me at all.
Basically, my question is whether there's a solution which lets my share my Wi-Fi Internet connection on my Nexus 7 to my desktop PC, I don't care if its via WiFi ( would be my preference, but I don't even know if its possible to create a HotSpot on the N7 my desktop can access while still being connected to the other, Internet providing WiFi connection) Bluetooth or USB, whatever works is fine by me.
Would love to get some helpful advice/successful storys from you guys
Have you tried Proxoid? It's http only, basically a port 80 proxy that passes the http traffic over the phone's data connection via USB cable... I've used it on my Galaxy S3, but haven't tried to use it through the Nexus 7's wifi...
