Okay So I had posted yesterday about not being able to root my phone & install recovery, finally I rooted & installed safe strap , but when I went to flash the rom Graviton v3.1 SS Edition it would act like it worked then a black screen and a error message would keep coming up & no matter how many times pressed didn't go away (I forgot what it was because I had to go back to stock) . Before going back to stock rom I tried another Echoe rom v27 that soft bricked my device so like I said went back to stock,I did re-root & reinstall safe strap but I am scared to try to flash a custom rom untill I know more.
I did flash supersu and nc1 modules with both & still no luck, I was wondering if anyone knows a solution to this ? & if they have had the same issues with the 4.4.2 / nc1 update ?
Sorry for the long post I am just trying to understand..
My specs are:
Model Number:Samsung-SGH-I337
Android Version: 4.4.2
Baseband Version: I337ucufNC1
Safestrap- JFLTE-3.7

Okay, so I am getting ready to reflash back to stock , I have downloaded the deodexed and rooted MJ7 ( I also have the vanilla stock version as well ) rom - I also have the PIT file , Odin, Kingo, etc ( previously rooted with De La Vega ). The reason I am doing this is because I accidentally installed the Jelly Beans Rom over the stock partition in SS, and we all know about dirty flash...
I have some questions before I do this:
Do I need to unroot my device or uninstall safe strap or anything prior to re-flash?
There is a TWRP posted here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2518704
"If using Twrp or Cwm flash this kernel its needed for dev editions: http://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=23212708291676094"
Do I need this if I am installing the Rooted MJ7?
Is it safe to load the rooted MJ7 as stock, or should I load the stock, root, safe strap and install it in a different slot?
I should assume that I will loose EVERYTHING that I haven't already backed up, correct?
I have done a lot of research and digging , but there is a lot of noise, assumptions and lingo that can be hard to parse through here on XDA, is the process as follows?
Boot device into Odin mode
Load the ROM and TWRP file into ODIN and flash
Root using Kingo
Do this thing with SU.zip which I don't quite understand , I purchased the full version of SU so is this still necessary or can I just re-download SU and use that version?
Install SS
Boot into SS , create a ROM slot , activate it, install ROM.
Then go back through and re-set up and re download everything
Thanks for reading any advice, help , etc would be great!
*Edit - it was the PIT file not TWRP , strike through to maintain relevance. It also appears I can only flash the deodexed stock rom into a rom slot or flash over stock maybe.
Just for documentation purposes , hopefully it helps a noob or two.
I just used Odin and re loaded the stock MJ7 - Restart was fine, have Android is upgrading screen and it is Optimizing apps.
I did NOT get the Safe Strap boot screen, nor did I get the Jelly Beans ROM splash screen, *HOWEVER* all apps and customizations appeared to stay - no data loss ( your results may vary, back up anyway before trying this! )
Root Checker Basic results - Sorry! This device does not have proper root access.
Kingo - Root successful
Xprivacy notifications showing up in notification bar
Root Checker Basic results - Success
Installed SS 3.65 ( current version as of 11/13 ), installed recovery, rebooted into recovery was a success.
Created ROM slot on slot 1 , installed HyperDrive
Installed Hyperdrive , cleared Dvalik and Cache
Rebooted, loaded into HD. All new "Stock" look.
Time to download Nova , Swiftkey, Zooper , UCCW , etc.
Hopefully this helps someone out there, or if I messed up then someone can enlighten me.
Phone: Samsung Galaxy S4 ATT I337UCUAMDL
Model Number in settings on 4.4 ROM = GT-I9505G
As the title says, I installed dandroid's newest 4.4 ROM from WICKED v5 4.2.2 and lost root. So I attempted to update my CWM Recovery from Odus 1x to the newest using Odin which failed do to write protected I suppose all though others says that doesnt effect their installs.
Where I'm at:
Cannot boot into recovery, says booting recovery the just reboots and enters Dandroid's ROM w/o root.
I'm now lost and have been reading the forums for hours. Currently downloading STOCK Samsung firmware for my device I337UCUAMDL_I337ATTAMDL_ATT.zip
CASUAL failed.
What do I need to do to get back to WORKING custom recovery w/ rooted dandriod 4.4 kitkat rom. Should I use Odin and flash stock rom then motochopper to root and try to reinstall working CWM recovery?
Please advise best course of action. My phone had been working properly with every ROM I tried before update to 4.4 ROM and attempted CWM recovery update (thinking that would fix my root issue). Thanks all!
If you have a nandroid, and I hope you do, just restore that in your custom recovery. If you don't, then you're going to have to return to stock with odin
Tried motochopper on the phone as it sits and it fails as well.
I have a stock backup but the problem is I no longer have access to any recovery. Guess I'm just gonna have to flash the stock firmware with Odin when its finished downloading and start over.
Just finished Odin flash back to samsung factory firmware. Phone stuck at att world logo on bootup, still can't access recovery. Any ideas?

If you flashed Odin successfully you can get into recovery.
Finally got into recovery it rebooted 3 times but just holding the req. buttons finally got me in.
Back on factory firmware and rooted w/ cwm recovery all back in place properly worrking.
I would like to use the Dandroid 4.4 ROM with this device. When I install am I going to lose root again and if so, how I do I get it back on this device since the model in the settings is going to change from I337 to I9505G after installing this ROM?
Figured it all out last night, re-flashed Dandroid's latest ROM which still caused me to loose root, then flashed SuperSU 1.51 instead of 1.80 and regained root. All is right in the world now.

Hey, if you dont mind me asking where did you get the 1.51 zip to flash? I'm having a similar issues with same ROM where i lost root but have recovery access.
Thanks
Update: Found the file. Flashed it. Root is back. Have you let market update it automatically? If so did you lose root afterwords?
Hi, first of all i saw there is thread with simillar names but i didnt saw solution for my problem. So i decided to make new thread. I have been reading all day and im kinda desparate.
I decided to change my rom these days and i choosed Cyanogenmod11 (cm-11-20140217-NIGHTLY-jflteatt) but i forgot to install gapps and rebooted my device and it stuck on this screen: Samsung Galaxy S4 I was Safestrap Recovery 3.71, SuperSU (i post attachments with other details about device). I made Nadroid backup but since i cant enter into recovery its useless and wipe/ dalvik before installing CM11.
My last call was restore with odin, so i download stock rom( " I337UCUAMDB_I337ATTAMDB_I337UCUAMDB_HOME.tar.md5 ") and put phone into download mode connect it (have the proper usb driver) but Odin fails to Auth...
When i put phone in Download mode in the upper left corner says:
ODIN MODE
PRODUCT NAME: SGH-I337
SYSTEM STATUS: Official
CSB-CONFING-LSB 0x30
WRITE PROTECTION: ENABLE
...its strange becouse CM11 instalation was succsesful
Problem is the stock rom you are trying to flash. You have to flash the MF3 stock rom. You cannot flash any aosp roms with safestrap.
You also installed the wrong version of safestrap. Safestrap 3.71 is for 4.3, you have to install 3.65 on MF3.

Okay guys im going to try and give every bit of information I can so its easier to understand,
IM running KK, 4.4.2 my device is SM900V
what im trying to do is flash either alliance build 1 , or jasmine roms
Ive rooted my note 3 through towel root.
ive then downloaded busy box,
then downloaded safe strap,
and super su off of here.
I install a custom recovery with safe strap. Wipe data and davik cache,
and then I install the custom ROM on my stock root slot ( as was said to do on both rom builds)
Every single time I do this, I get the installed correctly after every thing is said and done and I go to reboot my phone and it boots up to the safe strap recover screen, and I select continue and Boom , Nothing just a black screen. So sense the only thing I can to is get into download mode I Reflash the stock firmware and just start over. the first day I thought it was just alliance rom, but after 2 days of continuously soft-bricking my phone I have come to understand its my doing and not any of the roms faults, please if you can help me get my device flashed!
( forgot to mention when im installing safe strap, im installing the NORMAL way)

Those ROM's require the NC2 kernel. You need to grab this and after you flash the ROM, while IN SafeStrap, go to REBOOT then DOWNLOAD mode and Odin the kernel and you will be solid. :good:
Im currently running:
KANGAKAT 6.1 with baseband version I337MVLUEMK6 and bootloader I337MVLUAMG1
Im wanting to upgrade my rom to:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2537495
I just want to make sure I'm going to have no issues when doing so. I have the rom installed on my SD card.
Odin is installed on my computer and I want to upgrade to the I337M NI2 Kernel.
Im worried because ive been out of it so long with the new updates and whatnot that I wont brick my phone.
Is it as simple as booting into TWRP 2.8.7.0, wiping my current rom, reflashing with the GPE 5.0.1 Rom than just rebooting my phone and then upgrading the kernel to NI2??

Ya it should be that's easy. Unless that rom has some xtra steps. Should be install instructions in the rom thread. just make sure u make a backup first just in case and if something does go really wrong wich I can't see happening then all u have to do is odin stock and start over
Got it working, I was pretty sure id be fine because its an I337M so bootloader was unlocked.
I downloaded latest version of TWRP via TWRP Manager , wiped and flashed ROM. The flashed NI2 Modem via odin.
All is working good.
